Kenzie pulled her blade from the throat of one of the guards she just killed. Charlie was cleaning her own knife after slitting another guard's throat. One of the guards was still partially alive, so Sky came up and put him down with a single shot from his delta blaster, Jack came up shortly after
"Airfield's just up ahead. Let's move, people," Sky instructed, and Jack followed just behind him as they neared the observation point.
Charlie directed her attention to Kenzie, saying "Let's go find this bitch."
They went up the small hill until they were overlooking the entire airstrip. Her Submarine sat ready for takeoff, and nearby was at least a dozen or more vehicles, some of them with mounted machine guns. As for the minions on the ground, there was a fuckton of them. More than had been present at Elgar's complex, they were made up of Phiranatons,Quantrons, Cogs, Cedals, Yokai, Tenga and Stingwingers,
"Well, well, that fucker Elgar wasn't lying," Sky noted, looking down at the scene below.
"It's like a fucking bad guy convention down there," Jack commented.
"Charlie, get on that sniper rifle," Sky ordered, "Kenzie, scan the area. We need a positive ID on Divatox before things go hot."
Charlie went prone and set up the bipod of her weapon, adjusting the scope so her line of sight was clear. Kenzie took out her binoculars and observed the scene below.
"Any sign of Divatox?" Sky asked.
"No, not yet," Kenzie said, scanning all over for signs of the space pirate. She saw numerous Generals standing guard, but none of them looked like Divatox. She hoped to God that Elgar wasn't lying or she was gonna kill the bastard herself when they returned planetside.
Upon further observation, she took a look further at the minion on the ground. Elgar said something about a deal going on, but with whom?
That's when she recognized the minions, completely white with a weird pattern on their bodied and green hair.
"Holy shit," Kenzie spoke aloud, "Vivex."
"What!?" Jack sounded shocked, "What the fuck is Sledge doing here!?"
"Whatever they're doing here, it can't be good," Sky responded.
"Do we abort?" Kenzie asked. Their mission priority was to assassinate Divatox, but the presence of Vivex and possibly Sledge changed things.
"No. Continue as planned. Divatox dies tonight," Sky told them, "Come on, we have a job to do."
"Truck coming in on the left," Jack noted, and both Kenzie and Charlie directed their attention to the incoming vehicle. The truck pulled to a stop, and someone got out of the backseat wearing a blue track jacket of some kind. She definitely stood out to everyone else on the airfield at the moment.
"I think I might have eyes on Divatox!" Kenzie exclaimed.
"Hold fire, we need to a positive ID or this whole thing goes to shit," Sky ordered, "Kenzie, can you make out his face?"
"Not yet, her back's turned," Kenzie replied. From the rear of the truck two associates of her were carrying a crate forward. One general soon identified ad Wrench approached from the other side, and from the way he approached and was speaking to the girl in the blue jacket it had to have been the leader of the group. The two opened the crate and Wrench inside, he and the blue jacket girl then walked closer to the plane, and they remained at just the right angle that they couldn't make out the her face.
"Shit, still no visual," said Kenzie.
They stepped onto the lowered ramp of the plane, where inside was more crates of the stuff. Just then, the girl in the blue jacket turned around and revealed herself as Divatox as Wrench stood just barely in front of her,
"It's her! It's Divatox!" Kenzie said, "I have a positive ID!"
"Matthews take the shot Now!" Sky ordered.
With an exhale of breath, Charlie aimed for Divatox's head and pulled the trigger. But as the bullet traveled through the air, Wrench took a step forward where his head was now blocking Divatox. The bullet hit Wrench's head knocking him down, but left Divatox unharmed.
"Fuck! I missed" Charlie swore as she chambered in another round. By then, Divatox realized what was going on and ran further into the plane. The Minions looked to where the shot came from, and the rangers knew they were compromised.
"Go loud!" Sky ordered, and the rangers started picking off the hostile on the airfield one by one. The ships engines began to start up, and if they weren't quick enough Divatox would get away.
"We have to stop that plane!" Sky ordered.
The rangers hooked their lines and ran down the hill. When they got down to the ground, one of the Cogs got on the back of one of the trucks and manned the .50 cal mounted on it. Without hesitation, Kenzie flicked a switch, and pulled the trigger, sending out a grenade and destroying the truck to smithereens.
"We can't stay here!" Charlie shouted, gunning down two Vivex with her rifle. A Quantrons was about to get the drop on Jack before Sky put a round in his head.
Two more trucks with MGs approached, and the engines of the ship were starting to pick up speed.
"Kenzie, use your grenade launcher!" Sky ordered. Kenzie ejected the empty grenade shell from he weapon and put in a new round. Charlie sniped the gunner of the one truck while Jack and Sky took care of the driver, meanwhile Kenzie stepped out and fired the launcher again, destroying yet another truck.
Even though the ramp was still down, the submarine ship was already starting to move across the airstrip.
"Shit, it's taking off!" Jack shouted.
"Get to that truck! Charlie, drive!" Sky ordered, pointing to the truck they had just cleared.
"Got it!" Charlie responded, sliding over the side of the hood to the driver's side and getting in.
"Kenzie, get on that .50 cal!" Sky ordered, and Kenzie clambered in the back before readying the gun. Sky got in the passenger's seat while Jack got in the backseat. Charlie started the engine and was racing to catch up to the ship.
Various minions were coming alongside in their trucks. Kenzie, with quick thinking, swerved the gun to meet them and opened fire. The heavy caliber rounds ripped easily through both metal and flesh, and Kenzie did not let up for a moment.
She swerved the gun to the right and took care of two more trucks and their gunners. Jack took out the driver of one from the backseat, causing the truck to crash into the one just behind it and get caught behind.
"That's right, fuck off!" Jack exclaimed.
"Goddamn it, they're getting away!" Charlie shouted.
"Not yet! Jack, deploy the RC!" Sky shouted.
Jack got to work readying the thing, then opened the truck door before placing the RC-XD on the ground. He then grabbed the controls of the thing and activated it, driving it forward towards the ship. He flipped a switch priming the explosive charge embedded within and had it speed up further. Jack was able to get it just under the landing gear.
"Blow it, Mason!" Sky ordered, and Jack pushed the detonation switch.
At once, the RC exploded, destroying the landing gear and parts of the lower ship with it, creating a terrific explosion.
"Holy shit!" Charlie exclaimed as Divatox's ship crashed back down against the runway. Some of the enemy vehicles driving alongside were crushed by debris, while one managed to swerve out of the way but lost control. Its side ended up slamming into the front of the truck the Rangers were in, and acting quickly Charlie drew her delta blaster and killed the driver and passenger. The enemy truck swerves away but the force of it causes Charlie to lose control of the truck.
"Everybody out, now!" Sky orders, and he, Charlie, Jack and Kenzie bail out of the truck and onto the airstrip. The ship continues exploding, and Kenzie can see one of the wings tumbling across the ground towards them.
"Oh fuck!" Kenzie screams and braces herself for what's to come.
Everything went black after that.
She doesn't know how much time has passed when she comes to. There's a ringing in her ears as fire and smoke surrounds him in-
"Kenzie!" Charlie calls out, "I found Kenzie, She's alive!"
Kenzie opens he eyelids to see Charlie up above her.
"Fuck, my head hurts," Kenzie comments.
"Least you're still breathing," Charlie laughs. She puts her hand out and Kenzie grabs hold of it, letting herself be pulled to her feet.
Kenzie looks around her at all the fire and debris.
"Holy shit," Kenzie said, "Where's Jack and Sky?"
"Sky's good, Jack is checking for Divatox," Charlie told her, helping to support the injured Kenzie
"That was one heckuva bang," Kenzie said, "Reminds me of that safehouse on Sentai 5."
"Come on, Kenzie, you know that none of us knew just how much gunpowder was in there," Charlie laughs again before helping Kenzie down onto the tarmac where she could rest for a few moments.
"Kenzie, thank God you're okay," Sky said, "If that explosion didn't kill Divatox, then Jack'll bring her here."
"Way ahead of ya," Jack responded from a distance, and out from the smoke of the wreckage Kenzie could see he was dragging Divatox across the tarmac.
"You piece of shit!" Jack shouted at her, throwing her in front for Sky, Charlie and Kenzie to see.
But Divatox laughed. The maniac was fucking laughing.
"SPD!" Divatox continued to laugh, "You Rangers really are that fucking stupid!"
Divatox pulled a pistol from her jacket, but Jack kicked the gun out of her hands before she could fire it. Sky approached the space pirate and picked the gun up off the ground.
"Come on, Arash. The game is up," Adler said.
Kadivar laughed again, "It was never about the hostages. Fools, all of you! His plan is underway, and you won't be able to stop him this time!"
"Stop who?" Mason asked.
"Perseus," Kadivar said with a sneer.
Bell's interest picked up, and he got up from where he was sitting. He started to walk towards the terrorist and asked, "What the fuck did you just say?"
"Dark Spectre, you imbecile," Divatox laughed at them all.
"Bullshit." Sky responded bluntly, "Dark Spectre is dead."
Sky cocks the pistol in his grip, meanwhile Divatox continues to laugh. Kenzie knew that something wasn't right, but she never thought she'd hear that name ever again.
Kenzie places a hand to her head. Hearing that name brought back painful memories.
"All this time, and you didn't even know!" Divatox laughs, "Dark Spectre will see the universe burn, and you along with it!"
Without any moments notice, Sky pulled the trigger of the pistol and shot Divatox in the head. Her blood and brains now decorated the ground.
Sky turned around after performing the deed and observing for any hostiles in the area behind them.
"The fuck was that!?" Kenzie suddenly shouted.
"Hm?" Sky grunted, turning back towards Kenzie, "What do you mean? Divatox? That was the mission."
"This asshole just told us Dark Spectre was alive, and you just shot her before we could see what else she knew?" Kenzie asked. This caught Charlie and Jack's attention, and their eyes went from Kenzie to Sky
"Hate to say it, but Kenzie got a point," Jack said, "We still don't know what the hell Divatox was doing here with Sledge or why the fuck they were giving them weapons."
"The mission comes first, Sergeant Landors. And our mission was to take out the space pirate," Sky said, "No loose ends."
"And you don't think that her mentioning of Dark Spectre warrants concern?" Kenzie asked harshly.
"It concerns me a great deal, Kenzie," Sky shot back, "That's why we'll brief Andros once we're back at Delta base."
Kenzie was still majorly concerned why in the ever-loving fuck Sky would just nonchalantly execute a lead like that.
"Come on, let's sweep the tarmac for survivors. Someone may know something," Sky said, walking off back.
"Who the fuck is Dark Spectre?" Jack asked, causing Kenzie to turn around to see both Her and Charlie were staring at him.
"Some say he's a ghost story," Kenzie said, "but I have family and friends that would say otherwise."
