Venom sat comfortably on the couch and ate one bar of chocolate after another. The packaging was already gathering on the floor.

»We really have to clean this place up«, Eddie said, just this time in Venom's head.

The Klyntar looked around. It looked really bad, but he didn't feel like it.

»But without me.« He grinned and pulled away, revealing Eddie, now sitting on the couch.

»It is out of the question. We'll do that together if you please. After all, you live here too!«, he snapped at him immediately.

»If I have to…«, Venom muttered in his mind.

While they helped to restore their apartment to a new shine, they divided up their work. They cleared out the trash, vacuumed everywhere and put the furniture back in place. When they finally finished, Eddie prepared croquettes at Venom's request, which he thoughtfully put in the oven.

His cell phone rang. The special ringtone made him startle slightly.

»Anne's calling!«, Venom cried out.

That surprised him. She hadn't contacted her since last year's events, although he had tried many times to reach her.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and answered it.

»Be nice to her.« Eddie started to say something, but Anne answered.

»Hi, Eddie.«

»Heeey«, was all he said.

»I'm sorry I didn't call you back sooner. I guess...I just needed a break from the whole alien-bites-other-people-heads thing. However. Can we-can we meet?«

»Yes!« Eddie was briefly annoyed. Venom just couldn't shut up.

But he immediately felt a pinch in his stomach area, which meant that he was reading his mind again.

»Uh yes, gladly«, he replied quickly.

»Is it still possible today?« He was relieved that she wanted to meet. They hadn't called in so long that he was concerned. It was so good to hear her voice.

»Yes, fine with me. At your place?«

»Yes, exactly. Then around eight?«

»Perfect. See you later.«

»Yes, bye.« With that, Anne hung up.

»Finally.«

Venom was happy and Eddie had a smile on his face too. But the joy didn't last long as his gaze wandered to the television, which was still on. It was muted, but the images were clear. Several places in the city where people were murdered were shown. There was blue light everywhere and the emergency services blocked off almost everything. Cletus could not send a clearer signal. That was pure lust for murder.

Eddie paused the image and moved closer.

»Something is not right. Look at this. He couldn't cause that much destruction... At best we could.« There was a hint of doubt in his voice.

»You think it was someone else?«

»No. Who else should that have been. But if he's capable of such destruction, Alex won't be safe from him.« Eddie didn't know why he felt responsible for her, but he did, and Venom couldn't help but notice.

»In an emergency, she can call us«, he replied.

»But then it will be too late. If he's killed so many people already, he won't stop at her.« Eddie felt uneasy. Something just wasn't right. How could Kasady escape from prison? He began racking his brains and wondering what to do next.

»Do you want to get her?«, Venom finally said.

»That would be the best option, but how do we know where she is?«

»At the Grand City Hotel. When she put your card away, she put it right next to the hotel's key card«, he countered, much to Eddie's amazement.

»Wow, V. You keep surprising me.« He grinned, shaking his head.

»Okay, I'll cancel Anne quickly and we can go.« Eddie took his cell phone, but Venom snatched it out of his hand with one of his tentacles, which he had quickly manifested from Eddie's body, and held it up.

»No way. She hasn't called in months and wanted to meet you today. I'll get her and you go to Anne's.«

»How are you going to do that?« Eddie tried to jump, but Venom had already taped him to the ground.

»You'll see«, the Klyntar replied, a resonant grin in his voice. He made Eddie go to the window and look out. Venom handed him back his phone and broke away from him. He dropped down before Eddie could do anything and crawled over to one of the passing people. He wanted to let out a scream, but by then it was too late. Venom already had him under control. He looked up at Eddie and left.

»Damn it!«, was all he could say.

He checked on Venom, but that didn't help. So he turned away from the window and headed off to Anne's, just hoping nothing went wrong. Venom needed a host to survive, after all, and he wasn't exactly the type of person you wanted to encounter at night.

Cletus was extremely pleased with himself. He finally felt free again after all the years he had been in prison.

»But we're not done yet.«

»What else are you up to?« This creature was extremely strange, it talked to him in his thoughts, but he liked it. With him he was invincible.

»We must kill the thing that made me. Only then are we invincible.«

»Agreed, but first I want you to help me track someone down and find my daughter.«

»Deal.«
