ben looked at the British man and frowned he looked familiar like ben had seen him somewhere but where ben couldn't remember.
"who are you if you are the devil then let me tell you that i am an atheist".
"no as a matter of fact i am not" he said.
"oh then that's good" ben said a bit relived "but then who are you" and in an instant his guard was back up.
"i am called paradox or as you might remember me by professor paradox".
"okkk" ben said slowly "sorry, I've got nothing, no idea who you are".
the man shook his head "well then this might jog your memory" he said and snapped his fingers and in an instant ben's eye's widened.
ben pointed his finger at him with an open mouth "you-you bu-but h-h-how and the what?".
"clam down Benjamin" he said like he knew this was going to happened "as for how i am here its because i can travel across space time whenever i wish".
"but-".
"i know this is not my main universe but i couldn't turn away when it needed me or rather you" he said in his usual voice.
"what do you mean it needed me?".
"that's for another time for now I've got a gift for you" he said "you will be waking up in about 1 second for you that is for others it'll be 2 weeks".
ben nodded as paradox snapped his fingers "wait what gift" ben asked.
"you'll know in due time" he said and then there was a blue light that blinded him and he woke up in a hospital bed he looked around and let out an groan.
ben tried to get up but was held down by two hands" easy there" a female voice spoke "rest here, i'll get your family".
ben nodded and dropped his head on the bed and closed his eyes his head was feeling heavy and hurt like hell.
soon ben's parents and jean's parents were there, after a long time of questioning ben was said to be released one month later cause of all the broken bones it was a miracle that he survived, well ben knew what that miracle was called paradox.
Ben had just a brush with death no ben had actually died in jean's arms but when the ambulance arrived he was revived by the doctors or maybe it was paradox, ben's heart and all his body functions had stopped but he had survived the doctors said that it was a miracle or that they were just lucky, ben had heard the doctors talking amongst each other about it and he had also been told by the doctor.
Ben looked around him and saw that he was in an average hospital room he looked at the window which showed his reflection and saw that he was covered in bandages from neck down.
Ben dropped his head back and thought what gift was paradox was talking about.
Ben shook his head and went to sleep.
During his one month stay everyone visited but ben noticed one thing different it was that jean was really quite it's been 2 days since he woke up which means 2 weeks and 2 days since the accident, he had heard from cassy that she was really shaken up and that she didn't even went outside of her house and only came to visit him once when he had woken up which was yesterday ben had seen her, she was really quite ben decided to talk to her today to find out what was wrong.
Ben then closed his eyes and rested.
At evening ben had visitors they were his family and the Grey's.
And thankfully jean was with them.
ben looked around and saw that jean was there with everyone and smiled while looking at her "hey I was worried when you didn't come to visit me" ben said "I thought that something happened to you or something".
she didn't answer, they all talked for a while ben said that he was fine then the adults looked at each other and ben's mom said "we will leave you kids to talk ok we have some work at the hospital".
Ben looked at them confused but nodded nonetheless.
"so" ben said "jean, are you alright, any small nitpicks anywhere"?"
She shook her head ben looked at her with confusion.
"hey you are alright?" ben asked her. Now ben was getting worried.
Ben looked at her and saw that she was shivering a little ben looked at Cassy and she shook her head, ben then realized that she had witnessed a horrible, accident and it was really bloody, bens eyes widened well as much as his injuries allowed them to be, she was a 10-year-old girl and well she had seen her best friend almost die in a bloody fashion so anyone would be a bit shaken but she was worst she might have been traumatized. Ben would hold her hand if he could but he couldn't even move his toes much less his hand.
Ben looked at cassy and mouthed to her to hold her, she looked confused but held her hand nonetheless.
"hey look at me" ben told her gently.
She hesitantly looked at ben still traumatized and when she saw ben in an bandages she almost burst into tears but cassy stroked her hand.
"you haven't talked to me since I woke up" ben said "like at all", she was still not moving an inch.
"hey" ben tried to move his hand which didn't moved at all so ben gave up "you aren't mad at me are you?".
She shook her head so fast that ben was afraid that it'll fall off. But at least it was a reaction and this was because ben was injured ben didn't want to think what would have happened if ben had died.
"so what's the problem?" he asked.
"are you mad at me?".
She didn't move.
"listen give me something, please do you want me to be sad" ben said ben knew that she was an extremely caring person especially towards her friend's so ben thought to try the guilt trap.
Ben heard a whisper but "I didn't quite catch that" ben said.
"no" she said ben smiled widely "see you are talking to me; man I was afraid that you were mad at me or something".
"I am mad" she said "you could've gotten hurt even bad or-or d-die- "she hiccupped.
Cassy looked at her "hey but he didn't right" she said making jean look at her that was when she noticed her condition her eyes were red and had dark circles.
"oh my god what happened to your face" cassy being the innocent 11-year-old didn't knew what happened to her best friend "did you get an infection?".
Ben chuckled a but groaned the accident was really bad it hurt to laugh the two of them looked at him worriedly.
"you ok" jean asked hesitantly.
"nah just kind of happy that you guys are fine"" ben said if that car had hit any of them and something had happened then ben font know what he might have done.
"can you visit me again" ben asked "I am really board here".
Cassy nodded "of course as your older sis it's my responsibility".
"where did you learn such big words" ben said shocked.
"he he" she grinned ben looked at jean "and can you".
she hesitated a few seconds but cassy answered her "of course, won't you?". She looked at her and she nodded. Ben smiled.
With jean and cassy.
They were outside when they encountered their parents they were outside listening to their conversation.
The grey's looked at jean and smiled happy that their daughter had finally said something maybe that new doctor was good or maybe it was ben but nonetheless they were happy for her.
"come on you have the docter's appointment lets go".
She nodded and walked with them cassy watched her go with worried expression.
A while later they reached to there home where an bald man in a wheel chair was waiting for them.
"ah Mr. and Mrs. grey how was the hospital visit?" he asked.
"it was good Mr. Xavier; jean even spoke a little" Mrs. grey said.
The now Mr. Xavier smiled.
"great now jean dear are you ready for your next session" he said gently.
She nodded and he started to explain to her more about her powers he was really thankful that her friend didn't died, if he did then her condition would be even worse.
Jean had powers similar to him and they awoke in the worst possible time when her friend was dying in her arms, jean had linked her mind to ben's so she experienced everything ben had gone through even his temporary death like state.
From what Charles had seen from her mind that ben fellow was really happy that the two f them were not hurt so Charles first decided to focus on that memory but it still didn't work so when he heard that ben had worked up he suggested for her to meet ben and from what he felt form her mind it worked.
Now the first step had been made so now it will be much easier, jean was an empath, telepath and a very strong one at that he needed to help her or she will go crazy from the people around her the mind of humanity is not a pretty place he had experienced it firsthand.
With that they started to help jean control her powers.
