When she went home she sat and thought about Johnny for hours. She wondered what he was doing, how he was doing. She would find herself in a blank stare. It was clear she missed him. She found this time she wanted to make it work. She called him up and got no answer, so she called again. Why wasn't Johnny picking up the phone? He wasn't at work for another hour. Then a sickening thought came into her mind. Maybe he was with another woman. You know that could always be possible. She called back, now angrier than ever. How could he do tat to her. She didn't even know if he had done anything to her. There was no answer. She thought to herself that was what happened. She didn't know what to say. She was so angry that she couldn't talk to anyone. Then the phone rang.
Baby- (angrily) Hello.
Mom- Hello? Honey, what's the matter.
Baby- I keep calling Johnny, and he isn't picking up.
Mom- Well then try back later.
Baby- But he should be picking up. He isn't at work, and Penny
is, so he's not hanging out with her and Billy works with Penny.
So he's not hanging out with Billy.
Mom- Maybe he made a friend at work.
Baby- By friend do you mean woman?
Mom- It is possible. I mean he is a good looking kid.
Baby- Don't you think I know that? It makes me sick to think
about that. Johnny and I were on good terms when I left.
Mom- Well try calling him back, and talk to him, it's probably a
big misunderstanding.
Baby picked up the phone and dialed a number she had been trying to call all day. There was no answer. Ever since she had left Vermont he had not talked to her, and she was starting to get suspicious. Why wouldn't he talk to her? Was it coincidental that every time she called there was no answer? Was he purposely ignoring her? She tried to call again and someone picked up.
Johnny- Hello!
Baby- Johnny?
Johnny- Yeah?
Baby- Where have you been? I have been trying to call all day.
Johnny- There was no calls here; I have been here all day, watching TV.
Did she copy the number down wrong, or was he lying.
Baby- Are you sure?
Johnny-Yes.
Baby- I'm sorry, I just miss you so much. I wish you were here
with me in New York.
Johnny- Me too. But I live here.
The next few days were very hard. She slept, ate, and bathed Johnny. That's all she could think about. She decided to call him in the morning, and ask him to live with her. She awoke to a knock at the front door. She opened the door and...
