Chapter Two
Before his brain could catch up, Jack was kissing back. He put his hands on Ianto's cheek to pull him closer, and that's when he felt it. Small bits of stubble. His brain caught up, processing what just happened. He was kissing a man! In public! He pushed Ianto away. "What the hell, Ianto?! You know I don't feel that way about men! Why the hell would you kiss me? What were you thinking?" Not giving Ianto a chance to say anything except for a regretful "I'm sorry," he stalked off, finishing the walk home. He fled to his room, and slammed the door shut, and slumped against it.
Ianto slowly continued home, thinking about what he had done and why he did it. With just one stupid decision, he fucked up his entire relationship with Jack. He didn't deny it - Jack was gorgeous, funny, smart, engaging, frustrating, messy, kind, and compassionate. And he had a fantastic voice too. 'Sodding hell,' a voice whispered in his head, 'sounds like you're in love with him.' Ianto supposed he was. He couldn't deny he had intense feelings for the older man, which could very well be love. When he turned to look at Jack, intending on convincing him that yes, he was beautiful, he was captivated by the way the moonlight made Jack seem as though he was glowing. It illuminated him in an ethereal light, and he looked even more beautiful. Ianto's heart overruled his brain, and he stupidly kissed Jack and now he probably destroyed the tentative friendship they had.
Jack sat against his bedroom door, tears spilling from his eyes. He was so confused. He knew he was trying to figure out his sexuality, but he didn't expect it to be this hard. He thought he was doing fine, aside from the flutters he felt when he was around Ianto. He put that down to still adjusting to his new flatmate and acclimating to the relationship. Although he couldn't explain why, after two and half weeks, he still felt those intense flutters. And then bloody Ianto perfect Jones had to go and kiss him, and confuse everything even more. He was torn, never having felt that way before, but at the same time a small voice in his head was telling him that he liked it and his heart wanted more. He didn't know what to do. Telling Tosh was not an option, she and Ianto had gotten rather close, and they didn't keep secrets very well. 'Morgan! I can tell them - they're close with Ianto, and anything said in confidence is kept that way.'
Pulling himself away from the door onto his bed, he sent a message to his new friend, telling them what happened. They sympathized with Jack over his tumultuous feelings, and advised him to reconcile things with Ianto the next day, before the situation created an irreparable distance between them. At least to friendship status. They reassured him that Ianto cared immensely for Jack, and if they knew Ianto, he'd be tearing himself up over the situation. Jack thanked them for the advice, and fell into an uneasy sleep.

*Next morning* "Morning Jack. Look, about last night-" he stopped as Jack said "it's fine, don't worry about it." "No, Jack. You had your say last night, and ran off before I had a chance to say my side. So sit down, I'll bring us coffee, and I'll tell you my side." Sipping his coffee, Jack's eyes widened in surprise. Ianto hadn't given him decaf, like he did in situations that Jack messed up. Ianto had decided to take pity on the older man, he was dealing with enough already, and this was a peace offering of sorts.
