Um... This starts in the Manga universe (I think), and then promptly throws all semblance of cannon-ness out the window. Be afraid. This is likely the weirdest thing I've written, but my muses just got back from a several week long vacation, so I'm just happy they're back. Mentions of Character death and Insane Yami no Yuugi.
I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh...Damn it, can't think of anything witty to say. Oh well.
Yami is in a dark place, cold as he waits for his other half.
He's late.
He should know not be late. Yami has told him and told him and told him, but he's late!
Again!
"HIKARI!"
Other half heard him: he knows he did. Dear little Hikari squeaked. Hikari pokes his head around a corner, sees his darkness, and turns away again and hides.
Foolish Hikari, doesn't he known he can't hide in here, in Yami's mind?
"Hikari, you can not hide from me. I will find you. It is my mind. I know where you are."
There. Another squeak. He's getting closer.
"Hikari, come here."
"No!"
"Why not?"
"You killed my friends!"
He blinked as he stopped in his search.
".... They hurt you."
"No they didn't!"
Yami started moving again. He needed to find his other half, to shake him and ask what nonsense he was talking about.
"Come here!"
"NO!"
There. Yami found him. Interesting place to hide, it is. The chamber of Yami's memories.
Hikari should know that chamber is empty. It always has been.
"Hikari."
"Get away from me!"
"No. We must talk."
"About what?" Hikari was standing now, snarling at his darkness.
"Why do you defend those who hurt you?" Yami snarled back, angry that his other half didn't understand.
"I told you, they didn't hurt me!"
"Yes they did! I had to defend you!"
"NO YOU DIDN'T!"
Yami was taken aback by his other half, but his surprise quickly dissolved into anger. How dare he defy his Yami! The one who had given up everything to save him! He had come out of the darkness, his home to defend him, only to receive this as thanks!
"Be quiet! Do you know what I gave up to protect you? "
A strangled whisper, "It doesn't matter. My friends are dead. I don't see why I should care."
"Hikari...."
"DON'T CALL ME THAT!"
"What's wrong?" Yami tilted his head to the side, clearly confused. To his surprise, his Hikari stared to laugh out loud, deep and throaty and sorrow-filled.
"What's wrong? What's wrong? You are!"
A slow blink.
"...What?"
"Didn't you hear me? You're what's wrong! You killed Jou, Honda, and Anzu! My only friends! DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?"
Another slow blink.
"...No, I do not."
Hikari just continued to laugh. Yami didn't understand. He... was wrong?
"I want you to leave."
.... What?
"I said I want you to leave!"
"... But why?"
"Because I hate you! I want you to leave!"
"...All right..."
Hikari looked up. He didn't expect Yami to give up so easily.
"You want to know why I gave up so easily." Yami guessed
"...Yes."
"You are my master, and if you want me to leave, I will."
Poor, poor Hikari. He still doesn't understand.
"But... Then why did you kill my friends?"
"I thought it necessary. I am your guardian. It is my duty to defend you. If you feel you do not need me, then I will leave."
Yami walked out of the room, and turned his head to the side.
"Goodbye... Yuugi."
Outside of the corridors of his mind, in the physical world ....
The Sennen Puzzle shattered.
Did I scare anyone off?
Good, just checking. Let me tell you, it was hard not making this Yaoi. But I don't and won't write that. Ra, I finish Order of the Phoenix, turn on my computer, start typing, and come out with this. My mind works in weird ways.
