Ch.3
Golden Trouble and a Strange Gang
It was so strange. Everywhere, buildings. This must be town, just at the end of the hill. She found this sight rather strange; it seemed so...weird. Blacky seemed to be feeling the same way. They looked at Alex; he seemed to have been here before. He definitely wasn't surprised. On the contrary, he seemed at home.
"This is the city?" Blacky asked. "Yup, it is were I was born, and were my sister Hilary is now. Can you help me find her?" "Of course. Right, Chris?" Esperanza replied. "Ya!"
They walked on, looking at everything. "Welcome to Station Square...yup, this is it." Esperanza read the sign. They found a train, a casino, many businesses, and some apartments. They also found "Twinkle Park", were cute couples got in free. It was a very strange place; there were many humans, and fewer animals.
"Were does Hilary like to hang out?" Esperanza asked Alex. "I don't really know. Mom seems mad at her for some reason. I'm not sure why."
Then, as if the TV shop right next to them heard them, a special news report came on. "There're people in that box!" Blacky gasped. "I heard of these!" Esperanza said. "The birds talk of them. It's a TV. They record someone doing something, with something called a camera, and their picture and their voice go on the screen." "Shut it. I wanna listen." Alex said.
"Important News Flash!" The little newsperson in the TV said. "We have spotted the Smokey's Sister's gang at the casino, open only at night, a few minutes ago. The trespassers are believed to be headed for Twinkle Park next. We need all cops and anyone who thinks they can help to report there immediately! This is June, signing off."
Later, at Twinkle Park, Esperanza asked the question that was stuck in her mind. "Alex, do you know if Hilary is one of Smokey's Sister's?" "Actually, I don't know. I never found out." They walked in, and found themselves at a grassy place with a path and a pool. A group of people and some animals were surrounding a sewer pipe. The only animals were a two-tailed fox- Esperanza instantly recognized it as a gold one, since the males were a little more yellow than gold. There was also a red echidna, a big blue cat with a frog, a pink echidna, and a blue hedgehog. They seemed to be important, or, at least everyone seemed to know them.
Esperanza walked op to the sewer, followed by Blacky and Alex. She extended her hand, and gently tapped the blue hedgehog on the shoulder; he seemed to be the leader of his group.
"Wha?" he said as he turned around. She realized that she only came to about his shoulders, so he must be in his late teens at the least. He also had the voice of about a seven-teen year old, she thought. He turned all the way around. "Hi. What do you want?" "Hello. I'm Maria, and this is Chris, and Alex. We're new in the city, well, Alex isn't, and I noticed you were getting a lot of attention from everyone, so, I thought, maybe I ought to know you." "Oh, ok." He seemed a little sad. "Sonic! You know that not everyone can know who you are." The little teen gold fox said. "I'm Tails!" He added to us. "And this is Sonic. He's the town and world hero, so he thinks everyone should know who he is. I'm his sidekick. This," he pointed to the red echidna, who was staring intently at them. "Is Knuckles. He helps, but is mainly the guardian of the Master Emerald. You know what that is, right?" She nodded, and said, "I know of all the special jewel's of our world." "Good." He continued, and pointed at the pink echidna. "This is Amy. She helps to, but mainly gets captured. She's Sonic's self-appointed girlfriend." "Hi!" She beamed at them. "And they are Big the cat and Froggy. They fish a lot, and are best friends. Truth be told, Big is a little thick headed." The big blue cat smiled, and said, "Hello." He had a babyish voice.
Esperanza noticed that, like in the old village, the girls wore clothes and the boys didn't. Why was that? Oh well, she wouldn't think of that at the moment. She said hello and then they went back to watching the well, a very boring job were everyone was talking.
Then, Blacky pulled her tails. She looked at him, and then saw him point to the path leading deeper into the park. There was a sewer top over there opening slowly, so as to not make much noise. She poked Alex, then, silently so as not to be followed by the others, the three walked toward the sewer pipe. When they got there, a smoke-gray fox of about sixteen pulled her head up. She was about to shout to her companions when Esperanza held the girl's mouth closed. "Don't. We're not gonna arrest you, they want to, though. I wanna help you." She nodded, and the three of them helped her out silently. She had a good figure, had one tail, and was wearing a pair of jeans and a pink sleeveless cotton shirt with a red heart on it. She had sapphire blue eyes, and seemed very grateful. The four of them then hoisted up a brown eyed bronze and brownish cat, about thirteen, with a very scruffy tail and the same outfit as the fox. Then, a third gang member was pulled from the blackness of the sewer. She was about fourteen, with emerald green eyes, and was a purple hedgehog with, like the others, great figure and the outfit.
"Hilary!" Alex embraced his older sister, who, like her comrades, was about as tall as that Sonic hedgehog. "Alex! What are you doing here? You've grown!" She picked him up slightly. "I'm showing Maria and Chris the town, and they helped me find you! I miss you, sis." He hugged her again. "We've got a three month old sister in the house now, she's yellow Koko." "I'm Smokey, I'm the leader, and this is Carrie. I trust you already know Hilary." The fox said, the cat smiling slightly.
Esperanza cleared her throat softly. "You three are in trouble, and you're talking about a mile away from the police?" "Oh my gosh!" the girls said. They looked at Esperanza. "You three get back to the group, and we'll sneak back into the sewer. We'll meet you at the girl's shower room at the Station Square National Hotel at five, ok?" Smokey said. Esperanza nodded, and they joined the group of police.
"Were where you?" Tails asked. "Right here. We've been moving around the crowd." Esperanza said, thinking fast. "Oh." He smiled. "I was afraid since this is your first time here, you might've gotten lost." He looked down, and spotted Esperanza's tails. "Wow!" he said, causing the other animals to turn around. "What is it Tails?" Amy asked. 'Lookit! She has...lot's of tails!" He stopped trying to count them; Esperanza was moving them too much. "Oh, these?" Esperanza spread out her tails. "I've got ten. It's not that big of a deal, is it?" "Ya! It is!" Tails said. "We thought I had the most tails, since we only have one tailed foxes here!" "Oh, really?" Esperanza was confused. "Back in the villages, foxes can have from one to five tails, and the chief of the golden tribe has a daughter with four." "Golden Tribe?" Tails was confused now. "Yes! The Golden Fox Tribe! The rulers of the ten tribes!" "What?" "You seriously don't know?" "Nope. I don't know anything about my past." "Wow! Well, there are ten tribes of foxes. Every fox was born at one of them, even you I expect. They are the golden, the silver, the white, the yellow, the orange, the red, the green, the brown, the gray, and the black. I also said them by rank. You see, the Golden Foxes rule over all other foxes. Then, the devised ranks, starting with them, going down from the most loyal to the least loyal. I'm a black. The blacks haven't listened to the golden's in about a century. We're independent." She took a breath then continued. "We mainly live in peace, but the gold's always hated us. And then..." she stopped looking at him to see if she should go on. "Well?" he asked. "What happened?"
"Ok, the golden tribe decided when I was born, the fox to have the most tails in over about three centuries or something, Gary, chief of the golden tribe, thought we were too much trouble to keep as foxes. He started a war against us, and about half of my tribe was killed, including my dad, my six brothers, and Chris's step dad. He hadn't been born yet. The war started when I was seven days old, and lasted ten years. Then, two years later, Ragini came to our village." "Who?" Tails, Sonic, and Big said. "Ragini came?" Knuckles and Amy said at the same time. "What!" Sonic said. "How come you both know, and we don't! Well?" "That's easy." Esperanza said, sparing Amy and Knuckles the explanation. "They're echidna's, and Ragini is one of the two most powerful Echidonian gods." "Ya," Amy said. "But Ragini only comes once every thousand years!" "Yes, I know." Esperanza sighed. "But she came. She comes at that time to feed on one of the fox's tribes. She comes when it's time to lay her eggs, because the fox blood is suppose to be very good for them." "What happened?' Tails asked, looking horrified. "Well, she attacked us, and me and Chris are the only survivors." "You mean...your tribe...is now...gone?" "Yes." She looked sadly at the ground. "The only chance for our tribe is Chris and me. We're the only way to save the tribe." "You mean...?" "Yup." "That is strange, and sad."
Then, without warning, "Can you tell, by looking at me, what tribe I was born in? What tribe was I to belong to?" Tails asked her. "Well," She started, but was cut off. "I think he's an orange." Said Knuckles. "I think he might be a gold." Amy but in. "No, gold's sound selfish, I think he's a yellow." Sonic said. "I think he's a red." Everyone stared at Big for a second. "Ok, but that's not right Big, sorry." Esperanza was getting exasperated. "Will you all listen to me? I know what he is; he's a-" "There's a black fox here!" Someone yelled.
They all turned to the right. Esperanza recognized her. It couldn't be, could it? "Are you Jessica?" She asked. "Yup." A golden colored fox walked up to them. She was only a month older than Esperanza, and had a great figure. She had blue pools of eyes, almost hypnotizing. All the gold's had eyes like that. It helped them control. Tails had them, too. She was about two inches taller than Esperanza. "And, who are you, blacks?" "Oh, I'm Maria. And this is Chris." Then, she realized that gold's have records of all black's with them at all times.
"To bad I couldn't fit my files in my bag..." She sighed. "Oh well..." Then, she looked suspicious. "I thought all the black foxes were killed by Ragini." "We were spared. All the others are dead." "Oh, ok then." "As I was saying, Tails, you're a gold." They all gasped. "Another gold?" Jessica looked at him. "Yes! Are you Miles Prower?" "Um, yes." His hatred of the name was evident. "You've been missing for years! The tribe lost you at the Golden Spring Falls. We thought you were dead!" "Well, I'm not. But I don't remember anything but my name and what Maria told me." "You're coming with me! You've got a lot to learn." "Why are you here?" Esperanza asked. "Oh, ya. The Golden Tribe is in grave danger." She got a scared look. "I was sent here to get away from the chaos, and seek help." "What happened?" Esperanza asked. "It seems Ragini didn't get enough blood from you're old tribe two years ago. She, in fear of death before the eggs were laid, attacked us. We and the other eight tribes attacked. We're still in the war." She looked at them. "Will you help?" "How?" Esperanza asked. "What do you need a black fox for?" "I need help finding the fox called Esperanza," Esperanza froze. "I saw her, when Ragini attacked. She survived. She has special powers. And, I heard my father say he's going to kill her for saving the remainders! In other words, he's killing her because she saved you!"
