Legends of Chima

Genre: Fantasy, Epic, Science Fiction, Action

The realm of Chima has existed in peace for generations, until bitter war breaks out over the power hungry tribes for the elemental Chi, which grants superhuman powers.

This is a hypothetical description of Chima as a reimagined mature TV series.

1.1

In the fantasy realm of Chima, best friends Laval and Cragger undergo a fatal rift in their friendship that turns them into fierce rivals.

Princess Eris of the Eagle Kingdom finds herself captured and taken hostage by the crocodile king Cragger, who leads a heavily militarized army of ravens and wolves to attack the Lion Kingdom. The lion prince Laval is getting ready for his coronation as he has come of age to wield chi when Cragger's army attacks. He doesn't recognize Cragger when he wears the crown and chases him to the outside of the city with his Speedor. He defeats Cragger in a fight but hesitates when his mask falls off, revealing who he is. A flashback shows that Laval and Cragger were mutal friends along with members of other tribes including Worriz the Wolf warrior leader, Eris the Eagle Princess, and Gorzan and Rogon, the respective princes of gorillas and rhinos. However Cragger convinces Laval to steal chi from the sacred pool in the lion throne room, which Cragger uses causing him to become out of control. King Lagravis arrests him causing crocodile king Crominus to take him back and storm out. Days later, Cragger tries to break in again with Worriz which leads to a chase and eventual battle between the tribe's armies. The crocodile tank with Crominus and his wife Crunket in it falls over the Gorge of Eternal Depth, caused by Laval who sacrifices them to prevent his own people from falling with them, causing Cragger to be bitterly angry. Lagravis eventually retells the origin of Chima to Laval, about how Mount Cavora rose providing seemingly infinite chi water from the falls, but that the Legend Beasts, a group of god like animals who evolved without consuming the chi chose to stay in their primitive forms and served as guardians. He crashes a speedor tournament after Laval uninentionally embarasses Worriz, and he nearly kills Laval in the falling jungle. Cragger eventually orders the wolves with his pledge of the pack and bribes the ravens to attack the lion kingdom. Cragger nearly drowns Laval but he's saved by the Lion Beast who repels Cragger's men, saving the city.

1.2

Cragger and Crooler return to the lion kingdom for chi, which Lagravis allows for their tribe's needs, much to Laval's anger. Cragger however departs instead of participating at the speedor race. Laval finds that raven prince Razar, his father Razom, and one of their thieves Ripnik had taken his speedor and repainted it for profit. Lion guards Longtooth and Leonidas find that the prize golden chi for the race was stolen, and Laval's speedor was a distraction. Laval leads an army of the tribes to confront Cragger who paid Razar to take the chi and brings it back. Laval still doesn't trust Cragger and participates in the race, finding that Crooler paid Worriz to get Laval out, but he crosses Cragger and wins the golden chi. After the race, Laval goes to Cragger and warns him not to misuse the chi but Cragger attacks him with Laval barely escaping. Eris tries to put Laval's worries to rest so they steal Lagravis' tank to joyride when he leaves the city for a few days on an ambassador mission to the rhinos. Lagravis arrives at the rhino quarry but learns about their unusual way of life centered around mining rocks and fails to achieve any diplomacy. When Laval and Eris damage the tank they go to the beaver tribe to help repair it, but find that Cragger has paid them to built a canal leading from the falls of Cavora to the Crocodile Swamp where Cragger is amassing an army and building walls to protect it. Laval attacks Cragger's men and confronts him, and Eris helps him destroy the canal. Eris finds Laval unconscious and takes him to the Beaver Lodge to treat him. The crocodiles attack the lodge and Eris is captured but flees to get help, and Laval finds that Cragger recovered some chi orbs fromt he flowing water in a sac. Believing the crocodiles don't deserve chi for what they did, so he steals it causing Cragger to chase him to the Gorge. Laval drops the sac in the Gorge but before Cragger could attack him, the lion and eagle army confront him forcing retreat. Everyone returns to their homes and the next morning Lagravis returns after being attacked by Worriz the night before. He finds that the beavers who repaired the tank added crude wings, and he yells Laval's name in anger.

1.3

Crooler devices a plot to remove each of the tribes that stand between her and ruling Chima. She pays Ripnik to steal a sacred mother tooth artifact, and uses eagle feathers they stole to frame them. In the meantime Cragger accidentally provokes the gorillas by disrupting their meditation with the great mellow flower. They immediately attack the crocodiles so Crooler orders Cragger to take their troops and lead them deep into the swamps, where they use artillery to strand them on a small island. Crooler has the malicious crocodile general Crokenburg meet with the wolves in their absense and he helps assist them in a retrieval to get the tooth back. He lends them bellow plants from the swamp so the wolves can attack the eagles. Eglor, a scientist is observing the unusual state of the moon when the wolves attack him first, and the eagle military resists. Gorilla civilian G'loona informs the lions about the attack on the crocodile swamp and asks for help to break the battle apart. Lagravis takes men to the crocodile swamp while general Lennox takes an army to meet with Laval who's helping the eagles at the spires. In order to turn the odds in their favor Laval pays Razar with his own money to escort the Lennox's to the Spires, but Laval and Eris descend on the ground and find out from overhearing Crokenburg that the ravens were paid earlier. The ravens retreat and the wolf army completely overwhelms the lions and eagles. In the meantime, Lagravis sends a distress signal from the swamps since the lion's naval force was overwhelmed by Cragger. Crokenburg orders for the crocodile tanks to be hooked with giant chains that latch onto the spire, a plot devised by Crooler to remove all three factions. The Spire nearly falls but the ravens choose to cross the crocodiles at fear of loosing customers, cutting the chains. The wolves try to retaliate but Ripnik, pressured by Laval, returns the tooth secretly leading the wolves to retreat. Laval urges the eagles to send a small force to help Lagravis and they manage to intercept Cragger before he can kill the lions. In a final showdown Laval fights Cragger and the lions convince the gorillas to stop the fight. In the aftermath Cragger and Crooler were flung onto a tree by a gorilla mech, and when Crooler rants about her failed plans and berates Cragger, he abandons his sister in the tree.

1.4

Eglor presents findings about the strange color of the moon which begins to turn purple. He informs the Lions that legend says civilizations are balanced on the occasion of the Hundred Year Moon which causes wolves to go feral. Despite the war at the Spire Laval convinces the wolves to warn the kingdoms including the crocodiles. Crooler and Cragger abduct G'loona and restrain her at the Forever Rock. Gorzan and Laval scout for her but fail as the feral wolves nearly kill them. They take refuge at the gorilla forest with help from Skinnet who's stench purifies the wolves briefly during the night. The gorilla military also suffers casualties and damage but G'loona is saved by her friend Wonald whom she calms. The remaining gorilla army returns to fend off attacking wolves but right then the lions and eagles arrive for aid and they all fend off the wolves till the sun comes up.

1.5

Crooler consults the wolves with a plot to steal raid the lion chi pool, and due to Cragger's unreliability and agrees to destroy the pledge of the pack in exchange. At the speedor race two new competitors, the veteren Dom De La Whoosh and newcomer Shadowind. Worriz uses Furtivo the Fox to spread rumors among spectators about racers cheating, causing tribes to rig the track and fight each other. Crooler and Worriz instigate it causing the lions to break it up. In the race despite Cragger bribing Whoosh to help him win, Shadowind beats him. Cragger also follows Crooler and finds her stealing chi and gets angered at her deed, as his mind control is wearing off. Laval, Eris, and Rogon ally with him and Laval saves Cragger from death. Cragger earns brief praise and Crooler throws the pledge down the gorge.

1.6

Cragger disowns and banishes Crooler for her treason and chooses to reform. In the meantime, the wolves attack multiple tribes in Chima and steal plenty of chi, causing the lions to become distracted fighting them. After many fights with militarized and chi armed wolves Laval suggest chi deliveries using eagle jets but they're attacked by wolf anti-aircraft guns. The lions and eagles suffer losses in resources and troops. Laval also briefly struggles when he and Eris crash over the Gorge and barely make it out. Crooler manages to sneak into the wolf camp and hijacks a wolf buggy with sacks of chi. Cragger also finds one of Crooler's persuader plants and hypnotizes himself, becoming violent. Crooler arrives with the stolen chi but the wolves retake the buggy. Having been swayed back to Crooler's control, Cragger vows revenge and sets the army on the wolves. Worriz attacks Gorzan, Laval, and Eris for their remaining chi after they get out of the Gorge but King Ewald and Eglor assist the three in escaping. Cragger's army attacks Worriz but they're outgunned and beaten, with him and all of the crocodile soldiers being taken prisonor.

1.7

Laval tries to convince the tribe leaders of Chima to take action against the wolves to little avail, so he and Eris try to hire Shadowind, who previously used his golden chi to help repair the broken wall Worriz made in the temple to steal chi. The two go to Razar and participate in his speedor race, winning a chance to see Shadowind (who's actually Furtivo in disguise), but he manages to help them distract the wolves long enough to sneak into the camp. The wolves however were under surveilence by Skinnet and as Crooler described, the tribes would likely launch an attack if the crocodiles are put in danger. Due to this the wolves were forced to entertain the crocodiles so they willingly allow Laval to release the prisoners. The next day, having been grateful for Laval's help, Cragger loses his memories of Crooler's treason and asks her to help him reform. Crooler is unable to get more persuader plants but meets the raven alchemist Reegull, a cyborg raven-eagle hybrid who found a way to make artificial chi. Cragger buys it to gift it to other tribes but it backfires when he finds out that they're capable of mentally altering the host, as intended by Reegull. This puts him at odds with Laval but it's revealed the effects were off after a few hours. They're intercepteed by Worriz who steals all of the fake chi and attempts to attack the lion temple, but the chi takes affect and the wolves start squaking like birds. Laval and Cragger threaten Reegull to stop producing the fake chi and decide to rekindle their friendship.

7

After many months the wolves' war on the tribes of Chima have largely died down. Laval and Cragger restart their friendship by inviting their friends from the other tribes to a speedor race. Crooler, still unable to find a persuader plant tries to convince the gorillas to help her but to no avail. Elsewhere, Eglor tells Razar about the eagle custom of sharing property, which prompts him to gather ravens to raid the Spires. The eagle military puts up a fight but looses upon being outnumbered. While the two sides fight, Crooler burns the root of the persuader plant revealing it put produces a hallucinogenic fog that brings out primal urges and aggression in targets. Laval, Cragger, and the racers gather at the spiral mountain, and Eris convinces Razar to call off the raid cause they don't exchange anything for profit so there's no point in making money off of eagle technology. Razar does find Eris' diary and wishes to sell it, causing Eris to fight him over it. Razar tries to escape in his jet but Eris pushes him off causing them to land at the mountain where Laval and Cragger are at, so in a moment of embarissment they drop the fight. Laval and Cragger discuss that they need to put the conflict of the Chima tribes in the past and suggest a formal truce. The next day at the Forever Rock they formulate a truce respecting the boundries of the tribes and agreeing to form alliance if one violates the peace. Crooler however throws a persuader root into the campfire causing Cragger to turn violent and Laval having to steal a golden chi orb as well as fight many guards to use it to save his friends. He uses it to transform the land and destroy the fog, but Cragger becomes violent and races back home. He imprisons Crooler and vows to take Chima for himself, elsewhere Laval accepts an exile sentence for his theft. Despite protests Laval chooses to accept exile for his treason and goes to Spiral Mountain, intending to go to the outlands.

8

Taking advantage of Laval's absence, Cragger and Ripnik abduct Lagravis, and build up the crocodile army to overthrow the lions. The timing becomes odd as a mysterious black cloud looms over the sky and starts orbitting Cavora. In the swamp dungeons Lagravis learns from Crooler that Crooler wished attention and power ever since she was neglected by her parents in childhood who favored Cragger, prompting her to manipulate Cragger for her own gain. Cragger also attacks Plovar, his tooth cleaning bird, causing him to tell Laval about Lagravis being captured. He, Laval, and Skinnet also meet Shadowind who gives Laval the pledge of the pack. Laval goes to the crocodile swamp where Cragger monitors and fears the black cloud. He allows Laval to take Lagravis in exchange for the pledge. A few days later, the lions and eagles try to investigate the black cloud but conclude that it's sentient and violent. After failed investigations in which the cloud attacks eagle planes the lions take a break, during which Laval and Eris find that Cragger is looking for Shadowind as he was spotted being chased by the cloud. They're searching for answers about if Cragger's parents are still alive. Laval meets with Cragger who tries to go into the Outlands with no success. He tells Cragger that he's truly sorry for sacrificing his parents, but if they're still alive they can't let the black cloud threaten Cavora. At Laval's request, the armies of Chima are summoned to Cavora to blast at the cloud, which successfully repels the cloud. However the tribes are in shock to find that the chi falls have stopped flowing.

9

Cragger quickly blames Laval's attack order, turning the tribe warriors against him. However before the fight an earthquake breaks everyone up causing the tribes to flee. Days later the tribes with the exception of wolves and crocodiles agree to find a way to repair the falls, but Laval learns that Cragger is amasing an army to attack the lions again in order to use the remaining chi for himself. He orders the wolves' alligence with the pledge of the pack and bribes the rhinos with free rocks. Laval earns alliance of the gorillas and bears, and leaves a note for the ravens to meet him, while Eris tries to get the beavers to fix Cavora but with no success. Laval and Eris are suddenly attacked by raven jets and wolf buggies. Gorzan helps them retreat into the lion kingdom gates and the lion army clashes with Cragger's in a prolonged battle while the rhinos attack the gorillas. Due to the wolves' large stockpile of chi the lion army is quickly decimated and Cragger confronts Laval at the gates, who attempts to close the drawbridge. When it does he and Cragger fall from a height and Laval injures himself saving Cragger, seemingly dying. Cragger retreats while a grief stricken Lagravis is joined by Lennox, Eris, and a reformed Rogon who all futilely attack Worriz. Cragger in the meantime sneaks into the palace and sees Laval's body in his room, only to find that it's a decoy with a note saying he's not dead. Cragger runs out to the field and calls off the siege, and Lagravis reveals that Laval was summoned by Shadowind and stalled Cragger's men long enough to help retrieve the crocodile legend beast and Crunket who's revealed to be alive. She explains that the black cloud consists of the evolved bat tribe and they clogged the falls to steal chi as well as capturing the Legend Beasts to prevent them from interference. Days later Cragger delivers a public apology for his actions and he, Laval, Eris, Razar, Worriz, Gorzan, Rogon, and prince Bladvick set out to save the Legend Beasts.

10

The tribes of Chima continue to fend off the bats and Crukent leads troops to recover the chi shot down by spider spies, one of the tribes described by Crunket. The eight heroes venture into the Outlands and overcome carnivorous plants and the territorial bat soldiers. They all find a fortress in the clearing and find that a lion named Lavertus lives there, who invites them in. They find that he's an exiled lion warrior who knows where the Crawler tribes have trapped the Legend Beasts but refuses to do anything about it. Cragger doesn't trust Lavertus and finds his demeanor threatening, believing he's hiding something. The heroes go to a canyon of spiders and find the gorilla and rhino beasts imprisoned there, and using Rogon's enhanced intelect caused by the presence of the Rhino, they release the Beasts from their traps. They also find out that Rogon has a sister named Rinona who stowed away on the rhino tank. Upon escaping they also break the spider queen Spinlyn's tooth. In the swamp, Crooler, Crawley, and Crug are nearly killed by the spiders led by Spindle but they're attacked by Shadowind and eventually retreat. Shadowind saves the three before quickly leaving. At Lavertus' base he arrives late and as the characters go to sleep it's shown that he has hidden stashes of golden chi.

11

Lavertus is forced to reveal his golden chi stash when the heroes find out that he is actually Shadowind, and he tells them that during his exile the Crawlers threatened him forcing him to secretly steal golden chi in order to protect himself by building his fort and speedor course. He finds out that the Raven Legend Beast is being mind controlled by hypnotic scorpion venom to steal Lavertus' chi. After beating Lavertus in a speedor race, the characters attack the Scorpion Cave to retrieve it and manage to use golden paint to awaken the Raven Beast, as well as the speedors to escape. That night, Scorm, the scorpion king suggests building speedors so they go back to Cavora to get tribestone to carve the wheels. Elsewhere, while Crooler is trying to interrogate Spindle and his captured men she proposes alliance but they escape and chain her as well as abducting Plovar. They take Plovar to Spinlyn and force him to repair her fang which Rogon had broken. Elsewhere, Scorm has managed to gather enough parts to built speedors. After the mission they find the bats have the Bear and Eagle Beast in captivity, having placed the Eagle's two eggs and Bear on a seasaw trap over a canyon. After a prolonged struggle, Rinona, Lavertus, Laval, and Bladvic manage to guide the Bear to safety and recover the two eggs, and Laval and Bladvic barely escape Scorm and his troops who haven't fully mastered driving speedors.

12

Cragger and Worriz go on their own missions to find Crominus and the Wolf Beast who are imprisoned by the scorpions. They find Plovar who escaped from Spinlyn, who's with Scorm and Braptar escorting the Wolf Beast and Crominus, but the three get captured and caged where Cragger reunites with Crominus, who expresses dislike to Lavertus. The rest of the heroes suit up with armor and modified weapons Lavertus made for them and storm the scorpion cave looking for their friends. Elsewhere Lavertus tells Rinona about how he was once in love with Crunket but a jealous Crominus framed him for smuggling chi using a persuader plant, causing his exile for years. This explains Lavertus' strange behavior around Cragger. Despite this Rinona convinces Lavertus to put it in the past so that they can help their friends, so they arm themselves with golden chi and Lavertus' helicopter. The heroes fight their way into the interior of the cave and find Worriz who managed to use the mother tooth to cleanse the Wolf's mind control, and she breaks the prisoners out. Scorm and Spinlyn arrive with mechs and overwhelm the beasts causing retreat, and while hiding Cragger tries to convince the Crawlers to stand down by telling them that Laval's chi is what evolved them in the first place. As described by Crunket that they found chi raining down in the Gorge one day which the Crawlers got ahold of, the same chi that Laval dropped in the Gorge. The other heroes get angered at Laval for creating the Crawlers, causing him to go to the cave where the Lion Beast is trapped. Scorm's mech fire seemingly kills him but he barely escapes behind rockfall. The rest of the heroes, convinced by Eris fight a prolonged fight with the Crawlers and Rogon uses his new firearm to collapse the cave, killing many Crawlers. Laval manages to free the Lion Beast from a water trap and they fight their way out of the cave when Lavertus arrives, using golden chi to create an exit amidst the rockfalls. Lavertus is killed by rocks that fall upon him as the heroes escape, and they find that Scorm followed them by speedor to the exist of the cave but is blocked by rock debri, and he tells Laval through an exposed hole in the rockpile that he'll be back for revenge. Laval chooses to give him a last orb of chi for Scorm to escape as an act of mercy. The heroes return to Chima with the Beasts who use their powers to restart the chi falls. At the cave Scorm expresses anger towards his craving for chi and blames them for the deaths of the many Crawlers, and angrily throws the chi orb Laval gave him down a vertical crevice. Cutting to months later, the orb lands next to the zombified body of Fangar the Smilodon causing him to animate, causing him to awaken.

13

Months after defeating the Crawlers, Chima has reached a state of relative peace including Cragger and Laval becoming friends and the wolves and ravens renouncing many of their malicious activities. Eris however is plagued by haunted dreams depicted a wave of ice sweaping across Chima and the Phoenix rising on Cavora. Her friends don't take her seriously causing her to distance herself in an effort to find out what it means, and she researches the Phoenix, ancient guardians of Chima who's kingdom was on top of Cavora. Elsewhere, Scorm blames chi for all of his troubles and orders his surviving Crawlers to get rid of it before finding a way out. The chi tumbles down a crevice next to the zombified remains of the Hunter tribes, and their leader Fangar is the first to be awakened. He takes the fallen chi and uses it to animate the rest of his men, including mammoth queen Maula and her sons Mottrot and Mungus, and the vulture king Vardy. Fangar declares they'll finish what they previously started, and they all exit the Gorge with a magical wave of ice following them. They find the remaining Crawlers and freeze them, including Scorm and Spinlyn. They exit the entire cave and find their old vehicles in ruins, using their ice element to power them. They converge on the crocodile swamp freezing everyone except Cragger and Crooler, who barely manage to escape taking Crug with them. Eris forsees this and she and Cragger urge Chima to militarize. All of the tribe's armies confront the Hunters at the swamp but find most of their troops dead or frozen, forcing retreat.

14

As resistance against the Hunters has proven futile, Eris convinces Laval and Cragger to accompany her to find the Phoenix atop Cavora. After a prolonged expedition, they reach the top while many of Chima's troops are fighting the Hunters. They find the Phoenix king Fluminox and other tribal members including his air force pilots Flortrax and Frax, the tiger Tormak, and leopard philosopher Lundor. Fluminox tells the three that in ancient Chima there were more primitive animals with a select few being sapient, and that the Phoenix were warriors and philosophers who trained disciples. One of them was Fangar, the best student who craved power and led an army of Smilodons, mammoths, and vultures to overthrow them. They nearly succeed but the Phoenix perform a cleansing ritual called the Great Illumation, performed by nine phoenix wearing the fire winged harnesses. However the illumination was imperfect and trapped the Hunters in a glacier in the Gorge, the event which formed Cavora and distributed chi to the rest of the animals. Fluminox gives the three fire chi after Laval and Cragger pass the trial by fire, meeting Fluminox's son Flinx. Using the new chi they manage to turn the odds in their favor in the war.

15

In order to test the other tribes for access to fire chi, Fluminox puts them through a trial where they have to fight and defend the Crescent, a second home to the Phoenix. The Cresent is protected by a fire shield enchanted by the phoenix. Everyone defends it for a while valiantly but are held back by Skinnet, eventually saved by Fluminox's ship. Laval also meets Tormaks' adoptive lion daughter Li'ella and develops feelings for her. In the meantime he tells his father the story about the phoenix, and Lagravis attempts to learn humor. The Cresent becomes a distribution site for fire chi for the tribes, and using it the tribes manage to resist the Hunters. To combat this the Hunters attack using ancient tunnel systems they formed. Fangar is shown to be obsessed with making tropheys of his victims and wishes to take Flinx hostage. Laval and Eris manage to protect him over the course of the war.

16

Fangar captures and displays several warriors during the coming conflict and the crocodile military is completely abducted by him. Fangar attempts to capture Flinx with no avail, and the heroes devise a plan to rescue the captives in Fangar's mountain fortress. Fangar however suddenly attacks the lion temple and takes Lagravis hostage, but the others are saved by Tormak. Laval temporarily takes charge of the throne and must deal with many Hunter attacks and pleas for help by tribes, but he's interrupted when Fangar's army attack the city and nearly overrun it, but the Phoenix aircraft drives them out and Tormak and Li'ella seal the tunnels close to the city.

17

The heroes of Chima lead a massive siege on Fangar's fort to get their people back. With help from the beavers they set a trap for the ice mountain, which Fangar's men dislodge to use as a moving fortress. As Flinx is trying to find his spark and unlock his full elemental fire, he uses his powers to unfreeze all the prisoners once the heroes get inside. They however are forced to fight the Crawlers in a three way battle, and the top of the ice mountain is destroyed by Flinx, leading to many Crawlers to die or escape. The heroes successfully release the captive people and escape the mountain. However Fangar manages retribution by abducting Li'ella, causing Tormak rage. Fangar threatens Li'ella and offers Tormak a deal to steal a precious Phoenix artifact for him for unknown reasons. Tormak oblidges and steals it, the artifact being the Phoenix's three dimensional map of Chima. Tormak doesn't listen to Fluminox's pleas and once the artifact touches the Crescent border it explodes, killing several Hunters but not Tormak, who's skin turns black and the artifact magic gets absorbed within him. He finds that Fangar lied about his exchange for Li'ella and runs into the forests.

18

The phoenix look for Tormak to condemn him for stealing the artifact, but find little sign of him. Eris is also plagued with visions of the Hunters completely overrunning Chima. Their mission is diverted when it's reported that Flinx ran away from the Crescent, which is seen as a trap. Flinx falls into the Gorge but survives, and the phoenix, Laval, Cragger, and Eris join in finding him. They descend the phoenix plane into the Gorge and Fangar's army burries it with debri and freezing it over. The characters find Flinx but find themselves trapped in until they find Lavertus, who was alive and managed to use golden chi to shelter himself from death. He explains to Laval about how the chi he gave Scorm actually formed the Hunters. Lavertus lends everyone remaining golden chi orbs and they use it to craft large pillars to push the debri, allowing them to leave the Gorge. However to everyone's horror they find Fangar's men have frozen the majority of Chima during that time, and that they're almost ready to attack Cavora.

19

The Hunters and their full army pushes the ice mountain to attack the lion kingdom. In the meantime the characters find Tormak and it's shown that the artifact map is inside him and that he can display it. The fire winged harnesses that were used during the illumination were indicated by the map, the reason Fangar wanted them. Using this the characters split up and race against Fangar's men to recover all 8 firewing harnesses before Fangar's men. The Hunter army attacks the lion city and overruns it, overwhelming the Legend Beasts and men. They also release the Ice Bear tribe, who swiftly defeat the armies of Chima, but the primal instincts of the bears kick in in response so they join the fight. Laval gathers his friends and states the illumination will cleanse Chima of evil so they must do it perfectly this time. Each of the eight heroes, Laval, Cragger, Gorzan, Worriz, Eris, Razar, Rogon, and Bladvick wear a harness and produce fire wings, flying to Cavora to perform the illumination. Fangar has managed to break into the temple and power his mountain with the chi, shaping it into a giant ice tower that latches onto Cavora, destroying the phoenix plane. Cavora's Phoenix Kingdom is completely overrun with Hunters and frozen, and Fluminox is confronted in a duel and beaten. Fangar tells Flinx about how Fluminox was meant to be the ninth Phoenix, who would complete the illumination in the past. But he rejected the role to look after Flinx, causing the imperfection and consequentially the Hunters to become zombified. Fangar tries to kill Flinx in front of Fluminox but Flinx jumps into the well in the center of Cavora as the eight heroes rush into the mountain with the harnesses. Flinx is transformed into a giant phoenix and uses his fire to cleanse Chima of the ice and evil, purifying the Hunters back into mortal form. The citizens of Chima rejoice in their everlasting peace and the Hunters and surviving Crawlers choose to reform. The aftermath shot shows Chima being a floating continent above a larger planet.
