She didn't know what possessed her to walk down the bleachers. One minute she's sitting there staring at him with anger and the next her feet are moving and she's walking up to him. His back is turned to her. She looks around for her uncle Nate. She doesn't see him and next thing you know her mouth is opening and she blacks out. The words that bring her back to the moment "my father." She notices the look on his face and knows what she just shared. She knows that she cannot take back her words.

"Emma" she hears a shout behind her. Nathan walks up to her pulling her behind him protectively.

"What did I tell you man? Stay away from her!"

Lucas stammered and put his hands up, "Nate I swear I didn't go up to her."

Nathan felt a tug at his shirt and looked down at his niece. "Uncle Nate it was me. I went up to him…"

A pang pulled at Nate's heart and he wrapped his arms around her shoulder. He wasn't about to have this conversation with his brother at work. Let alone a conversation that shouldn't be coming from him. He began walking them out of the arena.

"Is it true?" He turned around. "Is it true, is she my daughter?"

Nate sighed. How would he explain this Brooke? He looked up to lock eyes with his brother. "I told you Luke. You hurt people more than you know." With that, Nathan and Emma began walking towards the exit. Emma looked over her shoulder locking eyes with Lucas and turned back as they walked to the outside.

The car ride home had started off silent. Neither one of them speaking. Nathan and emma both panicking about how they were going to tell Brooke. He took his hand and put it through his hair stressfully and let out a massive huff.

"Uncle Nate," she hesitated. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Her lip began to quiver. Nathan could hear in her voice she was about to cry. He pulled the car over.

He turned and looked at her. "Em, how are we going to tell your mom?"

The tears started to well up in her eyes and fall to her face. She started crying. "Uncle Nate I don't want her to be mad at me. I don't know what happened. I was so angry seeing him there. But next thing you know my feet moved and I was telling him he was my father. I just wanted to see and experience who he is. All of you guys got to see how amazing of a person he was, but me. I just wanted to see what mom saw in him."

He grabbed onto her and pulled her into a hug. She began shaking and the tears wouldn't stop falling. "Why did he leave us Uncle Nate. Why weren't my mom and I good enough for him to come back and even check on her. Why does mom still have so much love for him after what he's done?"

Nathan's heart broke for his niece. And mostly, it broke for Brooke. How were they going to tell Brooke about this ?

Lucas was frantic. He probably shouldn't have been driving, but the second Nathan and Emma left, he jumped in his car. He had been driving for an hour and pulled up to a house. He looked at his hands on the steering wheel shaking from the revelation. He got out of the car and walked up to the porch.

"Well well well, do my eyes deceive me ? Is it the prodigal son of Karen Roe," his voice laced with sarcasm.

Lucas stuck his hand in his pockets, "hey coach."

"Oh you remember little ole me. Almost didn't recognize you. What happened you lost your phone for 10years. What are you doing here Scott?" Whitey asked.

"I uh, I got traded to the Bobcats. I saw Nathan at practice today. He was, he was with," Whitey cut him off. "You met her didn't you? That's why your back."

Lucas nodded his head. Whitey sighed. Things were about to get extremely complicated. "You know, she's an amazing mother? The best. Your little one calls me grandpa, has melted the ice around my heart. I'm convinced they keep me young. I don't go a day without talking or seeing them. Best thing that has happened to me to keep me going in this life."

"His little one." Not that he needed anymore confirmation, but he had a daughter. A 10 year old daughter. Lucas had his broody face on. Taking in all that Whitey was saying. Whitey began to get up from his rocking chair and go into the house.

"Why didn't anyone call me?" Whitey stopped in the door frame. He turned around with a scowl on his face. Hurt. Anger. Disappointment.

"Lucas what I'm about to tell you I need you to think long and hard about. 10 years ago you left and never looked back. You never called. Not once. And you ask why people didn't call to tell you that you had a child?," Lucas began to feel the pain. "Listen to me son, that girl, my family, your family they did more than call you, they went to tell you about her. But by the time they got there, you moved on with your life, didn't even notice them." Lucas's heart began to race. They came to see him?

Whitey noticing the look on his face. "Don't think about it too much. I'm sure you'll find out the truth now that you're here." They stood in silence, Whitey finally breaking it. "Now I have to go see my girls, I can only imagine her stress level from this event once she finds out will be skyrocketing through the roof." He chucked. Lucas had a confused look on his face.

"Brooke, Lucas. Brooke and Emma are my girls. Brooke and Emma have been my family for the past 10 years. When her parents found out she was pregnant at 18, they kicked her to the curb quicker than you could blink. Your mom, Keith, and I well made an obligation to take care of her and Emma. They are my family and Lucas if you're not here to stay and make amends then don't bother even coming around. They don't need broken promises. They don't need to feel unloved." With that Whitey walked back into the home with him standing there.

"Brooke we don't want you to leave!" Karen whined as Brooke set the table.

"Brooke just stay, what are we going to do once you leave? There's so much space here!" Keith questioned as he put cups on the table.

Brooke laughed rearranging the silverware. "Guys I'm just moving a few blocks over, I won't even be that far!" She shook he heard moving around the kitchen. It was Saturday, and they always had family dinners on Saturday.

"Besides Karen, you'll finally have your house back rid of all of Brookes personal belongings which take up half the house," Haley laughed walking into the kitchen, Jamie's hand in hers.

Brooke threw the towel in her hand. "Hush Haley," Brooke said sticking her tongue out. Keith and Karen hugged Brooke giving her a bear hug, "We are just going to miss our girls that's all." Brooke hugged back, "I love you guys," she said in a whisper.

Brooke knew they were right. This was going to be a difficult change. After living with Karen and Keith for the past 10 years has been nothing short of amazing. They took her in when her parents found out she was pregnant. They have been so helpful with Emma and because of them she has been able to accomplish her dream. And this dream has helped her buy her home. The home she planned to be in for the rest of her life with her daughter. Red front door and all.

Brooke was taken out of her thoughts when she heard a knock at the door. She looked at the clock. "It must be Nathan and Emma. I'll get it he probably can't find his key." Brooke walked towards the door with a tray in hand. Hand on the handle she turned it to open.

"Did you lose your …" her voice trailed off seeing the person in front of her. Brooke dropped the tray in her hand shattering everywhere.

"Brooke is everything ok?" Worried voices came up behind her. 3 sets of feet. Her hands were shaking. She felt like her knees were going to buckle under her.

"Mom?" She heard in a questioning tone, looking up Nathan, Emma, and Whitey were behind him. They had just gotten home. Tears formed in her eyes. Her vision began to blurry. It was like she was in the twilight zone.

And then she heard his name. Almost coming out as a whisper from Karen's mouth.

"Lucas."
