Cor walked as calm as he can as not to raise suspicion.
He knows Ignis has told him about Titus but it's still hard to believe. How can that be true? They've been together for so long, they have fought so many battles. They are truly brothers in arms. To think that meant nothing to him.
He won't let his feelings blind him. He doesn't want to believe it but he won't ignore the signs. Astrum and Regis' lives are on the line. He can't put them at risk. If there is even a hint about it the marshal will not hesitate. He can't.
He also has to be careful as to not tip Titus off, that his cover is blown, if he's caught in a corner he might do something desperate to get out. That's why he must be careful. He can't let Titus know they are on to him. He wonder if he should tell the others: Regis and Clarus. Though, if they know they all might act suspicious.
He walks through the halls, calm but large strides as he makes his way to the dinning room where he knows the king is, along with Astrum who he has been taking care of. He had asked the king about it, why not let a maid take care of him but he said he didn't want to face a mother's wrath. The very young prince is always in his grandfather's arms unless the man has a meeting to attend to. Cor is sure people are getting suspicious, bizarre rumors must have already spread. It's around time for the young prince to enjoy his meal. Almost time for him to eat mashed and pureed foods.
He walks in looking around the room sporadically, when he sees the room is empty but the king, his shield and the young prince. He closes the door behind him silently, he walks over to the man calmly, should he summon his katana? No that might cause suspicion. Who knows who else is with Titus? And he still doesn't know if it's true. One step at a time.
"Cor, what brings you here?" Regis asks playing with Astrum. The young prince giggling.
"Just curious, where was Titus sent again?" Cor asks.
"In Borsegn." They turn to see Titus standing with a couple kingsglaive behind him. Odd. He's usually seen by himself when he's here. It also doesn't feel like he came to report in, the air is thick with tension. "Why do you ask?" his eyes go from Cor to the king, eyes narrowing at the raven haired baby.
"I was going to ask to send you to Niflheim, see if you can help in the search." Cor answers stepping in front of the royals. One side of his body face towards Titus. If he needs to summon his katana he's halfway ready.
"Who's missing?" Titus asks, voice calm but his face wasn't, his eyebrows angled down in a slight frown.
"The prince's friend, Prompto. I just got a call from Ignis. They are talking with Empress Solara trying to find her. MTs kidnapped her." Cor answers, eyes trained on Titus and his men, seeing if any of their expressions give them away. So far nothing. But the two behind the marshal notice the tense atmosphere.
"Prompto Argentum." He whispers. "The weapons expert? She's friends with the prince?" he wonders.
"Best friends." Cor says.
"I'd say more than that Cor." Regis grins, slightly tense. Not understanding the reason behind the hostility. Trying to lighten the mood between the two.
"How long will you be staying?" Cor asks, blatantly ignoring the king.
"For a long while. I have something important to do." Titus says tilting his head. "Who is the child?" he wonders, more curious about the king himself holding a seemingly random child in his arms. Regis grins turning Astrum around to face the man. Regis opens his mouth ready to answer but doesn't get a chance to when Cor block him.
"A very close friend." he answers. "Instead of helping with a search of Prompto you might be better off helping with a different search. I was just told they may have found General Glauca, and he's here in Insomnia." Cor says. Titus had a poker face on. Which isn't what Cor wanted to see. He should be shocked, just like the men behind him, but they seem more shocked about the fact they know the general is here than the news. They keep stealing glances at each other then Titus. "You don't seem shocked." Cor says, finally summon his katana. "General Glauca." Cor says getting in his ready stance, eyes narrowed. Titus growls.
No need to hide anymore. It seems Cor found out. How though is a mystery.
"How'd you know?" Titus wonders, a liquid type amour coating his body.
"Prompto found out, got the information to the prince and Solara." Cor answers, the two behind him finally done being shocked. They summon their weapons. Before his face is covered they see Titus frowning, teeth clenched tight.
"The blonde bitch keeps causing problems. I should have kidnapped her like I wanted but no. I wasn't allowed to. She too important. She's not really missing is she?" Glauca wonders.
"She still is, but maybe you know where she is." Cor says. What was he talking about? He knew Prom but wanted to kidnap her why? She's important, how?
"Titus why?" Clarus asks, stepping in front of the king. He wants to know why he would do this. They were friends weren't they?
"You wouldn't understand. None of you would!" he shouts. The men behind him readying their own weapons. That hurt just a little. Someone they were close to doesn't think they would understand, he could try to explain it to them. They can try to understand.
They stood, both groups staring at each other. Neither side wanting to make the first move. The air tense and thick. The three adults still can't believe Titus has betrayed them. They can not understand why. What would he gain? Why would he betray them? Never once has the thought crossed their mind. Never even thought someone would want to betray them.
That begs another question: why now? He's been a Kingsglaive for years, why show himself now? Cor didn't really give him choice but the way Titus spoke seemed as if he was going to attack right now anyway.
They all stood. Muscles tense. Eyes watching each other closely.
Then... BAM!
