Disclaimer: Yes, of course I own Harry Potter. I mean, who else would? Some nobody named Joanne Rowling!! . . . OK, I don't own it, because if I did it would be. . . rich. Yes. Rich.
Authors Notes: I like this one a lot for some reason. I know it's really short, but I just like it. And I would like everyone to know that reviews make me happy.
Stare
I see him glance at me in the halls. I try avoiding his eye. But it's difficult. Every now and then he doesn't just glance, but stares me down, as if he's the wolf and I'm his prey. It's quite scary sometimes.
He will purposely slam into me in the corridors between classes, or in the Great Hall during a meal.
Occasionally he will help me pick up my books. Well, only once actually. It was very odd when he did so. He muttered sorry under his breath. 'So unlike him.' I remember thinking. He picked up a few books and then he started his staring again. I tried my hardest to ignore him. I mean, come on! He's Draco Malfoy! I just can't stare back! That would go against everything I stood for! He looked away, and, purposely I think, he grabbed the same book I did. Our hands touched. I flinched, but didn't move. We looked strait into each other. He had this strange look in his eyes. I was slightly frightened. We stared for several seconds. Then he said, quite breathlessly, "Ginny. . ." he looked at our hands and seemed to come out of his reverie. His eyes went wide and he stood up soundlessly, and walked away.
I don't think I'll ever know what he was going to say. But every now and then I'll catch him glancing often times staring. He doesn't do it as much as he used to. I kind of miss it. Strange I know. I never liked him or anything. It's just different now that he doesn't stare much anymore. I try not to think about it. When he does stare the only person who notices is Harry. (Ron is clueless when it comes to things like this.) And when he catches Draco staring he starts saying things like: "If he looks at you one more time I'm going to go beat him to a pulp!" and "I'm going to kill that damned bloody git!" The only way I can get him to stop is if I tell him he's acting like Ron.
He doesn't seem to notice that I don't care.
That I just let him stare. End.
