A/N: Yello peoples. How's it hanging? Well, I'm a little disappointed and a little happy at the same time. I've got a few loyal readers!!! *cheers as Sere meows appreciatively*
But...besides the loyal few...I seem to have no one reading...So here's the deal. I'll UPDATE after I receive five reviews. Every five reviews, there will be a new chapter up. I know it doesn't seem like it, but I'm working terribly hard on this fic, and I feel kinda like it's all for nothing.
*Sere howls sadly* ^^'
*Himiko sweat drops.* Erm, Sere?
*Sere cocks an ear*
Cats don't howl.
*SCRATCH!*
OW!!! That hurt, damn it!!!
*Throws Sere out of the room* Now that we have some peace and quiet, I'll continue with what I was saying. After this chapter, I'll wait until I have 11 reviews and then I'll UPDATE again, and so on and so on.
So...have fun.

Prince Charming: Chapter Four
------------------------
In the last chapter....
--------------------------
"Well, you see..." And, then suddenly, everything just started pouring out. Mel told the woman everything, about hearing the fairytale the previous day, to walking home, to seeing Gene and feeling breathless, to flushing at his touch, to feeling almost nauseas when he looked at her. To trying to escape these feelings by returning here.
Never in her life had Melfina talked so much at one time.
When she was finished and breathless, Retsuna smiled widely and took the younger girl's hand in her own.
"Well, dear, it's quite simple. You're in love."
(A/N: What will Melfina's reaction be? READ ON TO FIND OUT!!!)
------------------------
Mel's face paled to a stark white, large brown eyes extremely large. They were practically the only source of color in the girl's face.
"Oh, no, Retsuna, I think that you are mistaken!!! I could never – that is to say... I don't think that-"
"Dear child, it doesn't really matter what you think. It's what you FEEL."
Melfina shook her head over and over, trying to get the concept out of her mind. "That can't be possible..." she whispered, but even as the words left her lips, she began to wonder if the kindly woman could possibly be speaking the truth.
"It is very possible," she responded, clasping Mel's hand in her own. "Trust me. I know. I AM an old married woman, you realize."
Melfina once again protested, chin on her chest, but Retsuna interrupted her and lifted her head up with her fingers.
"Dear, just listen to what I have to say. When I first met my husband, I felt exactly the same way. I felt sick to my stomach. Well, not really sick, but rather more...like butterflies were fluttering around inside my chest."
Almost ironically, the butterfly flew by, Alice still in hot pursuit.
"Mommy, guess what! I almost caught it! But it's getting away still and..." she faded off, averting her attention back to the butterfly.
The woman smiled (A/N: CAN NO ONE HELP ME????), and then turned back to Mel.
"But Retsuna," Mel said, her voice low with worry, "when I...come in contact...with Gene, I don't feel like there are butterflies in my stomach; I feel truly like being sick."
The older woman frowned for a moment, but then the expression was replaced by warmth and understanding.
"The sick feeling may be being caused by nervousness. Do you feel nervous around him?"
Mel considered this for a moment, considering. "I don't think so. But then again, I can't really tell. I'm too busy trying to get...away from him."
Retsuna nodded sympathetically. "Yes, I see. It must be nervousness."
She sighed and opened her mouth to say something else, but before she could, Melfina caught a glimpse of the sun, drifting below the horizon.
"Oh dear," she said, rising quickly to her feet. "Everyone's going to be worried about me if I don't get back soon!"
She turned to Retsuna, bowing a little. "Thank you very much for your advice, ma'am, I really appreciate it."
After a moment's thinking, she asked, "Would it be alright if I cam back and talked to you again sometime, please?"
--------------------
Melfina felt immensely better.
--------------------
' "Of course you may, Melfina," Retsuna replied. "I very much enjoyed out little talk today, and I know that Alice likes you. I would love it if you came and sat with me here again some time." '
--------------------
Melfina entered the building of Starwind & Hawking, Co. a little nervously.
"H-Hello?" she called out, her voice shaky. "I'm home."
"Hiya there, Mel!" cried out Aisha, from somewhere far away. "I'll be right down to getcha!!!"
A few seconds later, Aisha was dragging Melfina upstairs, eagerly telling her that there was something she just HAD to see.
Mel allowed Aisha to lead her into the upstairs living room (A/N: IS there an upstairs living room? Oh well, I'm the author and I say there is. ^.^). Gene, Jim, and Suzuka were all sitting on the various couches around the room, staring intently out at the now-darkened sky. (A/N: Let's pretend that there's a really big window like the one in the anime up in the loft of Starwind & Hawking, Co. OK?)
Melfina gasped.
It was a meteor shower. The entire sky was filled with small luminous lights, some twirling quickly and some drifting slowly as they fell to the Earth. The darkness of the sky contrasted in otherworldly consistency with the bright pinpricks falling from the heavens.
Aisha released Melfina's arm and went to join Jim on a loveseat, ignoring his cries to move out of the way, he couldn't see.
Mel hardly noticed – she was too caught up in the exquisiteness of this brilliant spectacle. She had never seen a falling star before, much less a meteor shower, and it all seemed rather ethereal to her.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Melfina almost cried out in surprise as an arm lightly swept past her own.
She looked up into a pair of deep blue eyes.
There was a short silence, but Gene soon interrupted it.
"Where were you all day? We were starting to get worried aboutcha."
The words momentarily stuck in Mel's throat, but she managed to croak out, "I went to the park to think."
"Think about what?"
Melfina then realized that she had cornered herself into a trap.
----------------
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. But, hey, I couldn't think of a better place to end the chapter. I'm still trying to come up with a title for this chapter, even as I finish typing this up. I've got a few interesting facts for ya'll, though. Hopefully once I'm finished telling you I'll have come up with a chapter title.
First of all: The weird thing about this fic is that, at first, I was planning on calling it "Black Rose". This was for reasons unknown to me at the time, but it kinda evolved into what it is now, "Prince Charming", as soon as I finished Chapter One and was ready to UPLOAD it.
Second of all: On my computer, all of the files containing these chapters are still called BlackRose1, BlackRose2, and so on. I don't know why I haven't renamed them yet. Maybe I never will.
Okay. I still don't have a chapter title, so I guess I'll just let Sere go through the usual preceding with you while I think. Bye.
Sere: Okey-dokey, loyal fans, here's the deal. You click that purty little purplish blue button and all your dreams will come true!!!
*Himiko scowls at her from across the room.*
Sere: No really, it's true! Well, at least...If your dream is for Himiko to update, that is.
*The readers start looking like they wouldn't mind doing the time that is issued to homicidal nutcases.*
Sere: Well, ah...now that that's over with.....BYE!
*Disappears as an angry mob starts chasing her, yelling things like, "I WANT MY DREAMS TO COME TRUE!!!" and "YOU LIED TO ME, YOU BAKA NEKO!!!"*
*Himiko sweat drops.*
Aaaaanyways....I still haven't come up with a chapter title, so I'll just make one up real quick. Bye all. Remember, when I have 11 reviews (right now there are 6) then I'll UPLOAD Chapter 5.
Much love. Ja ne.
