Warning Chapter 1

Chapter 202 Regiment

The angels and demons disappeared so the hunters walked to the site. Michael was closest to the gate but the motley crew were next including Egin. The area that was now open was approximately a 10m x 10m square. With the rows of angels it was almost full. The hunters stayed outside the square. Dean walked to the front feeling like he was in a stage show. Sam followed behind.
Michael touched Dean on the arm again. "Now's the time to say goodbye to Samuel."
"But he's coming in." Dean frowned.
"Not this time. Samuel is more human than you so he cannot enter."
"What about the demon blood?" Dean looked frantically at Sam.
"It is very faint. Not enough for this. He could very well be killed just entering the gate. It's not like entering a door, Samuel. It is painful and selective even without the Enochian."
Sam stepped forward and took Deans arm. "It's okay, I'll wait for you. I'll organize the hunters on this side." It wasn't what he wanted but he could see Dean pulling back from the job.
"That is what is required of you, Samuel. There will be demons. Many of them. We task the hunters to repel them."
"Okay. I can do that."
"Why do I have to go?" Dean asked.
"You are chosen to go in my place. You have tools to find the Enochian for me. It will call to you as it does me." Michael answered.
Dean stepped up to Sam. "I can't do this without you."
"You can."
"Well, I don't want to."
"But you have to, Dean. I will be there with you all the way." Sam placed his hand over Dean's heart and they hugged hard. Dean handed the angel blade to Sam who handed over the demon knife.
They kissed for a moment then stepped back.

Dean was upset but turned to the job at hand when Michael called him.
"You will be going in with Cain, Ramiel , Asmodeus and Dagon." Michael introduced them in turn.
"So not Egin?"
"No, sir." Egin appeared next to him. "A steward must always be in place for hell. We do have this gift however." Egin handed him a large gun carefully on the fingers of both hands.
"It's a M79 Grenade Launcher." Dean was surprised but took it just as gently.
"Not just an M79 but a weapon of hell. The grenades have hellfire in them. Should help get rid of the Enochian." Egin grinned.
"Rubbish, my blade will do that." The man with the full grey beard, long hair and long, dark greatcoat all but yelled.
"Yes, all right, Cain but we do need a backup." Egin winked at Dean. "Now off with this." Egin deftly took Dean's jacket and shirt off and handed them to Sam. He dropped two grenade belts over Dean's head and adjusted them to fit over his white t shirt. 'Damn now I look like part of the god squad' Dean thought.
"There are many weapons in Purgatory, Sir. Monsters generally make them there or some ended up there with their own weapons. They should help with the monsters so you can keep the hell fire for the Enochian. It is unknown how much there is."
"Thanks, Egin."
"Good luck, My Lord." They shook hands.

Dean turned back to Sam but suddenly Castiel was in front of him. "Dean, I have a gift for you." Cas showed Dean a tiny, glowing bottle of grace. "It's not much but it will help."
"How do I…Can I..? Is this yours?"
"Yes, it's all I can give and still fight when I am needed. You can take it when you get there. As far as we know it will power up what you already have. To get it there will be painful."
Dean frowned at Cas not sure where he was going with this. Cas frowned and bought Dean's left arm up. He drew a knife from his coat.
"Oh thank god, cut away!" Dean laughed.
Cas dragged the blade down Deans forearm. Dean was okay with the blood and pain until Cas shoved the small glass vial not so gently inside his arm then sealed it up.
"Son of a bitch!" Dean held his arm. "I'm okay." He panted.
Cas moved into Dean's space and hugged him of his own will.
"Be careful in there, Dean. We will watch over you as much as we can but, as you know, we cannot see in. We love you and thank you for doing the Lord's work."
"I love you to Cas and thanks for this." Dean lifted his uncomfortable left arm. "Look after Sam for me."
Cas nodded.

Dean finally got back to Sam and gave him another hug.
"Finally got your rocker launcher, babe."
"And permission to fire." Dean tried a smile but it fell short. "Be here for me when I get back. I WILL be back. I love you."
Sam gripped Dean where Cas had put his grace. "I love you to. Good luck."
"You to."
Dean stepped back and was swept forward to the front of the line among the four men dressed in dark clothing.

Michael stepped forward so that he blocked the gate and Dean was at his right hand. "Let us pray." And lowered his head.
There was a very low groan to his left and when he looked up Cain mouthed to Dean, 'talk about daddy issues." Dean couldn't help but smile as he lowered his head. He already felt a connection between him and this surly Knight of hell.
"My father, bless us for this battle we fight in your name. Bless and keep safe Catalan and his regiment of soldiers, Cain, Ramiel , Asmodeus and Dagon.
Let them find the way to stop the destruction of your creation, oh mighty one. Watch over the Angels and Hunters that fight in your name, Amen."
He looked at the regiment ready to go with weapons at hand.
"The cage will drop when you blow this whistle." He hung a gold whistle not unlike a dog whistle around Dean's neck. "It can only be blown by Dean."
'Awesome' thought Sam listening intently. 'They have to keep him alive for this trap to work, nice one. Michaels protecting him, of sorts.'
"But don't blow until you have an area cleared. Sooner rather than later. The cage builders will be with the cage to do the final touches and seal it when it is full."

Michael moved to the left giving Dean his first real look beyond the gate close up. There was a back vertical line with a red glowing dot in the middle. The line wasn't a simple line but a living, pulsing evil of the worst degree between the empty gate frame. He gulped and looked over his left shoulder seeing Sam for the last time. He gave Sam a wink to let him know he would be back.
"Let's light this bitch." He ground out, steeling himself for the pain to come.
Cain grinned and the regiment yelled loudly as they charged behind Dean as he entered at a run. There was a pop and they were gone.
Sam wrapped his hands behind his head and breathed out harshly, Dean was gone.
