Chapter 2
Kit rushed to Serena, whom she saw from across the school courtyard.
"Hey. I'm Kit."
Serena looked up. Her mouth curled into a smile. "Hey. I've been having so much trouble with this problem, it's not even funny."
Kit sat next to her and laughed. While she helped Serena, she pulled out a handheld mirror and tried to practice changing her eye color.
She concentrated on her making her boring brown eyes a vibrant blue. When she opened her eyes again, not only were her eyes blue, but her hair was waist length and black, instead of shoulder length and brown, her skin was much paler than her naturally tan Indian skin, and she was wearing to a totally black outfit.
Panicked, she packed up her backpack, covered her face with the hood on her hoodie, and ran away, shouting back to Serena, "I'm so sorry!"
Once inside, she ran as quickly as she could to the girls bathroom to look at herself in a bigger mirror. She gasped as she examined her features carefully.
Once the shock was done, Kit tried experimenting. She changed the blue eyes to green eyes and everything changed with it. With a bit more practice in the bathroom, she could manipulate one feature without changing the others. Mind you, she also missed her first two classes because of it, but she couldn't possibly know that this was more important than schoolwork, because it determined her future.
