Chapter 3:
"See?" Bakugou said as he hung up the phone. "That wasn't so damn hard, nerd!"
He handed Deku back his cell phone as they two each wore outfits that Chloe had picked out for them to try on. While they had been in the shops, a few other friends of Marinette's had joined them. Kagami and Nino had been cool to Bakugou but something about Luka gave him a tight knot in his chest. He and Deku had known that Mari had dated the blue haired boy in the past but their relationship hadn't lasted very long. And the fact that it had been Mari that broke it off had made it so Bakugou hadn't exactly believed Luka when he said he had been over her.
"What I think may have been difficult was you to not rip this jacket!" Chloe snapped, walking over and looking over the blazer that she had made him try on. "It's way too tight on you! I've never said this before but you're too muscular."
"The blazer just couldn't handle my awesomeness." the blonde boy grinned, enjoying seeing the girl so frustrated.
"Take it off now before you rip it! Try on this jacket instead!" she snatched the blazer from him and shoved a faux leather jacket into his hands. "It's a bit more loose and the fabric isn't nearly as expensive."
"Sorry about Chloe, dude." Nino grinned at the two hero boys as said girl walked away, griping about the small rip that Bakugou had left in the blazer. "She's one of the only people who can get as passionate about fashion as Mari can."
"And you should've seen how angry she got when Fang ate the scarf she had made me." Luka chimed in, grinning, not noticing the glare that Bakugou had sent him.
"You both look great." Kagami smiled at the boys, her voice loud enough for their fashionista friend to hear.
The two boys had almost been worn out from trying on so many clothes. Deku's final outfit was a loose green cardigan over a button up gray shirt with jeans and bright green sneakers that just felt more expensive than his house back in Japan. He could tell Chloe had given him a softer look in comparison to Bakugou's, who had a black leather jacket to go with his gray, v neck tshirt with black jeans and sneakers.
"Chloe sure is a genius."
"I know I am." the girl said, appearing while the same two suited men from the airport carried two armful's of bags each. "Those outfits are perfect, we should get back to the hotel and finish getting set up."
"I'm surprised this is all the shopping we've done." Nino grinned as the group headed out for the limo. "Usually, when Mari is with Chloe, they'll stay out from dusk till damn near midnight."
"I didn't know Mari was such a shopper." Deku said, surprised by this.
"Chloe is the shopper. Marinette is the designer." Kagami corrected. "I've gone shopping with them before, Marinette mostly just sketches while Chloe try's stuff on."
"I see…" Deku nodded, thoughtful.
The two boys knew everything about the past with Marinette and Chloe. They knew about how they had grown from enemies to besties within the past year. Of course, they trusted Marinette in her judgment of how much Chloe had changed. They didn't know enough about the girl to know what type of person she was and they knew that everyone deserved a second chance. These four teens that both Deku and Bakugou were watching interact and laugh together in their excitement for their surprise were the ones that had chosen to be there for their Marinette and protected her from the crap she had been going through lately. And because of that, the two boys knew their childhood friend was in good hands when they couldn't be there for her.
It helped a lot when they thought about the times they had had to calm Marinette down over the phone. The times they had to hear her sobbing without being able to physically be there for her in her trying times.
It was nice to know someone else was there for her too.
When they had gotten to the hotel, Chloe led them through the main lobby to what she called the VIP elevator. The two UA boys were in shock of the high quality of the hotel and knew they'd probably never be able to afford to stay in such a place. When they had gotten to the hotel room that they'd all be staying in for the night, Chloe began to look around, double checking everything for the surprise with Kagami, who had smacked Luka's hand when he tried to take a small piece of sushi from a plate that joined the table with foods of every kind that had been set up for them.
"I could get used to a place like this." Bakugou grinned as he looked around their luxurious hotel room and plopped down on a particularly furry loveseat. "This place is way better than the dorms back at home."
"Totally." Nino grinned as he sat on a velvet couch. "Chloe lives in style. Almost makes going on shopping trips with her worth the trouble."
He laughed as said blonde chucked a small pillow at him.
"When is Mari supposed to get here?" Midoriya asked, taking a seat on the velvet couch as well.
"She texted the group chat letting us know she left the bakery about 30 minutes ago." Luka said, waiting until Kagami was paying attention to something else before he snatched a piece of sushi and popped it in his mouth.
"Will she text us when she gets here?" Midoriya asked again. "We'll need some kind of warning, right?"
"Depends on if she shows up as Marinette or Ladybug." Nino shrugged.
"She won't show up as Ladybug this time." Kagami said, showing up behind the couch and leaning against her forearms on the back of it. "I texted her and told her not to do it since we didn't know when the chef would be stopping by with the food."
"Why would that stop her?" Bakugou asked, sitting up slightly to look at the girl.
"Because not everyone knows her secret yet. Just us, her parents, Hawkmoth, and Chat noir." She counted on her fingers. "Her secret identity is still very important to her even if her worst enemy knows it."
"We're lucky Master Fu was ok with us knowing each others identities and letting us keep our miraculous'." Luka nodded.
"Of course, Chat noir going silent probably helped him decide that so Mari wouldn't be fighting alone." Chloe said, a bitter tone in her voice. "That jerk going silent really hurt her. We're really lucky that Master Fu cares about Marinette so much."
The parisians nodded in agreement as the two UA boys glanced at each other in agreement. If Chat noir showed his face, they'd knock him down a peg for hurting their Marinette.
Suddenly a ting of Chloe's phone alerted the teens. She glanced at the screen as her eyes widened.
"It's time. She's in the lobby."
The three parisians jumped up and got into action doing their final touches on the room. Bakugou and Deku looked at each other and then at Chloe.
"What do we do?" Midoriya asked.
"Into the closet!" Chloe demanded, pushing the boys towards said closet.
"I'm not going in their with the nerd!" Bakugou tried to resist only to be surprised by the blonde girl's strength.
"Don't worry! It's a walk in closet! Plenty big enough for the two of you!" Chloe snapped, shoving the two in the spacious, very yellow, closet and slamming the door.
