Disclaimer: Seriously, folks, it ain't mine. The storyline is, along with the bitchy and selfish little miss Retsuna and her daughter Alice...oh, well and Mihiro too...well, gosh. I think you figure it all out better by yourself. -_-

Author's Notes: AH! People are reading again! And I have more review responses than last time! *squeals* WAHOO! This chapter is pretty cool – or at least I think it'll be cool, seeing as I haven't actually written it yet...but, erm, yeah. Have fun! (PS – There's a few...erm...well, I wouldn't call it gory, but some of you may think it violently distasteful. So, be warned. Violence and blood are mentioned three of four times.) Also, this one is incredibly short, but that's only because the end of this chapter makes for a GREAT cliffhanger. *smirks*

Oh, and I finally got a site for this fanfiction!!! It's got a lot of stuff there, so please visit!

It's also accessible through my user-profile. ANYWAY, ENJOY THE STORY!!!

Review Responses:

The Ronin: Yeah, I can't help but feel bad for Retsuna, no matter how stunned I am by her betrayal. (Even I didn't see it coming...) I really can't wait until I DO go see The Punisher! (My best friend and I are going next weekend!) I can't resist a movie about a villain! No good guys, no bad guys! It's like real life! *laughs* Anyway, thank you for the review!

Dishrag1313: *grabs the plate away as soon as Gene gets close and cackles maniacally* Ya know, I really should stick around to help you torture Gene more often! It's ever so much fun! Anyway, thanks - *snatches plate away again* - for the review! Love ya!

Engel_der_Nacht: Hiya! Hey, I've been wondering for quite some time now – what does your name mean? *hopes it isn't something that's related to Outlaw Star so she doesn't look bad* Can you tell me?

Willow*Hidden Angel: HI! Is this your first time reviewing? (If it isn't, then gomen and forgive me, I can't remember my own mother's name...*JK*) Please don't release your wrath upon me!!!! *bows down* LOL – thanks for the review!

StoryWeaver1: Yeah, a lot of people are seriously hating on Retsuna right now. (I'm one of them...) I mean, it was selfish and all, but it WAS her husband. Anyway, thanks a lot for reviewing!

Rai Kasshu: HI! Now I KNOW this is YOUR first time reviewing! (I hope...) Sorry about the whole two weeks thing. Turned out not to be true, huh? *laughs nervously* Glad you like the story, though!

Leyline: Hey, Leyline. Yeah, I know. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE is complaining about Retsuna...that really was a crummy thing to do. Thanks for reading!

(In the last chapter...)

-----------------

Retsuna was about to open her mouth to speak when suddenly there was a light knock on the door.

Mihiro rushed to get it and swung open the door with a bright smile on his face, blocking whoever the visitor was with his tall frame.

"Hello, may I hel-"

Before he could finish his sentence, however, he stumbled backwards quite a bit. As he turned back around to face Suzuka and Retsuna, they could both see the reason for his unusual faltering greeting.

A knife protruded from his stomach, and crimson was beginning to gather around and seep through his gray shirt.

A group of men rushed through the door, all holding either knives or guns and giving the three women nasty looks.

"Tao pirates," she said, grabbing her sword off the couch, where it had been resting beside Melfina.

"Good job, lady," he told her and Retsuna looked guiltily down and away.

"What do they mean, Retsuna?"

"I'm sorry, dear," she answered, looking a little sad. "They had my husband and they said that the only way he would be returned was if I turned you in." Her face, usually so kind, hardened with an emotion undeterminable by both Suzuka and Mel. "I'm sorry, Melfina, but my little girl needs a father."

(WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT? READ ON TO FIND OUT!)

Prince Charming: Chapter 12

----------------------

Suzuka clutched her blade, her usually calm face swelling with anger.

"So you turned in a defenseless and dy-"

Suzuka had to stop herself. She didn't want Melfina to become overly worried, and she knew she would if she completed her sentence.

"...Young girl?" she finished off quickly.

Retsuna's eyes filled with tears.

"You're young as well, child!" she spat, wrapping her arms around herself. "You don't understand yet what I'm speaking of! You don't know what it's like to have to worry about the one you love!"

Suzuka smiled bitterly.

"I don't, perhaps," she answered, and then glanced over to Mel's shaking form. "But she does. All the time. Every time Gene gets into the slightest bit of trouble, (which you know tends to happen a lot, once you've been around these people for a while), her heart fills with pain and anxiety. She knows. Perhaps it is you that does not understand."

Retsuna didn't even look like she had heard the assassin's words. However, she did not respond.

"Cut the crap. Just hand over the bio-android girl," said one of the pirates, stepping forward and holding up a hand meaningfully.

There was a brief silence.

Then the hand began to glow.

"Pappara-sanfa," the man muttered, low in his throat. His hands came together and what seemed to be black ooze filled his left palm.

Suzuka took in a deep breath as he began to manipulate the ooze's shape. She raised her sword slightly upwards and then slashed forward, cleanly slicing off the man's hands, revealing two bloody stumps.

At first the man stared in shock down at his arm, but he soon started breathing heavily and fainted.

The other pirates looked on with disgust. "Weakling," they mocked, stepping over their companion's body. "Not being able to avoid a WOMAN'S attack."

They smiled maliciously at Suzuka, and charged, all at the same time.

Suzuka gave them a blank look and in an instant they were all dead.

"Tao pirates," she spat, as though the word made her sick to her stomach. "Incompetent men."

She shook her head and then turned to a terrified Retsuna, eyes cold.

"Leave," she said, voice low yet filled with bottled anger. "Or I will make you leave."

She left.

-

"Mihiro," whispered Suzuka, lifting his head up. "Are you alright?"

The man gave her a small smile.

"I...I don't think so, Suzuka," he answered. "Tell your friend that I'm sorry."

She frowned.

"Mihiro, I cannot permit you to die. I need your help."

He grinned.

"I know I owe you a favor, Suzuka, but I really don't think I'm going to pull through this one." His smile disappeared to be replaced by pain.

"You idiot."

He laughed, a difficult feat.

"Yeah, well, I love you too, you bitch..."

His eyes closed and he let out his final breath. "Damnit," cursed Suzuka softly. She felt sad, but there was no time to mourn the loss of her friend. She needed to help Melfina.

She glanced over to where the young woman was lying and sighed when she noticed that she'd fainted once again.

"Damnit," she repeated.

Two hours had passed.

Gene narrowed his eyes and reached for his jacket.

"Are you going now?" asked Jim, looking at his watch.

Gene nodded and headed towards the door.

"If anyone calls, you can reach me through the phone."

Jim nodded. He knew who "anyone" was.

Gene took a deep breath and opened the door.

And was met with a sight for sore eyes.

"Melfina!"

Hey, I told you it was short. -_- Sorry, but...okay, no real excuses. I just want to go write more of my book. *laughs nervously* Anyway, the next chapter may contain a TINY bit of mushy-gushy stuff.

If you don't like love and all that crap, then I suggest you read it anyway because otherwise you won't know what the hell is going on. *devilish laugh* Anyway, adieu.
