Doctor Doctor woke up the next morning to find herself lying in bed on top of the sheets. What happened last night? Oh right, she had a hen party with Queen Titania, her daughters, and the rest of those girls down at the Infernos discotheque. She slowly lifted herself off the bed and made her way out of the bedroom to find Professor Professor sleeping in the same spot on the couch she'd found him in last night. She looked down at him and figured he might be more comfortable if he were sleeping in bed instead.

She poked him in the cheek. "Psst, Professor, wake up."

Professor Professor lifted his head up to look at her. The first thing he asked when he came to was, "Susan, did you need something?"

"Not really," she replied. "I figured you might prefer sleeping in our bed. Do you mind?"

"No, I'm fine, thank you."

Doctor Doctor left him alone to treat a truly horrendous hangover she must've given herself from all that drinking. She decided to nurse it with some Lucozade Sport Professor Professor had bought the week before and then go back to bed. Last night had been a wild one, and she wasn't sure she wanted to do that again. She ended up drifting off for a few hours, a few more than she would've liked, and woke up to find Professor Professor hovering over her.

"Did you have a great time at your hen party last night?" Professor Professor asked.

"Hmm? Oh, yes, we all had a great time. I'm pretty sure we had a little too much to drink, though. Oh, Leoffled also asked about your brother. I think she likes him."

"Does she now? Then again, Maestro did always have a thing for women with ethereal beauty. I suppose fae like her would be right up his alley."

"I suppose so, too. How was your stag do, Professor?"

"It was wunderbar. Oberon offered me and the rest of the men some ecstasy and we got high and went on a rampage. Reptogators attacked the building at some point, but I think we fought them off. Oh, and we also got a lifetime ban from Knowhere Special, so that's something."

"You got banned from Knowhere Special? That's a shame, but at least you had a good time."

Professor Professor chuckled. "Ja. It'd be a funny story to tell our kids one day."

Doctor Doctor's face tensed up when she heard him say that, but she let it slide for now. "So... I still can't believe we're actually going through with this wedding."

"Ja, me neither. Isn't it great? We get to publicly declare our love in front of hundreds of people."

Doctor Doctor forced herself to calm. "It is. It's just... I'm worried that after we have the wedding next month, we've reached the point of no return, like there's just no going back."

Professor Professor placed his comforting hands on top of hers. "Hey, listen. What you're feeling right now is completely normal. There's no reason to bail out now. If every person who had doubts about their wedding decided not to go through with it, no one would be married."

"Bobson Dugnutt's never been married, though."

"So? I'm just saying, you're not the first person who's felt this way and you certainly won't be the last one."

"You're right. I guess the thought of not being alone anymore is just... intimidating?"

"There you go. Admittedly, the future can be pretty daunting to think about, but there's not much we can do about it except try not to stress about it so much... at least, try not to stress about the things beyond our control."

Doctor Doctor's expression softened in relief. "Of course, try not to stress about the future."

Later that day, Professor Professor and Doctor Doctor met up with Marlon Zen again, this time over at the West African restaurant Chishuru. Oluremi had once recommended the restaurant to her former boss, as it had reminded the former of her home life. Indeed, it was Doctor Doctor who suggested to Marlon that they meet up here.

"I'm so glad we could meet up again," Marlon said. "It feels like a lifetime ago since we last went over plans for the wedding."

"Same here, Marlon," Professor Professor replied. "Doctor Doctor and I have now agreed on everything to do for the wedding. I'm so glad you could help us with it."

"I mean, it is my job. One last thing, though: are you prepared for what comes after the wedding? You know, the honeymoon, the married life, that sort of thing?"

"I mean, we kind of talked about it a little bit, but..."

"Don't dodge the question, Professor Professor. You know very well what I mean." Marlon sighed. "Actually, never mind. I can tell you haven't prepared for the post-wedding life. That's okay. You'll learn as you go along."

Soon, everyone at the table started going over their menus and picking out what they wanted to eat. Then the waiter stopped by and they told her their orders. Afterwards, she left and they went back to talking.

"So..." Doctor Doctor began to speak after a while. "This wedding... I'm not entirely sure about you, but I feel like it scares me a little bit."

"Well, weddings are one of the most stressful occasions anyone can go through," Marlon replied. "Of course you're a little scared."

"I hope I'm making the right decision. I'd hate to think I'm setting myself and Professor Professor up for a miserable future together. It wouldn't be fair to either of us to do this because we felt we had to. I'd rather that we did this because we wanted to."

Marlon nodded to show that he understood. "Understandable, very much so. That's why I'm going to see to it that this wedding quells any doubts you've had or will have about this marriage. I feel like it would be a waste of time if it was all for nothing, n'est-ce pas?"

"You better." The way Doctor Doctor answered that sounded more like a veiled threat than anything else. "I'll never forgive you otherwise."

Professor Professor nervously chuckled. "I'm sure it didn't come across the way it might've come across. You said our wedding will quell any of our doubts? Are you certain about that?"

"Beyond that."

While reactions to Marlon's promises were mixed, one thing was certain: the wedding was absolutely happening and it would be a memorable for the couple who would soon be husband and wife.
