It was November Seventeenth, the day Oliva Brooke Shortman was born. Arnold and Rhonda were with their daughter every step of the way. Olivia caught the attention of many boys at school but was never interested in any of them. Olivia was turning ten that day. Her parents and grandparents had organized a big birthday party for her as Arnold and Rhonda felt like the happiest parents in the world.
Rhonda and her parents and in-laws were with her in the backyard of the mansion, along with their friends as they celebrated Oliva's birthday.
"My baby girl is turning ten! It feels like last month you were barely a baby…" Olivia smiled as she hugged her mom. "I love you, mom! I love you and Dad!" Olivia hugged Rhonda tightly. Rhonda smiled as she hugged her back.
While Buckley and Miles were drinking a beer and chatting away, Stella and Brooke came up to their granddaughter. "Oh, look at our granddaughter! To think, she was just a mere baby a week ago!" Stella kissed Olivia's forehead. Olivia felt loved all around. She then looked around but didn't see her father anywhere.
"Uh, mom? Where's dad?" Rhonda looked around, but her husband was nowhere to be found. "Hang on, sweetie. I'm sure he's a little late or something." She nervously laughed as she ran inside Stella and Brooke kept Olivia busy until Rhonda found Arnold.
Rhonda ran inside the mansion and found Arnold putting the finishing touches on her presents and birthday cake. "Like what I've done?" Arnold smiled. Rhonda couldn't help but adore Arnold's cuteness. She ran up to Arnold and hugged him. Arnold laughed as he hugged her back and swung her around before they shared a kiss.
Rhonda sighed lovingly. "I love you, Arnold."
"I love you too, Rhonda my princess." Arnold kissed her again. Rhonda nuzzled her nose against Arnold's nose before they shared another kiss. "Need any help with the presents?"
"Actually, could you carry the cake? I'll carry her present." Rhonda nodded happily and kissed Arnold once more before she picked up the birthday cake.
"What's taking those two so long?" Brooke asked. "Hey, Brooke. You know what's funny?"
"What's that?" Brooke turned to Stella.
"Is how your daughter named our granddaughter after you." Stella then laughed. Brooke merely rolled her eyes before she smirked at Stella. "Grandma, how come I have your first name as my middle name?" Olivia asked. Brooke was about to answer but saw Arnold and Rhonda walking out of the mansion. "That's a story for another day. Look who's come out." Olivia gasped as she jumped excitedly.
Arnold and Rhonda sang happy birthday to their daughter as they set all of the stuff down. Their friends and family gathered around. Olivia ran up to Arnold and hugged him, Arnold laughed and smiled as he hugged her back. "Happy birthday, Olivia!" Arnold kissed his daughter's cheek. Rhonda kissed Olivia's cheek as well. "Happy birthday, Princess!"
Olivia let go of her parents as she peeked over at her presents. "Can I…"
Arnold chuckled. "Of course, sweetie! They're all yours!" Arnold then smiled. Olivia smiled as she ran over to her presents. Arnold and Rhonda smiled at each other.
As Olivia grabbed one of her presents, she then noticed her cake. Which was made after her and Rhonda's favorite Princess, Snow White.
"Oh, Arnold! You shouldn't have!" Rhonda kissed Arnold's cheek. Arnold only smiled.
Around ten minutes passed by, and Olivia had opened up her presents. She got multiple princess dolls, a sweater she had been asking her mom about, and a parrot plush doll.
Throughout the day, it was filled with fun and excitement. But of course, nobody felt happier than Arnold and Rhonda, who were extremely proud parents.
It was soon nighttime, Gerald, Spinelli, and Phoebe were heading down to the lair to see if there was anything on the crime radar. Buckley and Brooke said goodbye to their granddaughter as they soon left for their home. Miles and Stella were in the mansion. The only two people left outside were Arnold and Rhonda. The two were sitting on a little bench as Arnold had an arm over her while Rhonda rested her head on his chest.
The two were enjoying the nighttime sky, filled with stars as Arnold looked over at his wife and smiled at her. Rhonda looked at Arnold and smiled as well. "What an amazing day it was, huh Arnold?" Rhonda started. "And to think, she's ten years old now, who would've thought." Arnold replied.
"Hey Rhonda, have I ever told you how much I love you?" Arnold looked at her. Rhonda only giggled. "Maybe… but I wanna hear more." She made a kissy face before actually kissing Arnold. "How many more birthdays do you think we'll get to see together?" Arnold asked.
"Well, I hope many more, considering our crime-fighting life."
"Ah, you have a point there." Arnold then looked up at the sky. "Arnold? Is it just me, or has it gotten a little chilly all of a sudden?"
"That's what I was thinking, here." Arnold took off his jacket and placed it over. Rhonda could only smile at him as she snuggled up next to him.
"Should I check on Olivia? Knowing her, she's probably awake right now."
Arnold chuckled. "Yeah, I'll come with you."
"Odd, something you rarely say in bed."
"Rhonda!" Arnold laughed. Rhonda couldn't help but laugh too. "Just don't make that dirty joke in front of our daughter." Arnold lowered his eyelids. Rhonda gave a nervous smile.
The two peeked into Olivia's room, only to see she was asleep. Arnold and Rhonda smiled. Rhonda then kissed Arnold's cheek. "Let's head down to the lair for a while and check on our teammates?" Arnold only nodded as he kissed her forehead.
Unlike the past few nights, it was a relatively crime-filled night.
Down in the lair, Arnold and Rhonda saw what was going on that night.
"Pheebs, what's going on?" Arnold asked. "Gerald's tracking down a stolen equipment van. We have no idea what it holds in it and we have no idea who they are. Spinelli is racing against a literal speed demon. The unknown speeder clocked TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY in a sixty zone. The Hybrid has more than enough speed to keep up but it still can't catch the speeder."
"The what?"
"The Hybrid. A little name I thought would fit that tank-like vehicle. It's fast and heavily armored, fast and moveable."
"Not a bad idea, huh sweetie?" Rhonda looked at Arnold. "Hey, that's actually not a bad name!"
"Gerald, any update?" Arnold soon contacted Gerald.
The mysterious equipment van raced around the streets and made unexpected turns. Despite being on the stealth cycle, it was difficult to keep up. "Can't talk right now, gotta go!" The cycle's engine roared as the comms cut.
"Well, that's interesting…" Arnold lowered his eyelids. "Impulse, pull up the onboard footage of the Hybrid."
"Right away, sir. Here it is."
The footage showed some sort of hyper-powered vehicle they've never seen before.
"Busy night?" Rhonda looked at her husband. Arnold nodded. "Looks that way… You wanna stay or head upstairs?"
"I'll stay."
Forty-Five Minutes Later
The van escaped from Gerald as it fired a smoke missile at him. The speed demon escaped as well as Spinelli came back to HQ with tons of scrapes and damage on the Hybrid.
Arnold only shook his head, not by the damage, but since the criminals got away. Arnold only patted Spinelli's back as she went to the main monitors where Phoebe was. Rhonda only hugged Arnold from behind.
"Think it's time to get some sleep, sweetheart?" Rhonda asked. "I'll meet you upstairs." Rhonda only nodded as they kissed before she left.
Arnold soon went up to the others. "Been a long day you guys, get some sleep. I'll be down here for a while." They only nodded as they felt a sense of disappointment.
Arnold sat down feeling rather frustrated. He had a feeling that those two things would play a role in something later on.
"Sir, I don't wish to bother you, but I think you'd like to take a look at this." Impulse started. Arnold looked up as Impulse showed detailed images from the onboards of the vehicles. "I can't tell much, but something doesn't look right." Impulse finished.
"That hyper-powered vehicle isn't on any car record in the city… and that van with that shipment was down at the docks. There has to be something connecting it…" Arnold tried to connect the pieces but didn't know exactly how.
Then, a pair of arms wrapped around him. "Oh, sweetheart… you're overworking yourself, let's get some sleep!" Rhonda started. She then playfully reached down to his crotch, but Arnold shook his head. "Rhonda, honey, I'm not in the mood. I'm sorry, but I just don't feel like having sex knowing there's a lot of mysterious activity going on right now."
"At least some cuddles?" Rhonda gave her puppy eyes at Arnold. Arnold merely chuckled when he looked over. "Even as a grown woman, you're as beautiful as ever." Arnold then kissed her.
"Alright hun, cuddles it is." Arnold pulled Rhonda into a hug. "I always know how to cheer you up, bun-bun." Arnold only smiled as he kissed her cheek.
About a month would pass by, and Nadine soon joined the team. At first, she was a normal person, but it nearly changed one night when an unknown team raided them and kidnapped her. The four managed to save her but noticed something off about her. Tests later revealed that she had spider powers. She had spider senses, web-shooting ability, and could even communicate with spiders if she ever wanted or needed to.
After about a few days, Arnold and the gang were out having drinks at a bar, and most of them were enjoying themselves, except for Arnold. Rhonda noticed the disappointment on his face and decided Arnold and her would have sodas.
November Seventeenth you ask... well, I figured why not? *shrug and wink*
