My old A/N: Well, this is probably breaking EVERY SINGLE RULE. But rules are meant to be broken, so here goes! And this first chapter is basically a history on what's changed since the latest (in time) book, since this is set FAR into the future of Valdemar. Don't skip over it, or you'll be horribly confuzzled
So, R&R, once we get some plot here, and this is my first attempt at fanfic, so be nice, and I hope you like it!

It was called the Twelfth Age of Valdemar, for who-knows-what reason, and a great deal had changed; so much, in fact, that someone from one of the past ages would hardly know where there were. The artificers are at work on a fast way of public transportation, somewhat train like.
Two new Gifts were discovered; the first, Placeshifting, was like a cross between Jumping and Gating. The other was a Gift called Timeshifting, which is, as the name suggests, shifting the time for yourself, and, if you have a strong enough Gift, a few other people. These two are usually found together, and they have created a new class of Heralds: Herald-Shifters. The most powerful Herald-Shifter has a Council Seat, and this new class of Heralds proves itself useful for the Circle again and again.
Another major change is the creation of the Herald-Bard. This was created to quiet anger from quite a few Bardic Trainees that were Chosen, and it was a good thing that it had been instituted, now. There were so few Bards these days, and there are some things that people will tell a Bard that they won't . The result of the Herald-Bard was that those with Herald-potential that the Bardic Collegium snatched up could be Chosen with no regrets, and that was definitely a good thing.
There was also a sort of second Monarch's Own, called People's Own, Chosen by a Groveborn mare. Their duty is less for the sanity of the monarch and more for the sanity of the people, as a Mindhealer and just someone who will listen to them. The People's Own can also substitute for the Monarch's Own when needed, and vice versa. In a time when the Monarch's Own is being trained, there is no need to rush the training or internship, since the People's Own is there instead.
