Iruka Umino would graduate from the academy in less than one year from now. After the nine-tails killed his parents, Iruka became a class clown. He wouldn't be disciplined. Better yet, he made the perfect target for Jonathan to use.
It's not that Jonathan couldn't approach Iruka at any time he felt. Jonathan needed to wait for a certain time for Iruka to truly feel the loss of his parents for him to change. Roughly ten days had passed since the nine-tails attack.
After those days had passed, Jonathan believed it was now the time to act.
Because Iruka was still learning for the day, he had to wait for the academy to end. Whilst waiting, Jonathan found someone very invigorating. Three girls around Jonathan's age were seen watching one student walking casually. That student was Itachi Uchiha. Jonathan knew Itachi was only six years old. Being one of Jonathan's favourite characters from the past, he knew a lot about Itachi Uchiha. Most notably, his academy graduation age, which was seven. As for his age, the nine-tails attacked the village when Itachi was only six years old at the time. He understood this logic because Sasuke Uchiha was six years younger than his older brother, Itachi. Next year Itachi Uchiha would graduate from the academy.
But Itachi wasn't who Jonathan was interested in right now. It was a person several yards away from Itachi. Someone who wasn't supposed to be here. Sitting by herself was Izumi Uchiha. Izumi was rescued by Itachi during the nine-tail's attack. As opposed to the novel, things happened differently. Jonathan couldn't tell which was which yet.
'If Izumi had been rescued like in the original franchise, her behaviour should have been the same as the girls fondling over Itachi,' Jonathan thought.
Not only had Izumi's father died during the attack; but, because of Jonathan, Izumi's mother, Hazuki Uchiha also did.
Jonathan could tell that not just Izumi's personality had shifted but even her actions. In the original story, Izumi Uchiha had not begun attending the academy till several years later. When Izumi did, she (like most of the other girls) adored Itachi. They all had their hearts moved by his talented skills and good grades. But this time was different. Izumi hadn't shown any affection towards Itachi.
'I heard that the academy re-opened not too long ago. That would mean she would have to enroll at that time. Could my intervention have changed her story?' Jonathan hypothesized. Just like Iruka Umino, who became hard-working and disciplined after the deaths of both his parents, Izumi was undergoing the same development.
Her lack of interest in Itachi and her early enrollment in the academy were bound to cause a shift in the story.
Jonathan began to consider how greatly things could change all because of one minor person's death. His thoughts led him to believe something was possible. If by some miracle, Jonathan acquired the more advanced version of the sharingan, the mangekyō sharingan, he would prefer to evolve that even further. To evolve the mangekyō sharingan to the eternal mangekyō sharingan, he would need to transplant an Uchiha who also had the mangekyō sharingan. But it couldn't just be any Uchiha. It had to be a close relative. They were the most compatible.
Hazuki Uchiha's blood coursed through Jonathan's own veins. Assuming the surgical procedure went successfully, Izumi Uchiha who shared the same blood, would be his only match.
Unlike Itachi Uchiha who made his younger brother, Sasuke, believe that he wanted his eyes to grow stronger, Jonathan was serious about Izumi's eyes. He knew he had to nurture Izumi and watch her grow for this to work. More importantly, Jonathan had to ensure she wouldn't be killed by Itachi during the Uchiha massacre event seven years from now.
Jonathan was a meticulous fellow. He always planned several moves ahead of his opponents. For him to nurture Izumi, he had to keep track of her movements and behaviour when she wasn't in the Uchiha clan. This, however, would prove to be difficult.
Her own graduation date wouldn't be several years from now. Five to be exact. He knew this because of the graduation policy the Leaf would implement that year. But because of her recent change, Jonathan speculated that she would graduate a lot sooner now. Perhaps not as quickly as Itachi but at least one to two years later would be the most accurate. Those things aside, Jonathan wouldn't be able to spy on her consistently because of the Uchiha clan's presence. It was one area Jonathan knew would be under constant surveillance after the nine-tail's attack.
On top of this, Jonathan already knew a lot about Izumi Uchiha. It wasn't just her. He knew a lot about the Uchiha clan in general. Because Itachi Uchiha's character was written partially well, Jonathan took an interest in how he lived his life before leaving the Leaf Village. He had admired Itachi's background which led Jonathan to researching the Uchiha clan back on earth.
The only anomalies that occurred were the unfilled moments. Such as Hazuki Uchiha possessing the sharingan. Izumi's father wasn't an Uchiha but a shinobi. His death was the reason Izumi Uchiha unlocked her sharingan. With the death of her mother, who Jonathan hadn't had enough information on, he was positive Izumi would flourish even better than in the original story.
