She leaned back with her hips, the corset pushing her lace-clad breasts against the glass as she tried to right herself in her heels, her legs still spread wide to support their precarious position against the window. Reaching her left hand backwards to snake between their bodies, she gripped his length through the fabric of his pants. His hiss made her bones ache in anticipation, a breathless groan so wanton yet drowned out by the sound of the teeth of his zipper, finally freeing him against the back of her thigh.

Palms and cheek against glass, heat against dripping heat, he pushed into her with an unexpected slowness, considering all the things that lay broken around them. Tenuously inching forward until he thought he could go no deeper, he paused, his hands posed over the leather at her stomach that constricted her in a way that also gripped him tighter than ever. It was heaven. Instead of uncomfortable pressure, she felt sensually embraced. Instead of focusing on restricted breathing, she found herself enraptured by the idea of self-control to manage that restriction. It was a heady mix of lust and restraint.

Hello to all my readers and followers of Eighteen! It's been over ten years now, and I wanted to let you know that this short 4,000 word one-shot has inspired a 20,000 word novella called Chrysalide, which is being released today as part of the Ghosts and Gravity VetSports Charity Anthology. All proceeds will go to support our veterans! The scene above happens in the climax of this new story, and if you are curious about how Eighteen inspired Chrysalide, it may even be fun for you to compare the two stories. Here were some questions I had for myself as I used this one shot as a footprint:

What would cause some of Bella's hesitancies?

What could be reasons why Bella would be fearful of taking Alice's advice?

What feeds Bella's doubtful demeanor? What might've happened in her past to explain it?

In what ways do women allow their lovers' past experiences to become deciding factors in their own romantic decisions?

How do our primal passions manifest, and why?

In Eighteen, Bella allows Edward to control the situation. In Chrysalide, Amy, the heroine, takes charge by claiming her empowerment in a way that is different than Bella's actions. How can women navigate their own awakening?

Dear readers, these were just some of the topics I formed my new plot and themes around. I'm sharing this with you because the Fanfiction community is so important to me. I have been an active member in fandoms since 1998 and believe strongly in the connections we feel to stories, authors and our fanfic communities. If you are interested in supporting a charitable cause to support veterans and want to compare where I started to where I ended up a decade later, you can find the Ghosts and Gravity VetSports Anthology on Amazon or other places. My Author name is Becca Vry, and there is more info in my Bio.

I thank each and every one of you for your reviews, faves, and watches over the years. Your support has become a force that continues to fuel my creativity.

Brightest of Blessings to each of you.

A very appreciative GT
