Here's the next chapter.
As always I own nothing written here. J.K.Rowling is that lucky woman and I
wouldn't want to take any credit away from her. But then, she's planning on
stopping after seven books so it's up to us to decide what happens after
that. This is simply my suggestion. Please don't sue me.
Lily and James Potter: thanks loads for your continued reviews, they really
keep me going. Thanks to everyone else as well, I love to hear your
guesses.

Flying
The new ravenclaws settled quickly into a routine at their new school. All being naturally gifted and clever they found the first lessons less difficult than their fellow first years. (That and the fact that all including Alice had read and reread the entire syllabus before arriving). It soon became clear that Michael and Cedric were close friends and Alice couldn't help but feel she had little in common with the other first year girls Molly and Marietta whom she shared a dormitory with. They were nice enough but they just weren't on the same wavelength. They were only three days into the school term and already the two were worrying about exams, when all Alice cared about was having fun.
She hoped that today's lessons would be better but had however, less hope than the other first years. For today, they had their first flying lesson. It wasn't that Alice didn't like flying; in fact it was only when she was in the air that she felt truly free, but she thought the flying that would be taught in the first lesson would provide little entertainment for her.
Alice looked around as all the first years headed excitedly towards the quidditch pitch. Today was their first flying lesson. However, Alice saw little to excite her. With her father being a quidditch player and fanatic, she had owned a broom since she was six and now carried her Lightning 4000 by her side. Not only that, but even her father had told her she was one of the best flyers he had seen since he was a school. She loved quidditch, preferring to play seeker to keeper. She was one of the few first years that had brought their own broom. Most of the others being slytherins.
Madam Hooch stepped out onto the field and ordered all the first years to get a broom and line up with their broom on the ground. They then had to raise their hand over the broom and shout up.
'Up!' Alice calmly spoke as her broomstick rose straight into her hands. About half the classes' broomsticks responded similarly, yet there were some for whom the broom just wouldn't move.
Alice smiled at Marietta, who managed to lift the broom on her third try and the two looked down to Molly who was getting frustrated as she had found something that no amount of studying would help her perfect. She looked at her two new friends,
'Stop laughing. It's not working,' she smiled, 'Up!'
This time, the broomstick rose. Unfortunately, Molly was still watching her friends at the time and the broom hit her on her nose. The three girls began to giggle uncontrollably.
Alice smiled, there were two sides to Molly that she had seen over the past week. There was of course what Alice called her 'professor side', the side of her that loved to study, hated rule breaking and rule breakers, but from time to time, Alice and Marietta had both glimpsed another side. The side of her personality she referred to as 'the hidden Weasley'. Alice wished that this side would surface more often; it was a lot more fun. Judging by all the adventures Molly told her of, occurring when her parents went to school, Alice couldn't help feeling that was the sort of fun she needed. Molly's mum however, had been training her over the years to hide her 'Weasley' deeper, whereas her father, helped by his brothers had been trying to get it to take over. Alice liked the sound of Molly's family immensely. It was so large. Molly herself had 6 uncles and aunts, 23 cousins and 4 sisters and a brother. Alice, who had no siblings, envied her greatly.
Once the whole class had raised their brooms, Madam Hooch told them to mount them and rise just 5 feet off the ground, no further. Most of the class managed this no problem although some were still a little wobbly on their brooms.
However, when Madam Hooch asked them to go a little higher and then land something happened to many of the first years. All but four of them couldn't make it down and began wobbling round 30 feet up, some going higher. Somebody had jinxed the brooms, even those that had been brought from home. It would have been a funny sight for the four remaining students if there hadn't been such a look of panic on Madam Hooch's face.
Max, Alice, Katie and Lucious turned and looked at each other, with determined expressions. Some unspoken agreement seemed to have passed between them. They once again mounted their brooms and rose into the air, ignoring Madam Hooch's calls. They all flew well enough to control the unsteady brooms. Each student helped the students of their respective houses get down safely to the ground where Madam Hooch was there to check they were okay.
Alice was at this time, helping Molly down. Molly was shaking. For someone whose father owned a quidditch supply shop she hadn't had much experience on a broom. Alice guessed she must take after her mum in that respect; she couldn't imagine the deputy head on a broom. At that moment, Alice heard a scream as Marietta fell off her broom. She was about 40ft up at the time and falling, but Alice couldn't leave Molly.
She heard shouts from below and looked down to see Max Henderson, one of the Griffindor boys, flying towards her at high-speed. She couldn't help noticing that he flew terrifically. Although he was a long way off, he amazingly managed to catch Marietta and get her safely to the ground.
Madam Hooch was very impressed, she awarded the four flyers 40 points each, giving an extra 10 to Max for his final stunt. The hufflepuffs, ravenclaws and griffindors crowded round Max, patting him on the back and telling him how fab his flying had been, whilst all the slytherins stood at the side and scowled. Griffindors didn't deserve this attention.
One Slytherin however, walked right into the crowd. It was Lucious Malfoy. With a blank look on his face he walked right up to Max, the crowds parted to let him through. Alice watched in amazement, wondering what he was going to say
The entire class was in shock as Lucious stuck out his hand saying, 'nice bit of flying Henderson, well done.'
Alice heard the boy next to her, who she knew to be Molly's cousin Harry gasp.
There was quiet as Max shook the hand replying 'you too.'
Then Malfoy turned and walked away, the other slytherins following. Alice could hear them mumbling complaints at him but she was astounded to notice that one word from him silenced them on the subject. Only the girl, Macintosh looked extremely unhappy due to the situation, glaring at the Malfoy.
She left the pitch with Marietta and Molly, with Cedric, Michael and Barty following behind. The boys couldn't stop talking about how fun their first lesson was, as well as thanking Alice and complementing her on her flying. Cedric was one of those who remained in considerable control over his broom and was helped down with minimal help from Alice.
'That was mint!' Cedric exclaimed, 'he flies amazingly'
'Doesn't he just,' Marietta giggled.
Alice just looked at Molly and smiled.
