Chapter 6
Before the darkness, the light shone
*Note that this story takes place off Seabound and Crystalized that is why there are some inconsistencies with the series.

Light :
"Long before time had a name, the First Spinjitzu Master created Ninjago using four elemental weapons. But when he passed, a dark presence sought out to collect them all..." Those was the words of Sensei Wu, but something was missing, something was wrong, what about the balance ? Light and darkness, both together, no rivalry, no hatred, just... balance. The first Spinjitzu might have created Ninjago but who made his soul ? You may think of the Oni and The Dragons, but who created them ? The Master of souls... not Liang, the first master of souls. Through the time, the power of souls was given through legacy until Liang, the latest master of souls.
Liang had a friend, a good friend.
"Hey pal what's the difference between an apple and a banana?" Asked Liang to his best friend
"Hum, I don't know, tell me" answered his good friend
"I actually don't know..." answered Liang
"Mo' ! It's time to go home" Called the friend's mother
"I must go now, see you next week Liang" said the friend
"See you next week, Morro"
You might think, how ? It was said that Liang knew the first Spinjitzu master, and he actually did ! Liang had many lives. Liang wasn't an actual person, he was more like a soul, a ghost, a spirit. He was a little bit like the overlord, he couldn't get killed, an undead man, immortal, a god. If Liang was killed, all the souls in the world of Ninjago would die, he was a soul keeper, the master of souls.
Darkness :
"Liang ! My old friend ! How are you ?" Said the first spinjitzu master.
"I'm fine my dear friend, I'm fine" Liang said to his friend with a friendly and kind handshake "How are you sons ?"
"Well... there his an issue" Said the first spinjitzu master as he became pale
"What ?! What happened ?" Said Liang has he was shocked
"Wu is fine but Garmadon... there is something wrong with him, he changed, a snake bit him, and it's seems that this snake had some sort of... venom that completely changed Garmadon. Anger is taking over him, darkness is taking over him. I think the worst thing has happened to my son, I think the great devourer bit him !"
"THE GREAT DEVOURER ?! But... how ?! I thought I had destroyed it, I... I don't understand" Liang was shocked, he didn't understood how it was possible.
"I already told you my friend, darkness never sleeps ! If there is light, there will always be darkness, that's how it works Liang" affirmed the first spinjitzu master
"It is unfortunately true. And we can't make it change. If we want the balance to be stable, light and darkness must share Ninjago" Said Liang with regret "I hope Garmadon will be fine"
"I Hope so"
"Anyways, What are you doing this days ?" Asked Liang
"Well I am righting actually righting a new parchment. With a strange power, but it is to powerful, so when I will finish it, I will make sure nobody finds it. It may be used only in a high level of danger... worst that the overlord..."
"Oh well, I hope you'll keep it safe and protected."
"Liang, you are a great friend of mine, I trust you more than anyone, you are wise, brave, powerful, peaceful and mostly... merciful, I want to give you one of the parchment. Maybe one day, I will need you. Here" the first spinjitzu master with a high trusting fellowship gave Liang the parchment.
"Thank you my old friend. But let's hope this day may never come, I must go now, I have personal things to do,"
The two friends went in there own directions with a goodbye wave.
The turn :
It was late, while lying on his bed, Liang was thoughtful, he crossed his memory to remember the good times he had spent in his life but also the bad times. But something was off, something was weird, different.
"Liang master of souls !" Said a deep loud voice
Liang jumped of his bed, took his dao, holding it in a defensive manner, "Who's here ?!"
"It depends !" Answered the voice
"Show yourself, I'm armed !" Liang shouted
"I cannot, I am no longer a form" Explained the voice.
"Then what are you, who are you, where are you ? Am I getting crazy ?! Are you even real ?!" Asked Liang
"You aren't getting crazy, I am real, I am the darkness itself, I am the one everyone regrets, I am everywhere" answered the voice "I am half of existence, but one day I will be the whole thing."
After this description, Liang immediately understood who he had to deal with.
"You're the Overlord ! You are supposed to be destroyed !" Shouted Liang
"I cannot be destroyed, to have light, darkness is needed, I can only be separated ! Which brings me to you"
"What do you want from me ?!"
"Help" answered the Overlord
"What ?! I will NEVER help you !!"
"Oh yes you will because if you don't I will make sure that you see all your friends and family die in a slow and painful death" exclaimed The Overlord
"That's where you are wrong, you cannot hurt my family, you are just a soul !"
"Being a soul doesn't mean that I don't have any power, I am stronger than what you think"
Liang was fearless, he raised his weapon and started attacking hoping to hit the soul, but he never could.
"With the power that I have, I could make you unstoppable... stronger than your greatest friend !" Explained the Overlord
"Powerful... hmm" Liang dropped his sword and started thinking about all the power he could get. He could become stronger than the first spinjitzu master without a doubt "How could I believe you, wouldn't you be lying to me?"
"How could I, after all, your friend was never able to destroy me ! And I know you want power, I can see it and I can feel it, your chance has come, JOIN ME and together we will destroy the first spinjitzu master."
There is one thing to know, jealousy was in Liang's heart, he always wanted to be stronger than his friend. But friendship was holding him from attacking him.
Liang took his sword and bowed down "Please... Give me the power"
A brokenfriendship:
Liang had arrived to the monastery, he knocked the door. The first spinjitzu master opened.
"My friend how are you do-" the first spinjitzu master didn't had time to finish his sentence that Liang gave him a punch than pushed him from the gate to one of the pillars. Liang eyes was purple, purple fire was burning in his hands. After seeing Liang hands and eyes the first spinjitzu master had understood what happened to Liang. He understood that he was corrupted by the Overlord.
"Liang my friend... DON'T DO THIS"
With a deep voice Liang answered "WE ARE NOT FRIENDS" Liang used a powerful purple and dark blast trying to kill his old friend, but Wu's father defended himself. And knew what he had to do.
With a broken heart, the first spinjitzu master had done what he never wanted to do "I am sorry Liang but I have no choice!" He opened a bag he had on him and brought out the Realms crystal and blast it's power on Liang and sent him into the departed realm.
"WAKE UP !" Said the overlord
Liang opened his eyes "YOU LIED ! YOU POWERS WASN'T ENOUGH TO DEFEAT HIM"
"That his because I just gave you a taste of my power, I will bring you back to life... but you will have to wait years... a lot of years !"
