"Welcome. Welcome to the Holy Order Iscariot, Section XIII.
What is Iscariot?
That's a good question. I remember asking the same question of a Bishop in Florence almost ten years ago. And I've been asked that question at least a dozen times since then. I'd like to tell you differently, but I handed out to them the same trash I got given back then. And you're going to get the same reply today.
I suppose I could wax poetic on the subject, like; 'we are the only thing that stands between the infernal night, and all that is good and Holy upon God's Earth and his peoples' but that wouldn't really explain much. A better example would be that Iscariot is 'like being on a garbage-scow that's sinking, and all around you the water is on fire'. I stole that line from Tom Waites. After a while with Iscariot you'll start sounding like a Tom Waites song. Only in my dreams I'm never innocent.
Ah, my dreams. After my sixth operation I was taking REM-suppressants with a bottle of whiskey each night just to get to sleep; that was up until my first breakdown. A.A. was out of the question - the Father, whose church they were using, turning up for aid? It's just not on.
So what is Iscariot?
Well, the good news is I haven't started lying to you yet. But believe me, there will come a time that me or someone else will deem something is unnecessary for you to know, and people will get killed because of it. One day it will probably be you who will deem information unnecessary and get people killed.
How about an easy question? One I can answer? Like 'who am I'?
That's easy. I am Father Donalds. I am Canadian - I smoke thirty-two cigarettes a day on average, drink copiously and have worked with the best that Iscariot has to offer. I have personally met a man who was shot ten times, in the head, in front of my eyes - and got back up. He had true faith - which is more than I can say for most. I have committed all manner of crimes against God and humanity to further Our aims. I have seen things you could not possibly imagine - and I bear the scars, in flesh and in mind, to prove it.
And once you're in, you're in for life. For as long as your soul exists on this mortal world; you never leave. Even those whose faith fail them, they keep on. I've seen a man, twenty-years outside of the cloth after he found himself in love with a woman - twenty years - get a phone-call one night that something he thought he'd put down forty-years ago had got back up. He was sixty. He packed his bags, kissed his wife goodbye and left.
He was a good man. A very good man.
So my question to you is, 'do you think you can make the cut?'
Yes or no? In or out?
Yeah?
You dumb fuck.
