Summary: Sara's thoughts about Steel deciding to join the Knights of Takhissis to the song "My Immortal" by Evanescence
Note: My first fanfic on my own. The other was with HappyBunny13 and we need reviews on that story
Sara Dunstan sat down on the ground thinking of Steel. Her thoughts always seemed to drift to him lately. She hoped that his uncle, Caramon Majere, and Tanis Half-Elven could show him the darkness and evil of the Dark Queen. Sara heard a noise in the forest and quickly jumped up. Her fingers automatically went to the black lily brooch she wore pinned on her cloak. Then she saw a knight in black armor, a man with a beard, and a massive man walking towards her. "Steel?" Sara approached her 'son'.
Steel ran into the forest, not looking back at any of them. Sara noted that he clasped something in his fist as if to tear it away from his neck. "Steel!" Strong arms caught her around her waist just as she was about to run after him.
"A lot just happened. He needs time to think alone," Sara hardly heard Caramon.
I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fear
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
Because your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone
"Have I lost you, my son?" Sara bit her lip from crying and tasted blood.
These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just to real
There's just too much that time cannot erase
When you cried I'd wipe all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I've held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me
"I remember when you were little, Steel. You looked to me for answers. Sometimes I had them, others I did not. I wish I had the answer now," she said wistfully, staring at the forest.
You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
But now I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased all the sanity in me
These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just to real

Sara noticed that Flare was stamping around anxiously.
"Caramon! Three blues!" Tanis nudged the big man in the ribs. Sara got Flare calmed just as Steel came back. "Are there any places for shelter here?" he asked.
Sara's eyes lit up. "You've changed your mind, Son?"
"No, Mother," Steel said as he climbed up onto the dragon.
"Steel, no! NO!" Sara latched herself onto his leg.
Steel quickly pulled out of his mother's grasp, giving her a look that said "I have to do this." After one last look at her, Steel commanded Flare to join the other blues.
"I've lost him forever," Sara sobbed sinking on her knees to the ground.
