POV Izumi Sogeki
I woke up to what has become a familiar sight to me, a hospital ceiling with the beeping of a heart monitor in the background.
"How ya feeling?" a voice I thought I would never hear again asked.
I shot up and looked to see my sister standing near the door with a crutch under her arm.
"Y-Yumi," I said, tearing up. "I-I-I th-thought you d-died. Y-your b-bow was b-broken n-next to a p-p-pool of b-blood," I cried.
"Don't worry, I'm a little banged up but fine other than that," she said, sitting on the bed next to me and hugging me. "My bow was broken so I dropped it so I could focus on fighting with my hands. I'm sorry you thought I was dead."
"I-I'm so g-glad y-you d-didn't leave m-me," I cried, hugging her as tightly as I could.
"Don't worry, no one died. There were some injuries and some serious ones but everyone is alive," she said.
"B-but what a-about T-Tokage?" I asked, confused.
"Her landing was softened by some of your classmates," she said. "She's regenerating her arms and legs but will be done by tomorrow."
"W-what happened?"
"You feel unconscious after using too much energy. All Might arrived and then the two villains came back with another Nomu. Melissa had Jirou get you to safety and used the Hulkbuster to help All Might take it down and she learned something about the second Nomu that I need to tell you," she said, her face hardening. "The body that was used as a base for the second Nomu was one that was designed to handle telekinetic and psychic quirks because it had one originally. The body that was used belongs to that of Inko Midoriya," she explained.
A thousand memories played through my mind. Me saving my mom before my diagnosis. Us at the doctor's office as my diagnosis was given. Me asking her if I could be a hero and her apologizing. The final one was me looking at her as she yelled at Yumi while saying that I was useless before shooting an arrow at my chest.
"Is it dead?" I asked.
"No."
"Kill it, burn it, do whatever to it. She's not my mother, she never really was a true mother," I said.
"Izumi-"
"It's like Tony said, they aren't truly alive. They don't have brain activity."
"Alright, it's in confinement along with the other one. I was asked to let you know and if you would like to see her," Yumi said.
"Where's Melissa?" I asked.
"After fighting the second Nomu she fell unconscious and woke up after a couple of hours. I sent her home so she wasn't hovering over you," Yumi said.
"How long was I out?"
"Almost fourteen hours. David Shield looked at you and said that you used the energy of the Arc reactor to push past your limits but it came at a cost."
"My body needed a small reset," I said.
"Something to that effect. It's late but don't try to get up. Melissa will be here in the morning and then you can see Tokage," she said, standing up.
"Can you stay here?" I asked.
"Sure, just let me go update Nemuri that you're up since she was worried about you. I've been checking up on her since both Tokage and Anan were hurt. She's barely left their sides, luckily she convinced them to put them in rooms next to each other," Yumi said, hobbling out.
After a couple of minutes she hobbled back in and turn the lights off before going to the side without the monitor and climbing in the bed with me.
"Night Izumi."
"Night sis," I said, closing my eyes.
I'm sorry for what you have gone through, child. I'm sorry that you didn't get what I believe to be rightfully your birthright, but I'm glad you found the family you deserve and not the one that I failed to provide for you, a female voice said in the darkness.
I looked and saw a tall muscular woman with black hair wearing a black bodysuit with a white flowing cape, yellow gloves, a red waist cape with a golden belt buckle, and tall white boots. She seemed to be surrounded by a soft white light. I looked behind her and saw a light blue light, and then a light red light, then a violet light, then a deep purple, then a dark red, and finally a deep green. All of them had the basic form of a person but I couldn't make out any details. I looked the other way and saw a small sickly thin figure with a golden flame around them, but the flame was going out. Behind them was an inferno of orange flames but it was flickering as if it could go out of control at any moment. I looked down at myself and noticed a small ember at my feet with a soft green and white glow to it. I reached out to touch it but felt my world twist and contract as if I was liquid going into a whirlpool.
I'm sorry, but you can't use it unless the original is lost. If it is, you are our last hope, the woman said.
I'm sorry my niece, a tired male voice faintly said.
Luckily it's not just on you and you have my descendent to help you, another gruffer male voice said a little louder.
Now, time to wake up sweetie, the woman said, turning and kissing me on the forehead.
I opened my eyes and felt a warmth around me. I looked to see Yumi's head leaning on mine with her arms wrapped around me. I then heard the shutter of a camera and looked at the door to see Kayama out of costume but looking worse for wear.
"Don't worry, this blackmail for Yumi for later," she whispered.
"How are you holding up?" I asked.
"I'm doing better. Setsuna's almost fully regenerated her body and Anan is doing fine and just needs to rest for a couple of more days," she said. "I should be asking you that though. What you went through was something no child your age should have to, hero course or not. Then all the other stuff you had gone through on top of that. I am honestly surprised you're holding it together so well."
"I didn't. After I saw Yumi's broken bow by a pool of blood, Tokage charging in like that after kissing me and saying she could die happy since she did and then me thinking she died. After Tony told me what that Nomu was, I was ready to kill it. I wanted to kill it. I had the power to kill it with the Hulkbuster, but after I defeated it I thought, What would killing it change? It won't bring Yumi back, it won't bring Tokage back. It might not be human or sentient, but it's alive, and after that my mind went blank. When I woke up and saw Yumi was fine and learned Tokage was alive I realized that if I had killed it it would've been without reason. I would've been no worse than a common criminal, but unlike the common criminal I'm the owner of hundreds of suits of armor like that, all of which are lethal. I have so much power, both monetary and literal, and if I wanted to I could probably take over the world and no one would be able to stop me," I explained.
"With great power there must also come great responsibility, this is what I would tell myself to remind myself that I need to use my power to help others," she said. "Why do you want to use your power for good?"
"When you can do the things that I can, but you don't... and then the bad things happen... they happen because of you," I said. "I could've stood back and let the sludge villain kill Bakugou, I could've let him burn after his gauntlet backfired, I could've let the Nomu run rampant, but I didn't. If I did then everything that would've happened would've been my fault," I said. "While everyone wouldn't've known that it was my fault I would've."
"A little dramatic, but I get where you are coming from. Now, why don't you wake up your sister so the two of you can get breakfast?" she asked, smirking.
"Alright," I said, poking Yumi in the cheek. "Get up."
"Hrmm."
"Get up, I'm hungry," I said as my stomach growled.
"No," she mumbled.
"Don't make me wet the bed," I threatened.
"Fine, I'll get up. Just give me a moment," she said, sitting up.
"Wow, someone's cranky in the morning," Kayama said.
"Shut up, I've seen you before you get coffee in the mornings and you're worse than me and have zero mind to mouth filter," Yumi said, grabbing her crutch and standing up.
"Touche, want me to go grab you one?"
"Nah, I'll go get myself one. Izumi will have a visitor over in a bit and I think it would be best to have a reason to leave," Yumi said.
"Again, just jealous that you can't get anyone yourself," I said.
"I could always ask Anan about you joining us," Kayama said.
"W-w-what?" Yumi stuttered.
I started laughing at how red Yumi's face got.
"I-ah-I'm going to go get that coffee now, Nemuri, please just don't come with me," she sighed, hobbling past her out of the room.
"I think I'm going to go check up on Setsuna and Anan now. Rest up and recover well," Kayama said, walking out of my room.
After a couple of minutes there was a knock at my door.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Izumi, h-how are you feeling?" Melissa asked, walking in slowly.
"Good, but I would feel better if you came and gave me a hug," I said, putting my arms out.
She barreled towards me and wrapped her arms around me.
"I was so scared," she said.
"Same," I admitted.
We stayed there for a bit just enjoying each other's embrace. After a couple of moments she pulled away and looked at me.
"So, um, there's somethings we kinda need to talk about," she said. "First off, while quite a few of our classmates saw the Hulkbuster and saw us use it they have signed NDAs to not make any mention of it, they think that I called it since it's known that my family owned Stark Ind. and they believe that I might've solved the codex."
"Alright, let me guess, you also want to talk about Tokage?" I asked.
"Yeah, while I'm not really mad at her kissing you since she thought she was going to go on what was honestly a death mission when I saw the two of you kissing I felt weird," she admitted. "It was like the warmth that I feel when I kiss you, and I'm scared of what this means."
"Mel, it's alright, honestly thinking back on it, when she kissed me I-I kinda felt warm too. Like you said, it felt like when I kiss you," I explained. "I-I think I know someone we might be able to talk to but I don't think we should yet. I think we need to wait and recover from what happened. Um, what about classes?"
"Of course you're worried about classes," Melissa sighed. "For the rest of the week they are canceled and are starting back up on monday."
"Alright, so we have four days to relax," I said.
"Are you going to actually relax?" she asked.
"You think Yumi or Tony will actually let me into the lab until classes start back up?" I asked.
"Touche," she said.
POV Yumi Sogeki aka Arrowette
I walked into the meeting room and stretched my shoulder since it was still sore from using a crutch. I looked around and most of the other teachers were sitting at the table with David Shield standing off to the side with Nezu with a bunch of papers. I then took note that All Might wasn't there. I took my seat next to Nemuri and looked over to see Anan out of costume and adjusting their bandages.
"Alright, so a lot of you have questions about what happened at the USJ a couple of days ago," Nezu said. "Mr. Shield here will explain, but in order to do so all of you will need to sign one of these NDAs."
The papers were distributed and after everyone signed them, albeit with some difficulty for Aizawa since he was mummified, we handed them back and Nezu and David looked over them.
"Alright, so one big question you might have is why an Iron-Man armor was there," David said.
"Ya don't say," Snipe muttered.
"The reason is that Tony Stark's successor is in class 1-A however they wished to keep their identity secret. They have access to all of his tech and armors and decided that it was best to use it to protect those at the USJ," he said. "These NDAs are so you can't reveal who it is. Izumi Sogeki is the owner of Stark Ind. and called the Hulkbuster to the USJ. Talking to her she agreed that we could tell you all since she is going to start adding Stark tech to her costume. She also said that it would be good for you to all know since you are her teachers," David explained.
"While I'm annoyed that I wasn't told at the beginning of the year I guess I understand her want for secrecy," Aizawa sighed.
"Wait, this girl has more power than most of us here and she's going unchecked? What happens when the job gets to 'er?" Snipe asked.
"She isn't unchecked, Tony Stark designed an AI that she has to go through for access to most of the stuff and she can't override him or change his systems. Tony modeled the AI after himself and it's actually connected to the school's systems, that's how we all got informed of the attack as quickly as you did even though the USJ's systems were down," Nezu explained
"Why am I not surprised," Aizawa sighed. "That's how you figured out what had happened during the media break in."
"Indeed, the AI is currently keeping her from trying to work but also has an eye on the systems. Now then, onto the issue of what All Might said during the event and his actions towards the second Nomu as well as the two students who were piloting the Hulkbuster armor," Nezu said, nodding at David who went to the door and walked out.
"I want him banned from doing anything with 1-A," Aizawa said.
"I fully agree with Aizawa, right now he's just being passive aggressive, but who knows when he'll snap? I know I'm probably talking out of bias for Izumi's safety, but I don't think she could survive an actual fight with him if it came down to it, even with all of her gadgets and gear and having me help her," I said.
"You don't really think he would openly attack a student?" Mic asked.
"Honestly, I'm not sure what to think about him any more. After I had to talk Izumi off the edge and finding out it was because of him I already started rethinking everything I knew about him. Then when he showed up and revealed his injury I couldn't help but think he was being over dramatic with what he told her. Then there is him talking to Melissa and having determined that Izumi has a secret corruption quirk and is a villain trying to take down society. After the accident of him purposely moving slowly to stop Bakugou when he thought it would injure her I decided that he wasn't fit to be a teacher and that's why I stopped requesting his help and only agreed to have him at the USJ because of how big it was and in case something happened and he didn't even bother to show up until it was too late," I said. "But after what I heard him say to Melissa and about Izumi at the USJ I don't think he would care about what happens to her. He'll probably try something again but I'm not sure what."
"I will try to keep a closer eye on him as well as making sure that he realizes that I can and will fire him if he doesn't clean his act up," Nezu said. "Now, onto our next set of business, the Sports Festival. The HPSC is pushing for us to still hold it and increase hero presence so we can show the world that we are stronger than before."
"Are we sure this is a wise decision?" Aizawa asked.
"Yes, we are going to hold it and we are going to have all of the top ten in attendance. I already asked all of them if they would be willing to attend and the only two I haven't heard from yet are Gang Orca and Ryukyu," Nezu said.
"Wait, Mirko actually agreed to show up?" I asked.
"After a bit of persuasion and an agreement for a special match at the end against the winner of each year's tournament she said she would be more than glad to come. Also, don't worry as I convinced her that she would hold back and not use her full strength except for the third year's winner," Nezu said.
"Alright, I guess that is logical. To help show that they can at least hold their own against a stronger enemy even if they can't take them down," Aizawa said.
"I guess I can see how it would show that we aren't going to be taken down by such an attack and that we are indeed training students who are stronger," I agreed.
"Well then, that concludes all of the items I wished to bring up, is there anything else you all would like to add?" Nezu asked.
"On Monday the original plan was to have them work on close quarters combat, I would like to change it to be an obstacle course and have them work on their parkour skills since those are useful to almost every type of hero," I said.
"I believe that for the next two weeks having them focus on non combat oriented classes would be for the best," Nezu agreed.
"I know this would be eating into your nap time," I started.
"I'll be there but I won't be able to help demonstrate," Aizawa said.
"That's fine, I won't be having them do too many difficult things," I said.
"Now then, since everything seems to be settled we shall adjourn this meeting," Nezu said, jumping off the table and walking out the door.
"So, how's Tokage holding up?" I asked, walking over to Nemuri and Anan.
"She's holding as strong as we could hope," Nemuri said. "She's a little embarrassed with what she did before running out to distract that thing and is terrified of seeing Izumi and Melissa on Monday," she added, giggling.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Wait, did they not tell you?" Nemuri asked.
"Tell me what?" I asked, getting slightly concerned.
"It's nothing bad, but definitely ask them when you get home," Anan said. "I'll admit that when Setsuna told me I laughed."
"Wait, oh my god now I need to know," I said, smirking.
I walked out of the meeting room and quickly made my way home. I walked in to see Izumi, Melissa, and Void all cuddled together on the couch.
"Alright, so I was told I needed to talk to you two about something," I said, putting a serious voice on.
"U-um, what about?" Melissa asked.
"I was told by Nemuri to ask you two what happened with Tokage while the three of you were together?" I asked, smirking.
"O-oh! U-um, w-well, s-she um k-kissed me a-and c-called me c-cute," Izumi stuttered.
"Wait, and you were watching this?" I asked, smiling as both of their faces went red as tomatoes.
"W-well, y-yeah. I-I was too s-stunned to say a-anything," Melissa said.
"Alright, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything too serious. She seems to be worried that you might be upset at her for it," I said, putting all the pieces together.
"We talked about it and while we are certainly surprised that she did it we aren't really upset," Izumi said, pulling Melissa closer to her.
"But," I said, able to tell there was more to it.
"We both felt strange about it," Melissa said, confusion in her voice.
"Meaning," I pushed.
"When she kissed me I got the feeling that I get when I kiss Mel," Izumi said.
"And I got that same feeling seeing her kiss Izumi, and thinking about it, I think part of me wanted her to kiss me too," Melissa said.
"So what you are saying is that both of you are attracted to her as much as each other?" I asked.
"I-I think," Izumi said.
"Yeah," Melissa agreed.
"So, you two are probably polyamorous," I said.
"Um, what?" they asked in sync.
"Polyamory means many love, it's when people have more than one romantic partner. It's not too common of a practice but it was legalized a couple of decades ago," I said, remembering reading about it in class.
"How does it work?" Melissa asked.
"There are many types of polyamory but I'll be honest I don't know much about it. Ask Nemuri, she's polyamorous and has a better understanding of it," I said.
"Wanna know what, with what she said and how you reacted in the hospital I understand that it was an actual offer," Izumi said.
"Yeah, no offense to her but it would be weird to date not only one but two of my old teachers when I graduated only two years ago," I said.
"I mean, they're only, what, ten years older than you?" Izumi asked.
"Still, the fact that they were my teachers and now my co-workers, no thanks," I said.
AN-
Bit of a lighter chapter, after everything that happened with the USJ I thought it would be good to slow down a bit with what's happening. Also, should I move up the dorms to be after the work studies? Next chapter will be a bit of training and maybe the start of the festival but I'm not fully sure if I want to start it just yet or have a couple of chapters in between.
