Volume 5:
Chapter 14: The Last Jedi? I Think Not!
Kylo Ren wakes up alone in the throne room.
Hux was there, gazing at the body of Malakis.
Hux asked, "what the Hell happened?"
Kylo said, "the girl, the traitor and SkyWalker murdered Malakis. What happened?"
"They took Malakis' escape craft", Hux said.
"We know where they are all going", Kylo Ren said, "get all our forces down to that Resistance base. Let's finish this."
Hux asked incredulously, "finish this? Who do you think you're talking to? You presumed to command my army? Our Supreme Leader is dead! We have no ruler-!"
Ren turned and began choking Hux with the force.
"The Supreme leader is dead", Kylo Ren growled.
"Long live the Supreme Leader", Hux choked out.
Kylo let Hux go and said, "meet me at my shuttle."
Hux nodded shakily as he ran off.
Kylo quickly turned and pressed a button on Malakis' throne, flinging his two halves away.
In front of him, a hologram appeared.
Seemingly hanging in the air was a cloaked figure.
He spoke in a familiar creepy voice, "where is Malakis?"
Kylo said, "dead. Killed by my hand."
Silence hung for a moment.
And then the figure started to laugh.
And that's when we get a good look at him.
His fingers are all twisted and gnarled, with only nine showing.
His face was deathly pale and scarred, a good chunk of the flesh on their jaw missing, his right eye milky white, the other showing a little bit of yellow.
But this was covered by a golden helmet that was cracked in every which way.
They looked like a corpse.
It was clear who this reanimated body was….
Belos!
Belos said, "so, the girl refused to join you? As did SkyWalker's son? And the Scout…. And now, you have total power over the First Order?"
Kylo nodded.
Belos said, "you've become a much bigger cog within the machine. I am going to send you a map. There is an artifact you will need, if you wish to find me, and hear my plans. Until then, make the Resistance pay. So all of the galaxy will know of Kylo Ren!"
Ren nods as the transmission ends...
….
On the planet of Crait….
The rebels were all running into the base as fast as they could.
They could see a shuttle making its way towards them fast!
The shuttles then started to fire upon them!
Angela was crying in fear!
Prime held his daughter close as Leia yelled, "they're coming, shut the door."
A soldier yelled, "incoming!"
Jesse yelled, "go, go, move! Get that shield door down and take cover!"
The ship crashed before the doors could close.
Everyone surrounded it as the top of the shuttles opened.
Everyone was ready to shoot before Polly burst out and yelled, "HEY KIDS, WANNA SEE A DEAD BODY!?"
"Polly", Sam, Alastor and Prime shouted.
Collin and the others then popped out as well.
"Hi dads", Collin and Padme said.
Sam, Prime and Alastor ran to their kids.
As soon as they got close they hugged them.
They were so relieved!
"We're so happy you three are okay", Sam said.
Collin said, "the feeling is mutual, dad."
Padme asked, "where is Ani? Isn't he back yet?"
Sam said, "no. They must still be with Luke."
Poe asked, "is this all that is left?"
Eda said, "pretty much."
The rebels then began to set up and start up all the computers and equipment.
….
Later….
Poe said, "alright, our shields are up so they can't hit us from orbit. Use whatever power we've got left to broadcast a signal."
"And hopefully that signal reaches the New Republic", Hunter said.
Sam said, "I'm sure it will."
"Use my personal code", Leia said.
The others nodded.
Poe asked, "Rose, what do you got?"
"Rotted munitions, rusted artillery, and some half gutted skim speeders", Rose said.
"Well…. Let's just pray that big-ass door holds long enough for us to get help", Poe said.
But as Eda gazed out at the First Order AT-AT's that were slowly making their way towards them, she saw a sight that made her blood run cold.
She yelled, "shoot! They got a battering ram cannon!"
"Oh you gotta be kriffing me", Hunter said.
Poe asked, "a what?"
"A miniaturized Death Star tech. It will crack that door open like an egg", Eda said.
Jesse groaned, "sonuva!"
Rose said, "there has to be a back way out of here, right?"
Poe asked, "BB-8, what do you got?"
BB-8 beeps as C3-P0 translates.
C3-P0 said, "BB-8 has analyzed the mine's schematics. This is the only way in or out."
HK-50 said, "frustrated statement: shit."
Padme said, "come on. We have allies. People believe in my Dad's. In Leia. They'll get our message, they'll come. But we have to buy time. We gotta take out that cannon."
We then see some rebels going outside.
They all line up in a trench.
They all had weapons.
The scene was eeeily similar to the battle of Hoth.
Then some small ships emerged from the base.
We see Poe, Collin, Rose and several other soldiers piloting the mono-skis speeding towards the First Order forces.
Poe said, "alright, listen up. I don't like these rust buckets and I don't like our odds, but…. What the hell? Just keep it tight and don't get drawn in too close till they roll that cannon up front. Alright, ground forces, lay down some fire!"
...
We then see inside Kylo Ren's shuttle.
Hux asked, "thirteen incoming light craft. Should we hold until we clear them?"
Kylo growled, "no. The Resistance is in that mine. Push through."
….
TIE Fighters began blasting at the Rebels.
Poe yelled, "fighters, break off! Come on! We gotta hold them till they pull up that cannon!"
A rebels ship was then shot down!
Collin yelled, "Rose, you've got 3 right behind you!"
Rose yelled, "I can't lose 'em!"
But before anything could blast Rose, the fighters were blasted by a familiar ship!
The Millenium Falcon!
Coling yelled, "whoo! Yeah!"
….
Inside of the Falcon, Chewie roars in victory, followed by a Porg thumping his foot and mimicking the wookie.
King let out a loud squeak beside them!
The Falcon kept on firing at the Tie Fighters.
Breha and Rey had manned the gunner seats!
Rey yelled, "whoo! I like this!"
Breha yelled, "ain't that the truth!"
….
Kylo yelled, "blow that piece of junk out of the sky!"
Hux, "all fighters, concentrate fire on the Millenium Falcon!"
….
All of the fighters began chasing the Falcon.
Ani said, "Chewie, pull off from the battle."
Finn said, "we gotta draw them away from the speeders."
Lola was on Ani's shoulder as she beeped like crazy.
The Falcon started swerving through a canyon, avoiding the TIE Fighters as the Porgs inside of the Corellian ship were scared witless!
….
Poe said, "they drew 'em off! All of 'em!
Collin yelled, "oh, they hate that ship!"
….
Chewie and King continued to evade the fighters as Breha and Rey shot at them.
"Whooo", Rey said.
Breha channeled her father and yelled, "yahoo!"
….
Rose yelled, "there it is! That is a big gun."
Collim said, "okay, it's heavily armored. Our only shot is right down the throat. The cannon's opening. This is our chance."
….
Kylo yelled, "all firepower on those speeders!"
Hux said, "concentrate all fire on the speeders!"
Kylo gave him a look that said, "da kriff?!"
The AT-AT's began to fire at the speeders.
A Resistance Controller yelled, "we're taking heavy losses!"
….
Poe said, "they're picking us all off. We're not gonna make it."
"Alright, I'll make my final approach", Collin said.
Poe yelled, "no! Pull off!"
Collin asked, "what?"
Poe yelled, "the cannon is charged! It's a suicide run! All craft, pull away!"
All the speeders began to pull away.
Collin yelled, "no! I'm almost there!"
Poe shouted, "retreat! That's an order!"
Rose exclaimed, "Collin? It's too late! Don't do this!"
"No! I won't let them win", Collin shouted.
Rose yelled, "no! Collin, listen to Poe! We have to retreat!"
But before Collin can sacrifice himself, Rose uses her own vehicle to charge into his, sending them both far away.
Collin then slowly turns to look at Rose.
….
A male scout says, "the cannon is warming up now."
The male commander said, "copy that. We see it."
The scout said, "preparing to fire."
….
All of the soldiers begin running back to the base.
Poe yelled, "move! Go, go! Quick!"
A soldier yelled, "let's go, let's go!"
Collin ran to Rose, who felt a bit dazed from what she did.
Collin asked, "Rose? Rose? Why would you do that?"
Rose groaned, "I saved you, dummy."
Collin yelled, "I almost had it! I could've saved us all!"
They both saw the cannon fire, quickly beginning to melt into the base's door.
Rose sakd, "see? I didn't want you to sacrifice yourself for nothing! That's how we're gonna win. By fighting when it matters."
Rose then kissed Collin.
Collin was in shock for a moment before he kissed back.
That's when Rose passed out.
Collin quickly took off his jacket and wrapped it around a huge sheet of metal.
He got Rose on it and started making his way towards the base.
….
Kylo growled, "General Hux, advance. No quarter. No prisoners."
….
Connix said, "our distress signal's been received at multiple points."
Sam asked, "any responses?"
"Several of our allies had responded and one of them had sent a signal to the New Republic", Connix said.
Sam said, "good. Hopefully we can evacuate as soon as possible."
"There is still hope", Leia said.
Then Sam and Leia felt something in the force.
That's when everyone saw him approach Leia.
She looked up, and lost her breath at the sight.
Luke!
Luke SkyWalker was here!
"Luke", Leia said.
Sam smiled with tears in his eyes.
"Sam. Leia", Luke said.
The siblings hugged each other close.
The three Skywalker triplets had tears in their eyes.
As the hug ended, Leia said, "I know what you're gonna say…. I changed my hair."
"It's nice that way…. Leia…. Sam…. I'm sorry", Luke said.
Sam said, "it's okay…. You're here now. That's all that matters."
Leia said, "we're just glad you're here."
As they seperated, Luke said, "I came to face him, Leia. And I can't save him."
"I held out hope for so long…. But I know my son is gone", Leia said.
Luke said, "no-one's ever really gone."
"Luke is right", Sam said.
Luke then handed Leia something.
The golden dice that Han once owned.
He approached C3-P0.
C3-P0 said, "Master Luke."
Luke smiled at the droid and said, "hey Threepio."
Luke gave the droid a hug, surprising him, but the droid actually hugged back.
The two separated, and Luke made his way past everyone.
Luke then made his way outside the base.
This shocked the entire First Order, who all saw the old Jedi standing there.
….
Kylo yelled, "stop! I want every gun we have to fire on that man. Do it!"
Every single AT-AT shot their blasts at Luke, creating a cloud of dust that surrounded the Jedi.
Kylo yelled, "more! More!"
The At-AT's kept shooting at Luke.
Hux yelled, "that's enough. That's enough!"
All the AT-AT's stopped firing.
The cloud of dust slowly dissipated.
Hux asked, "do you think you got him?"
Kylo glared at Hux.
Hux said, "now, if we're ready to get moving, we can finish this."
But both men were shocked when they saw Luke still standing.
All of the lasers blasted at him were in midair.
Luke dusted his shoulder off like the attack barely fazed him.
And that's when he made his next move.
Luke thrust his hand forward, and the bolts hit almost every single AT-AT except for the one Kylo and Hux were in, sending them all to the ground, exploding!
….
Back in the base….
The rebels watched in awe and cheered for Luke.
….
Kylo Ren was fuming at the sight.
The pilot asked, "Sir?"
Kylo said, "bring me down to him. Keep the door covered and don't advance until I say."
Hux said, "Supreme Leader, don't get distracted, our goal..."
Kylo used the force to send Hux into the wall.
The pilot said, "right away, sir."
….
Collin yelled, "Med pack! I need a med pack!"
Some medics helped Collin with Rose.
Poe said, "she's hurt pretty bad. It's Kylo Ren. Your uncle's facing him alone."
"We should help him", Padme said.
"No wait. Wait", Poe said as he stopped her.
...
Kylo Ren asked, "did you come back to say you forgive me? To save my soul?"
"No", Luke said.
That's when Luke pulled out a certain weapon.
His old green lightsaber.
He ignites it.
….
Poe said, "he's doing this for a reason. He's stalling so we can all escape on the cruiser!"
"It is one man against an army. We have to help him, we have to fight", Collin said.
Poe said, "no, no. Skywalker's doing this so we can survive. So we can continue the fight. There's gotta be a way out of this mine. Hell, how did he get in here?"
"But sir, it is possible that a natural unmapped area exists. But this installation is such a maze of endless tunnels...that the odds of finding an exit are fifteen thousand four hundred and twenty eight….", C3-P0 said.
Poe said, "shh. Shush. Hush. Shush up. Shut up!"
C3-P0 said, "... to one."
Poe said, "listen."
HK-50 said, "statement: my audio sensors no longer detect the…."
Padme said, "exactly."
Eda asked, "where'd the crystal critters go?"
The Crystal Critters then ran off.
"Follow me", Poe said.
Everyone turned to Leia and Sam.
Leia asked, "what are you looking at us for? Follow him."
….
Kylo kept trying to cleave his uncle into pieces, but couldn't manage to get a hit on him!
….
We then see the Falcon in the air.
"The beacon's right below us, they have to be somewhere. Keep scanning for life forms", Rey said.
King said, "we'll find them. I know it."
The rebels keep following the Crystal Fox.
Poe said, "this way."
The group all ran down the tunnel as fast as they could.
….
Breha exclaimed, "I see them! Chewie, there!"
The Falcon landed, and as they did, they saw a New Republic Cruiser beginning to land as well!
….
Inside the cave….
The group kept following the Crystal Fox, until they came across a dead end.
Poe yelled, "no. No, no, no. No!"
The crystal creature squeezed through the rocks.
….
The fight between Luke and Kylo continues.
While the younger man has raw strength, his former master has speed!
Kylo can't land a single blow!
….
Outside the cave….
We see Rey, Ani, and Finn make their way down to where the cave was.
They saw the Crystal Fox run off.
The three then saw in front of them..a lot of rocks.
"Lifting Rocks", Rey said.
Ani glanced at the other two and asked, "easy peasy, hmm?"
Rey and Finn nod their heads.
….
Luke said, "I failed you, Ben. I'm sorry."
Kylo yelled, "I'm sure you are! The Resistance will die. The war will end with my victory. And when I kill you, I will find Rey, Ani, Finn and any other force user who doesn't bow to my master and I. I will have killed the last of the Jedi."
Luke said, "amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong. The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And the Jedi are far from over…."
….
At the exact moment they spoke to one another, Rey, Ani and Finn used their power to lift all of the rocks from the tunnel, shocking the Resistance members who saw it happen.
Sam and the others ran to the trio.
Sam, Alastor and Prime hugged their son close as Leia embraced Breha and King jumped into Eda's arms.
Poe and Padme hugged Finn.
Terrance ran over to Ani.
Chewie hugged Leia as Sam and all of his siblings hugged.
After the small reunion, Sam yelled, "everyone, begin boarding the cruiser! Chewie, Eda, you guys get the Falcon in there!"
"Roger that Sam", Eda said.
Everyone began piling onto either the Falcon or the cruiser.
….
Kylo growled, "I'll destroy them, and you, and all of it."
Luke said, "no. Strike me down in anger and I'll always be with you. Just like your father."
Kylo roared in utter rage as he swung at Luke.
But as he did, the Jedi didn't even flinch.
Kylo looked at him in anger, until he saw something that angered him, "no."
Luke stood there, glowing blue, dressed in his white and brown robes.
This was a force projection!
Luke said, "see you around, kid."
Luke disappeared.
Kylo yelled, "NOOOOO!"
….
Back on the island, we see Luke standing there, watching the sunset.
Slowly, many other Jedi who had passed on surrounded him.
Luke looked at the Jedi spirits that surrounded him.
Yoda.
Obi Wan Kenobi.
His father, Anakin Skywalker.
Qui Gon Jinn.
Ki Adi Mundi.
Mace Windu.
Eeth Koth.
Ivan Piell.
Caleb Dune.
Revan.
And Bastilla Shan.
Luke then slowly smiled.
He said, "it's time I left this island…."
Luke walked to the edge of the cliff he had been standing at when his nephew and his friends had arrived.
He held out his hand and closed his eyes.
Then something started to rise out from the waters…. His old X-Wing!
It was covered in seaweed as Luke placed his X-wing back on land.
Finally, he had managed to do what he could not back when he was Yoda's student.
Luke then turned to look back at the Jedi force ghosts.
He smiled at them all, hope once again in his eyes as he hopped into his ship with the enthusiasm he once had when he first joined the fight against the Empire.
The X-Wing then took off into the sky….
….
Kylo Ren enters the base, holding his lightsaber.
At the same time, Rey enters the Falcon.
Before it closes, Rey, Ani, Finn and Kylo connect one last time….
….
We see the Skywalker family and their closest friends in the Falcon, relieved that they survived all of that.
Ani was hugged again by his fathers.
He was so happy to see them all.
"Oh our baby boy. We were so worried about you", Sam said.
Ani said, "same here. I was worried about all of you."
Alastor asked, "what's that in your hands, Ani?"
Ani sighed and looked down at the halves of his lightsaber.
"My grandfather's lightsaber got torn in half…. When Rey, Finn and I fought Kylo Ren over it", Ani said.
Sam rested his hand on Ani's shoulder and said, "it's okay. We can fix it."
Ani smiled at his father.
He said, "thanks dad."
….
Ani is then alone in a room as he stares at the broken lightsaber.
Then a hand touches his shoulder.
He turns to see who it was.
It was his grandfather's force ghost.
Ani smiled and said, "hi grandpa."
"Hi my grandson…. I can see you're feeling a little sad", Anakin said.
Ani nodded with a sad look.
Anakin then sat beside his grandson.
He said, "it's okay, Ani…. I broke my lightsaber a few times when I was your age."
Ani asked, "really grandpa?"
Anakin nodded.
Ani smiled and hugged his grandfather.
Anakin smiled as he hugged back.
Rey asked as she walked into the room, "Ani, are you in here?"
Ani went wide-eyed.
Rey went wide eyed as well as she saw Anakin's force ghost.
Anakin gave a small wave.
Rey stuttered, "are you…. Ani's grandfather…. Anakin Skywalker?"
Anakin said, "in the spirit."
Rey bowed as she said, "it's an honor to meet you."
Anakin said, "oh please, there's no need to bow."
Rey then stood back up.
Anakin said, "it's nice to meet you, Rey."
"Nice to meet you too", Rey said.
Ani smiled at the exchange.
Rey asked, "Ani, can I speak to you for a moment?"
Ani said, "uh, sure."
Rey and Ani then left the room.
Ani asked, "what do you want to talk about Rey?"
Rey blushed and looked down.
Ani asked, "Rey, are you okay?"
Rey said, "I…. Um…."
Anakin was watching the two.
He looked a little impatient.
'Just kiss her already', Anakin thought.
Ani asked, "Rey?"
Rey then cupped Ani's face and kissed him!
Ani went wide-eyed, but then began to kiss back as he wrapped his arms around Rey.
Anakin smiled at the two.
Ani felt his back against the wall as they continued to kiss.
"I'll take my leave", Anakin whispered as he vanished.
Rey and Ani continued to kiss, their tongues slowly entering each other's mouths.
The two moaned into the kiss.
Rey started grinding against Ani.
Ani clutched Rey's hips.
Rey moaned as the kiss grew more and more heated from the build up of passion over these last few days.
Lola flew into sight and she beeped at the sight of the two.
Ani and Rey went wide-eyed as they seperated for air.
The two were red as tomatoes.
Ani asked, "so that kiss…. Means…. What I hope it means?"
Rey gave a small nod and smile as she leaned in for another kiss.
Ani smiled into the kiss.
The two held one another close.
Lola then flew away to tell the others the great news….
Rey and Ani were finally a couple!
Sam and his husbands were happy at the news.
As were all of Sam's family and friends.
It looked as though things would soon turn for the better….
