CHAPTER 14
The following weekend of Saturday, October 8th, Ana decided to have Christian visit her company in Salem, Oregon. Christian said he wanted to fly Charlie Tango there. They would fly from SeaTac to Salem Municipal Airport and have a rental limo waiting to shuttle them around.
The reason Charlie Tango crashed back in the end of last July, was due to the mechanic hired to keep up maintenance that he was hired to do on a regular schedule and was just writing in the schedule that he did it. Christian not only fired him but sued him for damages, negligence and injury. The guy was totally financially screwed.
Ana packed a fancy wicker extra large picnic basket that has a mini sealed cooler in it and fits a bottle of wine strapped to the inside, a mini cutting board, a blanket strapped to the outside with all the cutlery and plastic tableware. She packed homemade fried chicken, homemade potato salad, homemade broccoli salad, cut up fresh fruit, and cut up different cheeses with crackers. She also packed her emergency flying kit and cellular signal booster in a backpack. After Christian's adventure into her back field, she wasn't taking chances of not being able to deal with emergencies.
Before they left, Anna wore her black form fit leather pants, her black Tory Burch banana heel buckle boots and Anna Quan's Chanel long sleeve black cotton rib-knit top with a sweetheart neckline with her black Gucci double G pearl belt. Her hair was down and she had her smokey eye and light makeup. She took her laptop bag, purse, and leather trench coat. And wore her black designer sunglasses. The only drag was her brace and wrist sling. Christian helped her get dressed and put on his coat. He carried her purse and laptop. Taylor carried the picnic basket and the emergency backpack kit. Sawyer came with them to drive them to SeaTac. Christian said Sawyer was going to be her PPO bodyguard because he was announcing their engagement on Monday or if the press gets a look at her finger before then.
They boarded the helicopter and Christian strapped her in the passenger seat and whispered, "There is no escaping me now, Mrs Grey." She giggled at him and he smiled and kissed her. He got her cans on her head and went and got in the pilot's seat. Taylor had everything secured in the back. After Christian's flight checks and tower clearance, they took off to Salem Municipal Airport in Oregon. It was a beautiful and about an hour and a half flight. The limo was waiting as they walked out of the terminal. They got in and drove off to her company.
She had her security badge she kept in her wallet all the time and went to the front desk there was a security guard there on a Saturday.
She smiled at him, handed him her badge and driver's license and said, "I'm Anastasia Steele the owner and these two gentlemen are my guests. Can you give them visitor badges for now, please? I also need permanent badges made for each of them at the highest level of clearance for the future. We can pick them up when we leave." They both handed him their driver's licenses. The guard scanned them into his system and handed them forms to fill out. They both filled them out. Ana waited patiently. The guard asked about her arm. She told him a man grabbed her arm roughly being a cruel jerk and she told him what she had to do to him. The guard laughed and said she handled it very well. He said he was formerly in the army and taught his daughter how to defend herself too at twelve years old. Ana said she was proud of him because more men should teach their daughters that. She said she was a Marine brat herself. He smiled at her.
Christian and Taylor handed them their forms and Ana said goodbye to Mr Stevens, the guard, and they would be back in a little while to pick up the badges. Their machine took a little while and the information had to be typed in to process it. They went up the elevator to the twelfth floor. Christian was impressed at what a nice building it was all in warm earth tones, nothing like his stone, white, formal building.
She went up to the CEO's office and walked in there at the desk was a large muscular fifty year old black gentleman. Ana had called him earlier to let him know she was coming in.
Ana said, "Hi, Uncle David, you're looking well." He jumped up and ran over and gently scooped her up in his arms spinning around with her hugging him back. She had her head on his shoulder giggling.
David said, "I love and miss you so much, my little girl. You finally dressed up like your daddy wanted. You went and hurt yourself. I bet the other guy looks worse. Come sit down everyone" He put her down and everyone took a seat on the comfortable furniture.
Ana laughed and said, "You know he does. I got 'em' good, Uncle D. I want to introduce you to my fiancé. This is Christian Grey the CEO of Grey Enterprise Holdings. Christian, this is my favorite Uncle David Jackson, he and my father were inseparable. He is the CEO of my company." David shook Christian's hand.
David said, "Ana said you crashed in her back field on the phone. You ok now, son?"
Christian said, "I am alive and well thanks to Anastasia. She is amazing in everything." David smiled and nodded.
Ana said, "This is Jason Taylor, he is Chief of security for Christian and GEH. He's also my number two cookie fan, Christian got first place." David shook hands with Taylor.
Taylor said, "I'm glad to meet you. Semper Fi."
David said, "That girl is an amazing baker. What rank?"
Taylor said, "O-4."(Major)
David said, "O-6. Her daddy was the only O-7 in the team of the nine of us (Colonel) (Brigadier General). He got all our asses out alive and made many differences to protect the country. Her father was a brilliant strategist. He could get your ass out of a jam slicker than snot. That man was my best friend and damn genius. Never met another like him. The country lost one helluva man when he passed. We were SOG elite. We had to be a Special Ops Raider O-4 to O-6 just to qualify for the squad, not to mention the specialist factor. We were made up specialists in each field, the best of the best, of tech ops, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, strategist, tactical, sharp shooting, reconnaissance, communications, and mobility ops. They stuck our asses into the tightest hairpin shit and we had to do the job and get the fuck out like a ghost. We were cross trained for back ups among us. We were all sharp shooters but Baxter could shoot a fucking fly off your shoulder at a 100 yards with a Mk22 Mod 0. We all were really something back then."
Christian asked, "What did all of you do after you left your positions?" Christian found it interesting what her father and uncles did as friends.
David said, "We were all retired after we thoroughly trained our replacements. It was after 9-11 in 2001. We did it from 1996 to 2001. It was high stress and they do replacement, before burnout can occur. It's a five year rotation. We each went to different positions in high rank in the government, FBI, CIA, Whitehouse security, NSA, federal judicial, Pentagon, IRS and then there was me. I retired from the DOJ/DEA, when Ray and Ana wanted me to run their company for them. I remember Ana had just finished highschool at fifteen years old. We were all so proud of her. They both really increased to double the size of the company during those two years before Ana went to college. After she was there six months, Ray got sick and she took good care of him, bless his soul. It was an easy job for me from what I've done in the past and the family liked it because it was safer. I can weed the garden around her pretty damn good. Ana is a mathematical genius and had everything laid out completely with her dad in the beginning. It was a well oiled machine once hiring started. They had it start out small until it grew into this. We employ about 2500 people and we are growing everyday." Christian was impressed.
Christian said, "What if, down the road, we do a merger. I think this company can run autonomously under the GEH umbrella. Not much would change but increased benefits and financial backing. My company is way bigger but the added revenue with security increases the value. Of course, it's up to Anastasia."
Ana said, "We'll see down the road. Next time we can come here and you can see the place with people in it working. Uncle David, did you tell Eliza Jean about my wedding?"
David said, "Yes, she got excited. December 30th, right?" Ana nodded. "Good. I'm in the dog house today. I didn't tell her I was coming here to see you and she was in her housecoat and slippers when I was dressed and leaving. She was mad I didn't tell her, so she could see you. You know how she is? She'd be pounding you with questions and 'mother henning' you. I just wanted time to talk with ya and meet your future husband." Ana hugged him.
David said, "You shoulda seen this girl get my spoiled girls to let me teach them self defense. They thought they were too fancy and prissy for it. Ana was sixteen. She came and stayed a few days and told them she loved learning from her dad. She told them there was nothing sexier than a woman who could kick some ass and she started learning at eight years old. She took my girls that Friday night to see a movie "Mr and Mrs Smith", with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I had all three girls in the backyard in tshirts and sweatpants wanting lessons that morning after breakfast. My one daughter, Lisa, is an instructor for women's self defense courses given at colleges and universities. She calls it a Women's Empowerment Group. It's all because of Ana. She shined the light on my girls and they understood." Christian could see Ana do that and motivate little prissy girls into little fighting machines. Christian wondered if she could help his sister, Mia, find direction into something in her life? He had to wait and see because she was a force of nature.
They toured the building and talked. Christian found it all entertaining the stories about Ana as a little girl. They kept her in secure places and never allowed her to be in harm's way when they traveled with her. She got along well in different countries and learned basic communication skills with people they left her with, no matter the language barrier. They would find her playing and laughing with them. She didn't travel into bad areas and she was always good staying with one of their families too for a short time. When they stayed at bases each of the uncles would switch off babysitting Ana. You would think it an inconvenience, but not them. He said they loved it because she was smarter than most kids her age from seven to twelve. They all became attached to her and had their own little stories to tell about her.
When they finally left, Ana gave a teary goodbye and told David she loved him. They went in the limo to a local park and had a picnic. Ana made up a plate for all three of them. She and Christian sat on the blanket on the ground drinking wine. Taylor had a coke and sat at a picnic bench. The guys loved lunch, it was Ana's recipes. They went back to the airport and flew back home.
—--
One Sunday the next day, Ana decided to go shopping at some of the small stores. She found a store called, 'Miniature Car Dealer'. It was a model car and planes and stuff. She walked down the aisles and was looking at the different kinds of cars. A nice older man came up to her and asked what she was looking for. She described the three types of models she wanted. She had him order two remote control Audi R8 Spyders, a solar powered model Eurocopter EC 130 and a remote control sailboat. He went through his inventory and the catalog inventories. He made a couple calls and got hold of the manufacturers of those three models. He said that he would have them in two to four weeks. Ana gave him all her contact information.
She went down to Starbucks and got a large vanilla latte. She found a store called 'Fini'. They had a black wool handmade 1920's round bucket hat and a big four inch pretty metal enameled red rose pin to pin to the side of the hat for winter. It was her middle name after all. She found some black leather cashmere lined gloves. Now all she needed was to go back to Neiman Marcus and get a winter coat.
She left to go to the bookstore next. Her car was in front of it. She dropped off her packages in her car and went inside. She was looking for best sellers and cook books for ideas. She got caught up in the magazine area for a while. She bought two magazines and two cookbooks.
Ana was coming out of a bookstore with her packages. She put her bag on the passenger seat and went to get in her car. She felt it. She spun around and saw Jack Hyde standing right behind her with a gun in his hand at point blank range. She sat down in the car seat. She had her purse on the console between the two seats. It was behind her back. She started shoving her phone in her pocket of her leather trench coat and the safety was on the gun, she did the same with it.
Jack nastily said, "Didn't think you'd see me again, did ya bitch. I posted bail and came looking for your skinny ass. Wouldn't you know I see you walking down the street. How opportune. You pressed charges, but I'll make them all disappear. You don't have to worry about that. I found your little ass and I'm gonna hit that shit hard until your pussy explodes. You think you're so goddamn smart getting one up on me. You ain't shit."
Ana said, "No, I didn't think I'd see you again. As you can see I'm at a disadvantage thanks to you. Did you mean like the way you made them disappear in New York, Atlanta and Chicago?" His eyes bugged out.
He angrily said, "How the fuck did you find that out?"
Ana said, "Shocking what a bit of digging can turn up, huh Jack. Your a real deviate of society with statutory rape of a fifteen year old, attempted rape and sexual misconduct. You must make your daddy proud. You get your royal Parliament daddy to bail you out again?" She was shaking him up.
He growled out, "Fuck you, ya little bitch. You know nothing about me, but you're soon going too."
He looked around, keeping the gun trained on her. It was a sticky moment and he could kill her if it discharged this close.
He said, "Get out of that car. You're coming with me. I'm parked around the corner from here." She got up and took her keys and shoved them in her front pocket and locked the door. He stuck the gun in his jacket pocket and shoved her forward as she walked off towards his car.
