Chapter 201 Muster
Sam and Bobby groaned as Dean helped himself.
"What do you think it is, Sam?" Bobby asked
"Well, we both felt relaxed after talking to Michael. We shook his hand and there was a strong vibration. Maybe it effected Dean differently than me." Sam could only shrug.
"Are you going to be able to eat dinner?" Bobby asked.
"Course." Dean smirked over at him.
"I hope so because the hunters have booked dinner at a restaurant and they want you both there."
"What time?" Sam asked.
"Seven. I'll text the address."
"Do you guys need help over there?"
Bobby sighed. "I think that's all we can do given the time we have. It's going to be a blow by blow kind of situation where we only know what's going to happen when it's happening. At the very minimum we will be holding back demons from the gate. Who knows if we will be any use? There's angels and demons at play so anything might happen. We might end up having front row seats to Armageddon."
Dean had finished his pie and made coffee for Bobby and Sam then lay on the couch with his head in Sam's lap.
"All we can do is rally the troops and hope for the best, Bobby. Even we don't know what's required. I hope Michael knows how to wash the Enochian away otherwise we are monster chow." Dean spoke to Bobby by leaning his head back.
"That's disturbing." Sam looked down at Dean, now that he had seen Dean's eyes he couldn't miss them. He had the eyes of a Gecko.
"Hmm, it is." Bobby scrubbed his beard.
They fell back into silence just watching the game and drinking coffee.
At five thirty Bobby suddenly noticed the time. "Well, I better get back. You know I'm way more relaxed since I came here. Maybe that stuff spreads. Another reason for you to come to dinner. We'll keep it short."
Dean and Sam went to the bed and lay together just looking for some time together before dinner. Sam thought they might have sex but just lying there kissing they were soon asleep.
Dean woke to his phone chiming by the bed. It was Bobby with the restaurant address. Dean wanted to go back to sleep but knew they should make an effort since they were here for them. He woke Sam gently who was surprised he had fallen to sleep. When Sam was awake enough he dragged him in for a hot shower with him. It was way too small for the both of them but Dean made it work, wanting to have some intimacy before the night got busy. They both wanted to shower anyway. They basically just stood in the water and hugged.
"I love this, Sammy. It's like my favourite thing."
"Hug naked?"
"Any hugging at all really but this is my favourite."
Eventually they washed and got out. Dean dressed in jeans for later but threw on a dress shirt since they were going to dinner. Sam followed suit, swapping his flannel for a dress shirt acknowledging a good idea. They put on jackets and walked to the impala. After a bit of back and forthing, Sam drove and Dean navigated since they weren't sure about his eyes. The last thing he wanted to do was wreck Baby.
The restaurant was bigger than they expected but it had to be to have a table big enough for 17 hunters. Bobby introduced everybody and the food came out. There were plates of food laid out on the table and you helped yourself with smaller plates. Sam couldn't believe how much Dean put away of the Mexican fare even though he had eaten all afternoon. After a glass of Margarita each the hunters all switched to water but they were all happy and jovial as the night wore on. Sam caught many of the hunters looking at Dean with a kind of awe and looking away should Dean turned their way. It amused him until he caught one doing it to him. No one mentioned Dean's eyes and they all left at nine wanting to rest for the big night. They were convinced nothing could be done to prepare anymore and many voiced the fact they will probably not be needed, but wanted to be there anyway.
Sam and Dean drove back to the hotel and did a last minute check of what they needed and made themselves ready.
"You're wearing your leather jacket?" Sam frowned.
"May as well go out in style."
"Okay." Sam changed into his. They drove and parked a little closer than last time. Dean did a last minute check by the trunk, empting their pocket of phones and anything else that would slow them down, but really they only had the angel blade and demon killing knife which would be nothing to Lucifer. They voted to leave the colt since it couldn't kill Lucifer and they only had two bullets for it. Dean tucked an old Glock he had at the back of his jeans with a shrug, it might be handy. They were there at 10 and were surprised to find Michael and Castiel already in conference with Egin at the center of the circle. They sat on the top steps and the angels and demon kept murmuring between themselves. At eleven hunters started appearing and sat along the top next to Sam and Dean.
At eleven thirty a row of guys in white shirts ringed the second lowest step. It was pretty clear they were angels. Some wore white jeans and some different coloured dress pants but they all wore white shirts. Shortly after, a motley crew of older guys appeared two steps up in different forms of dress. Michael looked up and talked to them, thanking them for coming. And speaking of Michael, Adams body looked bigger than it had before. It looked like he'd been going to the gym since they saw him, a lot. He was also taller than Adam had been. At ten to midnight Michael called Dean down to him. Sam went with him and Michael raised an eyebrow but allowed it.
There was complete silence.
Michael touched Dean on the arm. "We have muster. We will follow your plan. We believe it will work. Let's us convene at the gate. We have cleared the way."
