"Justin? The doctor would like to see you." David said, telling JD to see the wrinkly old doctor once again.
Yep, I knew this was eventually coming.
He walked in and sat down, still unnerved by Spengler's presence.
"You made the right choice coming in here, buddy." Dr. Rick greeted.
"Yeah," he replied. "Well, I didn't have much of a choice."
"I see." the wrinkly doctor said, now looking fascinated.
They stared at each other for a minute, being very awkward. Rick's stare was like an old vulture, waiting for a chance to devour it's prey.
"So, what do you want?" he said, getting irritated.
"A new car and a shit ton of money. What do you want, Joseph?"
Ugh, he's asking ME.
"I want you to tell me why I'm here."
"Ah," the doctor said. "Well, we're here to discuss my plans for your treatment, pal. You see, I've studied MKUltra ever since I went into medical school back in the 70's. I've always been fascinated with how our own government, the same people PRINTING our money and giving it to IMMIGRANTS, could conduct such inhumane acts."
This guy is a nutjob. He acts like a nut while doing his job.
"What's with you and money?" J asked.
"Money makes the world go round. Of course, you knew that."
As soon as he said that, there was another pause of awkward silence. Being locked in a mental institution was one thing. But having a psychotic doctor prescribing meds and performing treatment was even worse.
"So, how do you plan on treating me? Drugs? Coping skills?"
"Hmm..." the doctor said, scratching his chin. "No, I plan on using a much more effective strategy than that."
He looked at him, not knowing what he meant by 'more effective'.
"Would you mind telling me?"
"I can't TELL you, not yet, at least. However, I'll be doing a huge favor for you and that extended family you got going on back home. I've heard stories about you. You used to be a playboy?"
J paused, realizing that he did have a decent reputation outside of Commotion City. He didn't want to tell him about his past life as a sex addict.
"Sure." he said, trying to drop any further discussion about his previous lifestyle.
"Sure?" the doctor said. "So, what was that like, eh? Was it fun banging hot young broads every week?"
He shook his head. "At first it was. But, last December, I settled for a more traditional lifestyle. That's when I became committed to my girlfriend, Tiffany. I still talk to my exes, as we're basically all friends. However, we don't do anything kinky anymore. Maybe cuddle, if the mood suits me."
"Interesting. I never thought a mentally disturbed young man like yourself would even consider commitment. Not only that: You're still friends with some of your exes and your girlfriend lets you CUDDLE them."
"What are you trying to say?" he asked, not feeling comfortable going this far in the conversation.
"I'm not trying to say anything. All I'm saying is that you must have a nice life if you have a lot of lady friends with you. You're a lucky little bastard."
Ugh, I don't wanna talk about my friendships with a wrinkly old fuck like him.
"Okay."
Dr. Spengler looked at him again, having another moment of awkward silence. JD was really starting to get sick of this intimidation.
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"Why do you keep staring at me with that ostrich look on your face?" he asked, not taking too kindly to the blank stares he was receiving.
"I'm just observing you."
Observing me?
"For?"
"For future preference. Whenever you receive treatment, I wanna make sure I get everything right."
He frowned, thinking he was going to be another guinea pig for some bullshit experiment.
"Anyways, how's your mother been?"
"Don't ask me about my family, you prick." he said, not wanting to touch up on his family life.
"Hey, I'm just asking you. Has she been good? Has she been feeling like shit? Has she been a quitter?"
There he goes with the 'quitter' thing again. Ugh, what do I say?
"She's fine."
"I see. So, where did you live growing up?"
"I... I lived in a house over in Kathsdale, a town outside of the main city. I lived in a big yard with a bunch of trees."
"The woods?"
The moment Dr. Spengler said the woods, that immediately triggered a flashback.
Twelve year old Justin Dark, who was a happy young boy, was seen playing outside with his mother, Terry, and his sister, Ruby. They were having a fun time, throwing a frisbee. It was November. The weather was nice, the trees were slightly browner than usual, and the pond outside of their home was freezing cold.
"Here it comes!" the mother said, throwing the large purple disc for one of her children to catch.
"I've got it!" Justin said, running his pudgy self over to retrieve it. Although he was an obese child, he still knew how to run.
He grabbed it and began to throw it towards Ruby.
"Here you go, Sis!" he shouted, throwing it to her.
They all had a good time that day, playing frisbee and having a bonfire. Justin's life used to be so different. It was all like this until high school rolled around, which is what began his mental decline.
'Go boo boo somewhere else, boy!'
'You got a crooked penis, don't you?'
'I'm a Christian, but I still hate you.'
'Fucking ass burger motherfucker! You shit burgers out your ass?'
'Fat boy!'
'No one will EVER wanna date you.'
All of these memories were something he never wanted to confront. Although high school wasn't nearly as bad as Greenseed, it's what originally spawned his mental issues.
END OF FLASHBACK
"AGH!" he shouted, now coming out of his hypnotic state.
"Mr. Justin? You were saying?"
He didn't reply. He was completely freaked out reliving his old life in such a bizarre way.
The doctor looked at him, realizing what had just happened.
"You know what? I'll let you leave now. You look like you've had enough action for one day. I'll see you again in like a week and a half for your treatment. Don't be a quitter now."
He got up, shocked that it actually happened. He always tried to keep his family life a secret, even going as far as to not let Tiffany in on their history. I just wanna look at the woods...
