This is what happened from the time where Jack told Genevieve he was going to war to the time when she gave up all hope that she could find him alive. It is told in Genevieve's point of view. I do not own these characters.

Day 1-5

"Mama, I am going to war." The words hit her like an alligator, she could barely stay standing.

"Excuse me, mon cherie?"

"I am going to war, to fly planes."

They both knew that she heard him quite perfectly the first time. She felt as though she had to escape. She couldn't stay in that room for much longer without passing out.

"Oh?"

She quickly walked out of the room. She had to find her husband. She knew it was his fault that her Jack was going off to this stupid war. Once she found him, she was going to rip him to pieces with the ragged fingernail that she'd been meaning to file down. She finally found Mr. Whitman out on the porch in the old rocking chair.

"How dare you?" she said through gritted teeth.

"What, bebé?"

"You know damn well what. He's only going to please you."

"Bebé, if he wants to go to war, its only because he feels like it's the right thing to do, for himself and for his country."
