Archer was ready, his spell circle was carved into the floor of the room he had been hiding in, and he had used his staff to sap the magic from one of the librarians for this spell. He hoped it would be enough, because as the book said , he only had one shot at this. Still, Archer could not help but bounce on the balls of his feet in excitement.

He had never done such a complex spell, and to be able to summon a human would surely gain Emperor Belos' favor once more. Chanting the words listed in his book, Archer began to power up his staff. The lights in the room began to flicker as Archer reached the end of the chanting, and with one final burst of power, Archer slammed his staff into the center of the circle.

Archer grinned as the room was encompassed in light, but as his eyes adjusted, he cocked his head in confusion. Nothing happened. Looking around, he glanced at his staff, that seemed to glow even brighter than before.

Archer tapped the crystal powersource, feeling a strong tingle of magic before the staff began to convulse wildly. Shaking, with a mind of its own, Archer had to hold on for dear life as it dragged him out of his hideaway and out of the library altogether. Now flying, Archer saw a stormcloud flow out of his staff which released a single bolt of lightning. Archer glanced at where the bolt flew, the woods. That was where the human would be. Archer was about to fly toward the spell, but as he got ahold of his staff, he began to fall. The staff was out of magic.
