–WFI–Chapter 26 Monday, August 30 Part II
Rory went to change into something more comfortable. She then went to work in the office until she heard the doorbell. She got up to answer it. She was expecting Leslie. She was not expecting who was at the door. Before she could say or do anything, the person was standing in the foyer.
"Well, I would invite you in," Rory laughed, "Who am I kidding, I wouldn't invite you in, that's why you pushed your way in," Rory said. Evelyn had heard the doorbell and was headed to answer it. When she turned the corner from the dining room, she saw the visitor. She stepped back, meeting Rory's eyes.
Evelyn went to the kitchen and grabbed the phone. She dialed Logan's cell phone. "Logan, this is Evelyn. You need to get home now. Shira is here, she pushed her way past Rory. They are standing in the foyer… Yes sir." Evelyn hung up the phone. She grabbed the pitcher of lemonade out of the refrigerator and a couple of glasses. She called Bailey. "Don't bring the kids home until I call you back." She told Bailey. She hung up before she could ask any questions.
"Rory," Evelyn said, making sure Shira heard her call Rory by her name and not Ma'am or Mrs. Huntzburger. "I have refreshments for you and your intruder, I mean guest," Evelyn said with a smile, sitting the tray on the coffee table. She then poured three glasses of lemonade offering one to Rory, talking another for herself, and sitting down across from Rory.
"Thank you, Evelyn," Rory said, taking a sip. "This is delicious," Rory commented.
"Thank you, Rory, I just talked with Bailey. She will be a while," Evelyn said, looking Rory in the eyes. Rory nodded.
Rory turned to Shira, looking at her watch. "You don't have very much time. You will need to go ahead and say your piece. If you are very quiet, you can hear the sirens." Rory said, smiling.
"Logan would not allow you to have me locked up," Shira said.
"Shira," Evelyn said. "Are you on drugs? Drunk? High? Logan will choose Rory, his wife over you any day." Evelyn said.
Shira smiled. "I understand that Sheila Goodyear has a granddaughter. The poor thing. She had never gotten over her son's death. I believe his name was Austin." Shira said with a smirk. "I just wanted to stop by to see if you needed anything. It must be amazing to wake up and find you have a wealthy grandmother. I have information that I think you will find…..interesting." Shira said as the siren grew louder. Evelyn got up to go to the door. Before she could open it, Logan came rushing in.
"Shira, What are you doing here? You do realize that you will be going to jail. I have a no-trespass order for all the property Rory and I own. The cops are here. I had them wait outside. I needed to make sure that the kids were not here." Logan said.
"Bailey has them. It will be a while." Evelyn added. Rory still had not said anything.
Shira was just sitting there with a smirk on her face. "Rory, would like for Logan to have the officers take me away, or would you like to hear what I have to say?" Shira asked
Logan looked at Rory, "What is she talking about?" Logan asked.
Rory looked away from Shira and looked at Logan. "She says she has information on Sheila Goodyear," Rory said. She turned to look at Shira again and saw Karson entering the pool house. She was home from finishing up her classroom. Rory looked at Evelyn and shook her head oh so slightly. Evelyn got up, went to the kitchen, and then to the poolhouse. She didn't want to bring attention to Karson going into the pool house. So she left from the kitchen door instead of the french doors leading to the patio.
Logan stood up. "Shira, you can walk out that front door with me to turn yourself in or I can go to the door and have them come in to get you. Whatever you have to say about Sheila Goodyear, I am sure that my PI will be able to find out." Logan said.
"If you say so Logan, You have always known best," Shira said, smiling at Logan as she got up. "Oh, by the way, I have a beautiful granddaughter. She looks just like Honor did at that age." Shira walks to the door and opens it up. Logan follows her. She is still smiling when the officers put handcuffs on her and put her in the back of the car.
Logan is standing at the door, talking to one of the officers. He told him that he would be pressing charges. The officer took his statement and left. He walked back in. Rory was sitting in the same spot. Logan sat down beside her. "Ace, Dillon will find out whatever it is that Shira knows. You know that if Shira knows, other people know." Rory nodded her head and smiled at Logan.
She leaned over and kissed him. "I know that you will take care of this. I know it will all be okay."
Rory gets up and heads upstairs. Logan sits there for a few minutes. Not sure what he is supposed to do. He heads to the office. He calls Dillon and tells him what is going on. While he was on the phone with Dillon, he heard the doorbell ring. He then heard Beverly. When he hung up. Beverly was in the pool with Karson. He goes to the door and waves. He heads upstairs but Evelyn stops him. She told him that Bailey and the kids would be back soon and for him and Rory to take their time. She had everything under control. The steaks had arrived and were being marinated. Logan nodded.
When Rory and Logan returned from upstairs, everyone was in the pool. Logan had on his board shorts and a tee shirt. Rory had on a sundress over her La Double J Triangle Bikini. Ricky had the grill started. Karson was still in the pool playing with the kids. Christopher arrived before time to eat.
Everyone enjoyed the time together. The open house starts tomorrow night. Then school starts Wednesday. Em will go all day this year. Rory and Logan had discussed it and decided that when Karson and Ricky move out, they will not move the office back to the pool house. They will leave it in the house. Rory is going to ask for more proofing jobs. She was also starting a new book series.
