Sorry for not uploading yesterday. Like I said, college math burned me out. This chapter is over 5k words and 14 pages long! It will probably take me longer to come up with even more so stay tuned!

Back in the main room, everyone saw Manic return. He put his hand up to stop them from asking any questions. He walked over to Sonia.

"Sis… Sonic wants to talk to ya. Is it alright if you could?"

Sonia was going to ask a few questions about if she went too far or if Sonic is alright, but she held her tongue and agreed.

"Y-yes…"

Manic grabbed her wheelchair and wheeled to the other room. There was so much tension about what just happened, no one could break the awkward silence. Finally, Tails spoke.

"I think everyone should head back home, I think it's already been a long day for some of us…" They didn't argue, they all left one by one. Silver left, then Blaze, Cream and Cheese, Vanilla, and finally Amy. Tails and Knuckles stayed. The former still had the two medallions in his hand, maybe he could do something about them.

"Hey Knuckles…" he whispered.

"Yeah, Tails?"

"Wanna help me with this," he gestured to the medallions, "and… leave them be for now?"

"Yeah, sure. But how could we help?" he frowned.

"Maybe we can restore their power? If we could find an emerald we could- …But by then, it might be too late…"

Tails lowered his head, trying to think of another way to fix this. An emerald could be enough to restore their energy, but they haven't been able to find one yet. Maybe he can try to make a generator? 'A Chaos Generator? Give me a break, nothing can make Chaos Energy. Actually, I'm wrong. But I'm not trying to make another Shadow…'

"Maybe not…" Knuckles interrupted.

"Huh?"

"We do have an emerald. The Master Emerald, that is."

"The Master Emerald? I mean, it could work. But what if something goes wrong?"

"You worry too much, Come on."

Knuckles opened the door and proceeded to leave with Tails close behind but stopped. He turned to look back at the general direction Sonic was taken to, giving a sad frown at the thoughts that were rushing in. 'Sonic has siblings… a whole family he never told about. Was I just a replacement before we ever actually take down Eggman so he can just abandon me with his real brother and sister? Not now, Miles. Later…' He pushed down those thoughts and closed the door behind him. Just a second before a bright flash of light appeared in the room.

Manic led Sonia to the same room he left Sonic. Both were upset to see him with his back turned and looking out the window. He was just standing there, not moving an inch. The other two hedgehogs locked eyes for just a moment before their brother spoke.

"I'm… Sorry for almost lashing out on you. Hence, the reason Manic pulled me away just in time. I think an explanation is needed…"

They gave weird looks between themselves and Sonic, confused on how professional he got in just a minute.

"A-about w-what?" Sonia stammered.

Sonic turned his head and gave a side glance with a smirk. He opened his eyes to reveal purple eyes before replying,

"Everything" He snaps his fingers and a bright flash of purple light blinded everyone in the room.

Sonia was the first to start waking up. She was laying on her side, blinking her eyes repeatedly to adjust to the light of the blank, white void, and was starting to regain her senses. She started to feel a hand caressing the side of her head, followed by soft, low humming from behind her. She gave a small moan, trying to move to see where the humming was coming from. To her surprise after adjusting her eyes, she saw her own mother holding her just giving a smile.

"Oh my Chaos, MOM!" She screamed as she leapt to grab her mother in a hug.

"There, There… It's alright." Aleena soothed.

"N-no, it's not. I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have left you back there." She cried.

"Sonia, there was nothing you could've done. We were overwhelmed, you were hurt… I had to send you away."

"But what about you? Why couldn't you come with me? We all could've been safe together."

"Oh Sonia… I wanted to so badly, but I didn't have the chance. I was… captured by… HIM… I was too weak to teleport, but I was able to transfer you and my power to Sonic before it was too late."

"You gave Sonic your pow-"

"Hello?" A voice disrupted their conversation.

"Anyone there?" It was Manic's voice.

"Manic, this way." Aleena called out.

"Mom!? Is that you? Where are you?"

"Follow my voice, Manic."

Loud and fast footsteps could be heard in the distance. The sound echoed loudly and only started to fade when a figure appeared and was getting closer. The figure's image was becoming clearer to see a green hedgehog with messy quills, slowing down and stopping in front of Aleena and Sonia.

"Mom? What happened? How-"

"Manic? Sonia? Anyone?" Sonic's voice interrupted this time.

"Sonic?" Sonia screamed.

"Sonia?! Where are you? Are you with Manic?"

"Just follow our voices, Sonic."

"Mom?!"

Not even a second later, Sonic could be heard in a spin dash and skidded to a halt in front of them all.

"What in Chaos is going on?!"

"I don't know, bro. You were the one who snapped your fingers to bring us here!" Manic interjected.

"What are you talking about? I only remember you going to grab Sonia! The next thing I know I'm here!"

"Yeah, right! Where are we, Sonic?"

"I don't know! I told you, I only remember you getting Sonia! What more do you want from me?"

"Have you gone mad with mom's power? Why did you do it?"

"Manic, I don't have a single clue of what you're talking about! Stop interrogating me!"

"Enough, Both of you!" Aleena demanded. "I did not raise my children to berate each other!"

"That's funny, 'cause you never raised me…"

Sonic yelled before his thoughts caught up to what he just said. Aleena nearly fell back in shock, her eyes wide as they began to draw tears. She looked away in shame, Sonia holding her close before giving Sonic a death glare and so did Manic. Sonic can only feel guilt once he realizes what he said was uncalled for. He shut his eyes tightly and fell onto his knees.

"I'm sorry…" he whispered. Aleena didn't acknowledge the apology and continued.

"Sonic didn't bring you here, I did. I thought it would be easier to explain here than through him."

The triplets could only give questioning glares at their mother.

"We are all in our minds, I took control and connected all our minds into one."

"Mother, Where are you? We can help you!" Sonia cried out.

"I… I cannot tell you. Y-you must find that out yourselves as I do not know. But… HE does…"

Everyone froze and realized who she meant. Sonic gave out a growl,

"Grrrr- Once I get my hands on him, I'm gonna-"

The entire void started to shake and Aleena gave out a grunt in pain.

"Gasp I can't- hold on for much longer! I must sever the link! Find him! Find him and you'll find me!"

"Mom, wait!" Manic cried, but it was too late. The white void was starting to envelope everyone with a blinding light.

"I'm sorry, my children. Find Robotnik and you will find me close by. Good luck and safe journey…"

Another bright flash blinded everyone and the next thing they knew they were back home, right when they left.

"Robotnik has her?" Sonia was on the verge of tears at this point, ready to burst out into a crying fit.

"Not for long…" Sonic gritted his teeth.

"It… I-It's just like… History is repeating itself." Manic whispered.

Sonia clutches the armrests of the wheelchair in rage before blurting out jumping out of the chair,

"That's it! I've had enough! We are getting mother back and ending this war, once and for all!"

The others were just in shock for a moment, Sonic broke the silence.

"Hmm, I could've sworn you couldn't walk this morning."

"Huh?" Sonia looks at herself, realizing she is standing with no problems. "Well, would you look at that!"

"You think Ma did that?" Manic asked.

Sonia only shrugged, she doesn't know if she healed normally or if their mother had something to do with it.

"I can't believe he would stoop this low…" Sonic's aura starts to flare a very dark blue color, almost completely black. "Once I find him, I'm gonna-" He stops himself and takes a deep breath followed by a deep sigh.

Manic looked outside into the other room and saw that everyone was gone.

"Hey, where did everyone go? Weren't we gone for only a sec, sibs?"

"That's strange… Maybe they wanted to give us some space?" Sonia concluded.

"Maybe. I guess we will have to wait till they get back." Sonic added.

Knuckles led Tails to Angel Island and was on their way to the Master Emerald Shrine. "How are we going to convince Chaos to help, Knuckles?"

"I don't know exactly, but it's worth a shot. We have to help them in any way we can."

Tails smirked at his sudden determination. Why was he so interested in helping Sonic's siblings? Of course he would help Sonic, but his siblings? I'm not saying he wouldn't help anyone out of the blue. But I think he is doing it for one of them. He acted a bit strange around one of them, Sonia was it? Oh, Oh hoh hoh hoh! I get it, he likes her! But I'm getting off track, focus on restoring power to their medallions.

They both reach the top of the shrine to see the Emerald shining brightly with power.

"We can't just ask him to give power to any object like a new emerald. He might just see this as a selfish act and might even destroy these medallions."

"I don't believe that will happen, it gave me visions of them for a reason."

"And what reason would that be?"

"That reason would be because I care about them." A voice echoed.

The Echidna and Fox look around to find no one around them. A second later, a bright green glow in the shape of a Mobian figure starts to form and it starts to reveal a teenage looking Echidna with almost orange fur with a white tank top and a tribal skirt. She wore a golden necklace and tiara shining along with the glow. She had bandages wrapped around her dreadlocks, her left arm, and her feet with white sandals. Her form becomes completely solid and the green glow dissipates enough so it just glows along the rim of her body.

"Tikal!" Knuckles exclaimed.

"Guardian." The spirit spoke.

"What did you mean you care about them?" Tails asked.

Tikal avoided the question, "Let me see the medallions." She demanded.

Tails complied and she looked them over, horrified by how they were drained.

"Are they alright?"

"Huh? Do you mean-"

"Sonia and Manic, are they alright? Judging from the look of these, I can only imagine the worst."

"Yeah, they're fine. They both recov-"

"Why are you so interested, Tikal?" Knuckles interrupted.

Tikal stared at the medallions for a few more seconds. She gave a long sigh and clutched them a bit more.

"It's… a bit of a long story."

FLASHBACK

'15 years ago, The current guardian of the Master Emerald was Athair, Knuckles' great-grandfather.'

'Athair?'

'Great-grandfather? How come you never told me?'

'He… He passed away before you met him.'

'Oh…'

'If I may continue… It was like any other day on the island. Until a strange new visitor arrived.'

It was a normal day, a sunset was just reaching its end. Athair was training Knuckles on becoming the next guardian. Knuckles was listening closely and understanding what to do. That was until he saw a tall figure appear just outside of the shrine running towards them in a red cloak.

"Athair, Look! An outsider!" Knuckles pointed.

Athair turned his head in the general direction and nodded.

"I see…"

The outsider was already almost at the top when knuckles blurted out,

"What do you say we throw them off the island?"

The outsider let out a small gasp before Athair stopped him,

"Hold on, Knuckles. She is a friend. Aren't you, your majesty." He smirked.

Knuckles gave a look of confusion, but it was cleared when the outsider lowered her hoodie on her cloak and her face along with her crown was completely recognized. Knuckles was in complete shock and dropped down on one knee and bowed in respect.

"I am so sorry. I did not know it was you, your highness."

'You almost threw Sonic's mother, the QUEEN, off the island?!'

'I was only trying to defend it! How was I supposed to know she was the queen? I was only… five?'

'Enough! Let me continue…'

Aleena chuckled slightly, "It is alright, little one. Athair, I must speak with you."

Athair nodded. "Knuckles, why don't you have a small break while we have a talk."

Knuckles nodded as well and walked down the staircase. When he was out of range, Aleena turned back to Athair.

"Athair, I desperately need your help." Aleena pleaded.

"How can I help you, Aleena?"

"The kingdom is about to be attacked-"

"I am sorry, Aleena. I cannot use the Master Emerald for this purpose."

"I understand that. I am not asking for you to help defend the city, I am asking for protection for my children."

Athair raised an eyebrow, "Your children?"

"Yes. I cannot be around them after Robotnik attacks. They would have no way to protect themselves if they are found. Isn't there anything you can do? I'll sacrifice my powers if need be."

"I do not believe that is necessary."

A new form enters the conversation, the same one Knuckles and Tails just saw moments ago.

"Tikal, I wasn't expecting you." Athair greeted.

"Sorry for that, but Chaos sent me to answer the queen's plea."

"Chaos himself?!" Aleena gasped.

"Indeed, Chaos wants to make sure that his chosen ones are safe."

"C-chosen one?"

"Your children have unique powers that you cannot explain, correct?"

"Yes…"

"They have been chosen by Chaos to be born with great power since your conception, this is a very rare occurrence. But this information must not be disclosed. Do you understand?"

"Yes, of course."

"Here, Chaos wishes for me to give you these…"

Tikal summons 3 silver medallions, each shaped into different instruments. They float in the air in front of them, one in the shape of a double-necked guitar, another in the shape of a keyboard, and the last one in the shape of a drum set. They fall into the hands of the queen, she senses their power like her own.

"Give these to your children, you will know which one belongs to."

"Will these protect my children?"

"Yes, they will. Long enough for to fulfill your prophecy."

"You know about that?"

"Let's just say, Chaos knows almost all."

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

"Safe journey, your majesty."

After Tikal's final words she faded back to the Master Emerald. Athair, who was just standing by, turned back to Aleena.

"Aleena, you have just been given a gift straight from Chaos himself. Use it wisely."

"I will. I must go, Argus is watching over my children. I can't keep them waiting. Good luck, Athair."

"Same to you, Aleena."

They both bid farewell, Aleena walked past Knuckles on the staircase of the ruins. He gave another bow which she accepted and waved to both of them at the bottom before walking into the woods. Knuckles finally reached back up at the top just to see a bright flash of purple light in the distance.

"Do you think we have seen the last of her, Athair?"

Athair shook his head. "We will see her again soon… Once her prophecy is complete."

"And what is this prophecy?"

"You will know when you meet some new friends."

"But if I need to stay on the island to protect it, how will I meet them?"

"All in good time, Knuckles. All in good time…"

END OF FLASHBACK

"So you and Chaos were the ones who created the medallions in the first place." Knuckles concluded.

"It was mostly Chaos, I only delivered the medallions to her."

"Uh… Are we just going to ignore the fact that she basically said that Sonic was made by Chaos?!" Tails screamed.

"Chaos didn't create Sonic, his father was another chosen by him. He only amplified his powers."

"His father?" Knuckles interrupted. "He never said anything of his father."

"He hasn't-?" Tikal gasped, realizing too late. "I'm sorry, I have to go."

"Wait! The medallions!" Tails exclaimed.

"They need time to be restored, come back later." Her last words before fading back into the Master Emerald.

Tails and Knuckles just stood there and stared. Both were confused by what she meant about Sonic's father. I mean, it's kinda obvious that he would've had a father. But If he kept his family a secret, maybe he is keeping that as another secret.

"Uhh… So, what now?" Tails questioned.

"Maybe you should head back home, check on Sonic and the others?"

"Sure…"

After a moment of silence Tails starts to leave but stops when Knuckles doesn't follow.

"Knuckles? You coming?"

"No. I'll stay here and guard the shrine until you get back or Tikal gives back the medallions. Go, I'll be fine."

"O-okay…" He then spun his namesake and flew towards the Tornado to fly back home. He starts the engine and goes through his checklist. Once everything is in check, he puts on his goggles and starts gaining speed and takes off.

"I hope the others are alright." He spoke to himself.

Nearly a couple of hours have passed since the link was severed. Sonic, Sonia, and Manic were still trying to get over what just happened. Sonic was having the most trouble trying to keep it together. Eggman took his mother captive, how could he be calm? And after so many years… No one really said a word, so the entire house was just quiet. That is, until a certain two tailed fox opens the door and everyone nearly flinches when he does.

Sonic spoke first, "Tails, where did you go?"

"After everyone left, me and Knuckles went to Angel Island to see if we could restore power to Sonia and Manic's medallions."

"Any luck?" Manic asks.

"Tikal said to come back later, I don't know when exactly."
"Who's Tikal?" Sonia asked this time.

"A spirit lady inside the Master Emerald." Sonic said with a casual tone, like it was totally normal to say.

"I'm sorry, what?"

He facepalmed, "Right, you never met her…"

"Wait a moment, bro. Are you saying you gave away our medallions to a total stranger?" Manic was starting to have anger built up inside him.

"She isn't a stranger-" Tails defended.

"Those medallions were given by our mother! You would just give them to anyone thinking they could help?! They would probably sell them in a heartbeat!"

"Not Tikal-" He was starting to feel overwhelmed.

"How could you, dude?"

"I-I…" Tears started to appear in his eyes, Sonic snapped at the sight of this.

"Enough! Both of you!" Sonic screamed.

They all turned to Sonic who not only had the most angriest expression they've seen, but an all too familiar aura erupts violently.

"That's enough! Now both of you stop yelling at him! He is only trying to help and I trust him with my life, especially with Tikal. She would never do such a thing. While you two are arguing, our MOTHER is captured by Eggman and we need to do something about it! We- I- GAAAAAHHHH!"

A violent shockwave erupts, pushing everyone to the ground. They were all disoriented at first, but when they came to, they looked up and saw Sonic standing there. There was something off though, his aura was different. His quills were defying gravity but he wasn't in super form. His fur was almost completely black. Lastly, his eyes were totally white, no pupils could be seen. He giggled, then turned into an evil laugh. His voice was low and almost demonic.

"Hmm hmm hmm, ha ha ha ha, AH HA HA HA HAAA!"

Everyone took a step back from that laugh, stunned.

"Oh, this feels great! Hey guys, why don't we pay a little visit to Egghead? I wanna give him a piece of my mind."

"W-what do you plan to do?" Tails was afraid to even ask that question.

"Heh heh heh, you don't want to know."

Sonia gasps when the realization hits her like a brick.

"I- I think he is going to attack Robotnik… with no mercy…"

"You bet your ass, Sonia! In fact, I think I can handle this on my own."

"What if you get hurt? Maybe we should go with you-"

"Hurt? Ha! Give me a break! With this power, Eggman will be a breeze. Once I have him, He… is so… DEAD!"

Manic gets up and tries to grab Sonic's shoulder in hopes that he can calm him down.

"Sonic-"

Unfortunately, this was met with him being grabbed by the arm and getting pinned on the ground with Sonic pulling his arm and his left foot pressing down on his back on the floor.

"AHH!"

"You don't want to do that… Don't try to stop me."

"Sonic! Calm down!" Sonia yelled.

"Calm down? Calm down!? You want me to calm down? Have you seen what he did to our home? What he did with mom? Everything?! Or did that injury cause you to lose some memory?"

Sonia took a step back, looking hurt. Meanwhile, Manic is still pinned to the ground, the hold on his arm stronger than ever.

"No, I'm done waiting."

"S-sonic, you're h-hurting me." Manic whimpered.

"Sonic! Let him go!" Tails demanded.

"Fine," He released Manic and kicked him across the floor towards Tails and Sonia. "How about you stay here and wait? I'll find him mysel-"

Sonic froze. He was completely still for a few moments which confused the group. Then, his aura went from a dark blue-ish black to dark purple and he fell on his knees, grunting in pain.

"Rgh! No! Stop!"

"What's happening?" Manic questions.

"I don't know… Sonia, help me hold him down." Tails replied

"Right!"

Sonia and Tails grab hold of Sonic's arms while being too preoccupied with his screaming.

"No! You can't! You won't stop me! RAAAAAHHH!"

Sonic stopped after that last scream. He dropped to the floor, still being held by Tails and Sonia. His aura died down and his quills and fur were returning to normal. His eyes faded from pure white to his blood red Irises. Then, they faded to purple. He spoke in a soft tired tone, similar to their mother,

"You will not do such a thing with my son… you monster…"

Then, his power was nearly drained completely as his eyes went back to his normal emerald green color. Completely disoriented and collapsed then and there.

"Sonic? Sonic?!" Sonia worried as no response was given by the blue hedgehog.

"Relax, Sonia. He's just tired, I think all his power was drained temporarily." Tails stated.

"Huu-ooohh… man, I'm tired. Isssit time for bed already?" Sonic slurred.

"Definitely…" Sonia agreed.

"Wanna stay the night? I can take Sonic to his room upstairs, You two could use the guest bedroom there."

"Are you sure? Maybe we should stay on guard or something."

"Don't worry, I have security cameras watching the area around the house. If it finds a threat, it will alert me and I have defenses in place incase that happens."

"A-alright…"

Tails carried Sonic to his room and tucked him in. After that, he went to his own room and closed the door. A lot has been happening and he couldn't handle most of it. His previous thoughts from before adding on top of that isn't helping either. He went to bed and closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Sonia and Manic took the guest bedroom. Sonia took the bed and Manic decided to just rest in a chair nearby. Sonia protested but he convinced her it was fine. Sonia grunted but gave up and got into bed. Both ever so slowly drifted to sleep as well.

Hours later, Sonia rolled on her side with a moan and checked the alarm clock next to her.

3:27 A.M.

She was so tired, yet something was keeping her awake. Why can't I get some sleep? Actually, stupid question. I can't stop thinking about- Sonia's thoughts were interrupted by Manic speaking to her from the darkness of the room.

"Sonia? You still up?"

Sonia sighed, "Yeah…"

"I just had a feeling... If you are still worried about being safe, we are fine. Tails has this place secured…"

"That's not it… I-I'm worried… about mom…"

"O-oh…"

Sonia could imagine Manic looking sad after hearing that.

"It's just.. What if Eggman did something worse than capturing her?"

"..."

Silence filled the room and Sonia tried to recover.

"Sorry-"

"No, no. It's fine. To be honest, I don't know… I have no idea what happened. You were there longer than me, you should be able to figure it out. I left like a coward..."

"It's just… I tried to fight but I fainted… Mom was in bad condition too…"

Manic tries to go for the positive side of things,

"...Well, she is still with us right?"

"Y-yeah…"

"I just hope Sonic is alright from all this. What happened earlier... Yeesh, Gives me chills…"
"He's scary when he's so… Mad…"

"Yeah, I don't remember Sonic having anything like that the last time we saw him."

"Well, A lot of things have happened since he… Left us…"

"Let's… try to get some sleep, it will be better in the morning."

"R-Right…" Sonia turned again, getting comfortable again to try and sleep. Maybe he's right, everything will be better in the morning.

Sonic's Mind

It was just like that dream from the night before… A similar dreamscape of Green Hills, bright as day and with a starry night sky.
"I'm back here? What happened? The last thing I remember stopping my sibs-"

"From screaming at your friend…"

Sonic turned around and saw the same person in a red cloak. This time, the hoodie was kept down and his mothers face exposed.

"Your very close friend." she corrected.

"Mom, what happened?"

"You lost control of your powers, you've let your emotions take over."

"I lost control?"

"Yes… And when you lost control, you- You went Dark."

Sonic felt like he got punched in the gut. There was only one time where he almost became 'that.'

"I- I went-"

"You hurt Manic, as well."

Another punch- No this felt like a stab in the heart.

"What?! No! I wouldn't, I couldn't!"

The dreamscape of Green Hills started to falter. Structures begin to crack and collapse, the ground splitting open and releasing dark energy casting shadows and darkness across the land.

"What is going on!?"

"Sonic, don't panic! Deep breaths!" Aleena called out.

That's when the memories started to unfold, revealing exactly what he did just a few moments ago.

"What… What have I done…? I almost… I almost killed them!"

"Sonic, calm down!"

The dreamscape starts to become a nightmare of darkness. It gets so worse that the darkness surrounds Sonic, almost to the point of being devoured by it.

"I let them get to me, I let all of this happen! This is all my fault! I'm a… a fool!"

"Sonic!"

Aleena quickly grabs him and holds him in a tight loving embrace. At that moment, everything stops and the darkness slowly dissipates. He accepted her embrace and his mind began to clear. The thought of his mother was the only thing on his mind, causing the entire scene to change back to Mobotropolis. It was the same one Aleena showed him the other night, the new Mobotropolis. They stayed in silence before Aleena started to actually talk to him.

"Sonic, listen to me…"

"..."

"Everything will be fine…"

"...Are they alright?"

"Yes… Sonic, you weren't in control. I know you didn't mean it. But I had to drain you of my power temporarily so you would calm down. You almost abandoned everyone and caused mayhem."

"..."

"Sonic, it's ok-"

"No, it's not." He pulls away from his mother. "I've abused your power like a spoiled hedgehog… What kind of prince am I to let this happen? For a royal child to harm his own family?" He sighed with his back turned towards Aleena, "I don't deserve to be a prince. I don't deserve these powers…"

He turned back and slowly reached for his medallion, hesitating a bit before grabbing it tightly and pulling it off his neck. Aleena gasped at the motion. He walked up to her and grabbed her hands and placed the medallion in her palms.

"Take it, you need it more than me. Use it to escape. Once we find you, we'll take you to our home. You'll be safe there."

"Sonic, I can't take this."

"No, mom. You're hurt, you need it more."

"You don't understand, I cannot use this. Not only is this just a representation of your medallion, I can't use your real one even if I want to. I'm too weak, it will kill me."

Sonic's anger spiked. His mother is too weak to handle even a fraction of power from his medallion and on the verge of death?!

"What? What did he do to you?"

"Almost the same as Sonia…"

"What?!"

"Sonic… Please, you must go. I will be fine until you arrive." She outstretched her hand with his medallion still in it.

"Mom-"

"No, Sonic. If you won't do it for me, do it for them. Please…"

Sonic hesitated before letting those words sink in. If he won't do it for his mother, do it for Sonia and Manic. It's the least he could do, he thought. He gives out a sigh and slowly reaches for her hand. He stops just inches from her hand,

"I'm sorry, mom. Once we find you, I'll make everything right. Starting with the day I left. I will never, ever, abandon you ever again."

"It's alright, I'll see you soon."

Sonic smirked and grabbed her hand. A bright flash of light blinds him and once more he is back in his room. The sun was just shining above the horizon from his window. He looks over at his alarm clock,

7:49 A.M.

"At least I didn't sleep in…" He thought.

He removes the covers and sits up out of bed. He walks over to the door and opens it slowly, trying not to wake up anyone else in the home. He walks to the bedroom door to his left which has a sign hug to it.

Tails' Room

He creaks the door open, only to see that his fox friend is nowhere to be seen. He looks around a bit longer before whispering,

"Tails?"

Silence…

He shuts the door and continues trekking along the hallway and stops at the guest bedroom. 'Maybe Tails let Sonia and Manic in there.' His hand reached for the knob and twisted it. Again, he creaks the door open to see Sonia sleeping in the bed and Manic sleeping in the chair on the other side of the room. 'I knew Sonia would call dibs on the bed. Why couldn't they just share?' He opens the door a little too much and a loud squeak from the door hinges, making him cringe. He hoped he didn't wake them up but as he was closing the door…

"Sonic?"

He stopped. He turned back to see Manic wide awake, staring at him.

"Hey, Manic."

Manic got out of his chair and quickly got to the door and shut it with both of them out in the hallway.

"Let's talk out here, let Sonia sleep."

"Okay."

"Sonic, what happened last night? You went all crazy!"

"I know, I know… I'm sorry, it was my fault. But something happened after that."

"What did?"

"I just talked with mom."

"What?!" Manic nearly jumped and screamed.

"Look, we need to come up with a plan and fast. Maybe if we-"

"Sonic?" Tails appeared from the staircase.

"Tails? What are you doing up this early-"
"Sonic, Manic, You need to see this…" He motioned for them to follow downstairs.

He led them down to a computer room with a message preview on the screen.

"I got a message on my computer earlier today and… It's from Eggman."

"Are you sure?" Sonic questioned.

"Yes, I'm-" Tails sighed. "Just read the message and… I'm sorry…"

Tails walked away, not even looking them in the eye. Sonic and Manic exchanged worried looks before heading to the computer. What horrors in this letter could make Tails act this way? They can only prepare for the worst…
