Once again another chapter is here! I spoil you all!

Last time: Sasha attempted an escape.

Now: Obi-Wan arrives in time.

Chapter 17- Obi-Wan Surrenders

It was a tight window, but after ten hours of flying they finally arrived to Maul's location with a couple hours to spare on their deadline. Obi-Wan and Anakin stood in the cockpit as the pilots flew their ship down onto the planet's surface. The planet was made up of mostly dense forest and large mountain ranges. There were a few small cities and towns on the other side of the planet. This side appeared to be solely wilderness. It almost made sense that Maul would hide in a place like this, but where was he hiding?

After a few minutes, the ship dropped low near a mountain range. When it did that, a base appeared to be built into the mountain's cliffside. It had a large hangar that had a set of doors that slowly opened upon their approach.

"Looks like they know we are here," Anakin said under his breath to Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan nodded absently. "Pilots, land us in the hangar and keep the engines on," he ordered them. The two pilots nodded. He then looked at Anakin. "You make sure once Sasha is safely aboard you get her out of here."

"Uh, did you forget the part where I have to save your skin too, old man?" Anakin gawked.

Obi-Wan smirked as he passed him. "It's called playing dumb, Anakin." He said amused as Anakin followed him into the back. "If Maul thinks I don't know you're coming back for me then he won't suspect you when you do. So I must play the part properly so he can believe it."

Anakin gave him an unamused expression. "You know you're strange, Kenobi."

Obi-Wan flashed him a smile. "Look who's talking."

"Oh ha ha," Anakin said as he rolled his eyes as they entered into the passenger compartment where the Clones were gearing up.

"Remember men, you don't mobilize until General Skywalker gives the cue, but Basha and Drum you two are with us," Obi-Wan commanded as they entered and headed for the ramp. He gestured to the two medics that were shouldering their medkits.

Basha and Drum nodded.

"Showtime, boys," Anakin said as they all felt the ship touchdown.

Obi-Wan and Anakin approached the ramp with the medics behind them. As the ramp lowered, it revealed an empty hangar. There was no other ships in there or signs of Maul.

"Uh, are we at the right secret mountain base?" Anakin questioned as he moved down the ramp once it finished lowering.

"Yes, I sense Maul," Obi-Wan said as he walked alongside Anakin. "But I still can't sense Sasha."

"Maybe we're early?" Basha suggested from behind them.

Obi-Wan and Anakin glanced at the Clone then at each other then towards the door at the other end of the hangar, waiting for Maul. As they stared at it, they noticed it had a nice sized hole carved out of it with what was most likely a lightsaber. The two Jedi shared an uneasy glance at the sight of that.

They waited for about another twenty minutes and there was still no sign of Maul or Sasha. Something was wrong.

"Where's Maul?" Anakin said, uneasy. "He should have been here with Sasha by now."

"Unless this was his plan," Obi-Wan pondered. "Lure us in with a false deal only to kill me or Sasha." He took an uneasy breath. "We need to mobilize now."

"Are you sure?" Anakin asked, surprised. "What if he kills Sasha because you did that?"

"Either way, her life is at risk," Obi-Wan said, looking at him seriously. "So let's spring the trap now while we have an upper hand."

Anakin sighed. "Alright," he said, then raised his wrist comm up to his mouth as Obi-Wan, the medics, and him started walking towards the door. "Rex, plans have changed. Get the men and follow us. Leave at least a couple behind to watch the ship."

"Yes sir," Rex responded over the comm.

A moment later, Rex, Cody, Scamp, Jesse, Fives and Gear followed after them as they approached the door that led into the rest of the base. Anakin and Obi-Wan posted up on either side of the hole in the door, the Clones following in suit on either of their sides. Anakin glanced through to see if the coast was clear. He then motioned with his hand that meant 'all clear'. Obi-Wan went through first, his saber at hand, as Anakin, then the Clones, followed.

The corridors were empty. There was no sign of life anywhere.

"We need to find the cells," Anakin said quietly.

"Gear," Cody said looking at the Clone beside him.

"On it," Gear said as he went over to the nearest data port and plugged in. He stood there, hacking in silence, for a few moments then looked up to the group once he was finished. "Down this corridor. We make two lefts then three rights. Then we're there." He said, gesturing down the hall to the right.

"Good work, Gear," Obi-Wan praised quietly as he started moving that direction.

Following the Clone's directions, Obi-Wan led the group to the cell bay. All along the way there was no sign of anyone or anything. Obi-Wan could sense that Maul was somewhere in this base, but he was keeping his exact location a secret. That made Obi-Wan ill with uneasiness as he had flashbacks to what happened to Satine flashing through his mind the further into the base they got.

No. He was not going to let that happen again. He couldn't let it happen.

Obi-Wan moved faster through the corridors until they finally reached the cell bay. He activated his lightsaber and moved cautiously through.

"Check the cells," Anakin ordered as he gestured all around them.

The Clones moved with their blasters up to check every single cell. Obi-Wan and Anakin did the same as they moved along. Each cell they checked was empty.

Scamp, who was one of the clones that moved ahead of the Jedi, froze when he opened his cell. "General!" He called in a panic.

Obi-Wan and Anakin immediately looked from the cells they were searching over to Scamp. They hurried over and stopped beside him at the entrance. Glancing in, the two Jedi gasped when they saw Sasha inside.

She was in a horrible state. There was blood dried and stained all over her. Her robes were ripped to shreds around her stomach, arms, and legs. She was barefoot with bruises forming on her ankles. There were also bruises on her wrists and a large one forming on her midsection next to a nasty cut. Speaking of which, she was covered in so many lacerations, a few looked like they had reopened somehow. Her left leg was even twisted at an awkward angle, meaning it was broken and untreated. And her head hung low with her braid having fallen out at some point, causing her brown hair to cascade in brown waves and knots around her head. She almost looked dead like this, but the slight rise and fall of her chest assured them she was still alive. She wasn't in this bad of a state when Maul had called with his 'deal'.

Obi-Wan quickly moved forward, deactivating his saber in the process, and hesitantly reached for her face. He placed a hand to her left cheek and raised her face slightly to see it better. She was so pale, almost like a ghost. "Sasha?" He asked, almost pleadingly as he tried to stir her. She moaned, but didn't wake. Good, she was still alive. He looked to the others. "Help me get her down."

Anakin and Scamp moved forward as the other Clones remained in the corridor, keeping watch. Basha and Drum remained in the entryway, waiting for their cue to come forward to help her. Obi-Wan and Scamp stood before her as Anakin came around the back. He sliced through the anti-gravity system in the floor, deactivating the ray. Sasha immediately fell forward in a heap. Obi-Wan and Scamp caught her and carefully lowered her to the floor. Obi-Wan carefully turned her over his arms and laid her down flat on the ground. Scamp immediately got to work removing the binders that were still on her wrists and ankles once she was laying flat. She was looking almost exactly like her condition from the nightmare he had of Maul killing her. His heart lurched at that realization.

"Sasha?" Obi-Wan said quietly in a desperate tone. "Sash? Please, wake up."

Sasha could hear her Master's voice as she slowly came to. It took her a moment to register it was him, but once she was sure it was him, she slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she immediately noticed was that she was no longer hanging from the anti-gravity device and appeared to be on the floor as her Master's, a clone, and Anakin's faces were looking down at her.

"Master?" Sasha asked, hoarsely as she blearily looked at him.

"Thank the Force," Obi-Wan breathed out, relieved, as he brushed her hair out of her face. "I was so worried. Are you alright?"

Sasha tried to move, but hissed in pain. Everything still hurt. A lot. "My ribs," she gasped in pain. "And my leg."

"Easy, padawan," Obi-Wan said, softly as he placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. 'Try not to move." He then looked up, past her. "Basha, Drum." He called.

She winced at the headache she still had as him calling out enough was enough for her head to throb as a reminder. A moment later, the clone she recognized as Scamp moved away and the two Clone medics knelt down on either side of her. Obi-Wan started to get up to give them room, but she grabbed his arm.

"No, please, don't go," Sasha pleaded. She sounded like a scared child. But in retrospect she was. She had been kidnapped, tortured, attacked, and targeted by a man who she witnessed killing Duchess Satine Kryze. A man she had a nightmare about killing her, and has almost successfully done so a couple of times now. But her Master was his main goal. Maul wanted Obi-Wan dead and he was going to kill her to make it happen. This whole experience washed over her in this moment as she realized just how horrifying it all was.

"I'm not going anywhere," Obi-Wan said softly as he sat back down, noticing the fear in her tone, but shifted over so Basha had room to work. He grabbed her hand and held it comfortingly in his.

Basha and Drum got to work immediately once they were by her side. Basha administered a bacta cocktail that started to ease the pain a bit. Once he was done with that, Basha then moved on to start applying bandages to some of the lacerations that were still bleeding. Sasha winced with small moans of pain as he wrapped them that Obi-Wan had to brush down her hair soothingly to help her calm down. Drum used a scanner to examine her injuries to get the full extent of them before they tried to move her to the ship.

"What's the damage?" Obi-Wan asked, looking at Drum once the scanner beeped.

"She's got three broken ribs," Drum read off the scanner. "One is so close to her lung that any other hits to her midsection would cause her to have a punctured lung. Her left leg is broken at the femur. And she's got a nasty head concussion. We will need to get her back to the ship, but it's not going to be easy to move her."

"Do you have a stretcher?" Anakin asked, frowning.

"Yes," Basha said as he stopped applying the bandages for a moment. He reached into his pack and pulled out a rolled up stretcher. He held it out to Anakin. "Just set it down and press the button. It'll pop into place."

Anakin took it with a raised brow. He then did as he was asked and the stretcher sprang to life behind Drum, causing Anakin to jump back. "Whoa," he breathed out, stunned.

"Alright, get her back to the ship," Obi-Wan ordered. "I'm going after Maui."

"No, he'll kill you," Sasha said, panicked, gripping his hand tightly. "Master, you're not safe. He has something planned for you. I'm the bait." She warned. Maul had been in here a while ago after he had caught her trying to escape. He told her all about his plan for her Master. Obi-Wan really was in danger.

"I know," Obi-Wan said, squeezing her hand gently. "But I can't let him get away with this. With hurting you." He paused as he swallowed. "Or killing Satine. He must be arrested. And I won't be alone." He glanced up at Anakin, who nodded in agreement to his statement.

Sasha frowned at him then slowly nodded. "Please be careful."

"I promise," Obi-Wan said, giving her hand one more squeeze before letting go. He then looked at Basha and Drum. "Get her out of here."

The two medics nodded. Basha and Drum got their hands under her, and in one swift motion, picked her up. Sasha let out a cry as it hurt to move. The Clones laid her down on the stretcher and carefully strapped her to it. Her breathing was heavy as they moved to either end of the stretcher before carefully lifting it up. She looked at Obi-Wan as he stood up and moved over to talk to Cody. He said something to him that she wasn't able to hear as her head spun. He then came back over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"It'll be okay," Obi-Wan whispered to her. "I promise." He then nodded to the two medics.

Basha and Drum started to walk out of the cell with Sasha between them, leaving Obi-Wan and Anakin behind in the cell. Sasha watched them for a moment then started to feel herself drifting off as the two medics moved quickly down the corridor. A hand grabbed hers as they went along. Coming out of her daze, she looked up to see that Scamp was now moving alongside her with his weapon drawn in his other hand. He gave her a reassuring nod and that was the last thing she saw.

Obi-Wan watched them go with a creased brow, his worry for his padawan obvious. He felt a hand on his shoulder that pulled his attention away from the door. He glanced over to see Anakin.

"She'll be okay. She's strong," Anakin said comfortingly. "And we got here in time. Now let's go pay Maul a visit."

Obi-Wan nodded. He was right and they were wasting time standing here. "You're right." He said, then looked to the Clones who were patiently awaiting their orders. "Let's go and find Maul. But be on your toes."

The Clones nodded and moved aside as Obi-Wan and Anakin exited the cell. Obi-Wan led the way out of the cell bay, walking with a purpose. Anakin kept up beside him as they moved.

"So how do you plan to find Maul?" Anakin asked as they entered into the main corridor.

"He is around here somewhere," Obi-Wan said, looking up and down the corridor. "I can still sense him. But we may need to check every room."

"That could take all day," Anakin pointed out. "I'll contact the ship and have them perform a base wide sweep for lifeforms."

"Good idea," Obi-Wan said as he looked to the others. He signaled for them to form up and cover the corridor.

Anakin pulled out his comm and called the ship. After a moment, the pilot answered. "Sol here."

"Hey, it's Skywalker," Anakin started. "I need you to run a base wide scan for lifeforms. Specifically Maul. He should be alone."

"One moment sir," Sol said. There were a few moments of tense silence. "Okay, we found him, General."

"Where is he?" Obi-Wan spoke up, eager.

"He is to the right of your location. Follow the corridor to a large chamber. He is in there, alone," Sol responded.

"Thanks Sol," Anakin said before hanging up the comm.

Obi-Wan was already moving down the corridor before Anakin hung up. The Clones followed quickly on his heels followed shortly by Anakin. They reached the room in question a few moments later. Obi-Wan stopped before the door and grabbed his saber from his belt.

"Maul most likely has a plan in place," Obi-Wan started. "We need to stick together, move as one unit, and make sure Maul does not escape. Is that understood?"

"Sir, yes sir!" All of the Clones said.

Rex gestured and the Clones moved into position on either side of the doors, ready to clear the room once it opened. Anakin moved and stood beside his former master with his lightsaber also at hand. Obi-Wan glanced at Anakin and gave him a nod. Anakin nodded back and gestured to Cody at the control panel.

The doors slid open to reveal a large chamber with a set of windows that overlooked the valley in the back of the room. The room appeared to be some kind of large dining hall that hadn't been used as such in ages. And standing at the large center window on an elevated platform was Maul with his back to them and his hands behind his back. Obi-Wan and Anakin entered into the room as the Clones fanned out behind them, securing the chamber.

"Kenobi, how nice of you to finally join me," Maul said, bemused. "But I believe I ordered you to come alone."

Obi-Wan tried not to snarl. "And you told me that you would hand over Sasha if I came alone and surrendered. I only brought them here to make sure she got back safe as she is obviously in no condition to fly herself back right now. Instead, I arrive to find you nowhere and find her in critical condition. I think our deal is done." He hissed.

"Oh Kenobi," Maul said, shaking his head as he turned around. "Our deal is nowhere near done. Not until I see the life drain away from your body."

"You want me? Fine," Obi-Wan declared as he stepped forward. "But you leave my padawan, Anakin, the Jedi, the Republic, everyone alone."

"So be it, but they have to leave," Maul agreed as he pointed towards Anakin and the Clones.

"Not a chance," Anakin growled.

"Your defiance is your padawan's death," Maul said as he pulled out a switch from his belt. "I just press this and I send in my commandos to kill her. So either surrender or she dies." He moved his thumb slowly to press the button.

If this was anyone else, Obi-Wan would know that is an empty threat. Or one that was easy to deal with. But this was Maul. He killed Qui-Gon, Adi, and Satine. He tortured his padawan to near death. And if he pressed that switch, there was a likely chance that the Clones protecting her would have quite a fight on their hands and she would most likely be captured. That's when Obi-Wan realized this was all a part of Maul's plan. Sasha was right. He owed her an apology once this was over. If he ever saw her again. A pit formed in his stomach as he quickly realized that he may never see her again.

"Fine." Obi-Wan said, deflating. "Just leave her alone."

"Obi-Wan," Anakin gasped.

"You know the plan," Obi-Wan said under his breath as he turned to Anakin. "Wait for my signal." He then raised his voice for Maul to hear. "Go, Anakin. Make sure Sasha is okay." He pleaded.

Anakin swallowed uneasily, but nodded. "Rex… we're going." He then scratched his chin which was the signal for 'they would be right outside'. Obi-Wan gave the smallest of nods to that as he turned away.

"But General," Rex tried to argue.

"No, Rex. Let's go," Anakin said as he headed for the door.

The Clones hesitated but followed after, leaving Obi-Wan and Maul alone.

Basha and Drum moved quickly through the corridors, thankfully running into no resistance from Maul. They reached the hangar and hurried towards the shuttle.

"Move," Scamp ordered as he continued to run beside Sasha's unconscious form on the stretcher.

Boil and Bow, the two clones that had been on sentry duty, immediately moved aside to give them enough room to hurry on board.

"Is the commander okay?" Boil asked, concerned.

"She will be," Scamp assured him as they passed the two and boarded the ship. "Now stay here and keep an eye out."

'Sir, yes, sir!" Both Clones said as they resumed their positions.

Basha and Drum moved the stretcher into the small quarters that was doubling as their medbay on the ship. They pulled the stretcher up to the bed they had prepped for Sasha during their journey there. Scamp stepped aside, letting go of Sasha's hand, and gave the other two room to work. The two medics carefully lifted her off the stretcher and onto the bed. She let out a groan of pain as they moved her, even in her unconscious state. Once she was settled onto the bed, they moved the stretcher aside and removed their buckets so they could see better to help her. Setting the buckets aside, they quickly got her set up with an IV and a couple other scanners to continually monitor her vitals. They even put an oxygen mask on her to help with her breathing as it did seem a bit ragged.

Scamp sat down on the edge of the other bed across from Sasha and watched with a nervous energy as his two brothers worked feverishly to save their commander. He was kind of surprised they hadn't shooed him from the room to give them privacy while they worked. All of the medics and medical droids on the ships always did that whenever he helped bring in his brothers or even Sasha or General Kenobi in for help. But he wasn't going to say anything now. He promised the Generals as he left the cell that he would watch over her until they returned and that's exactly what he was going to do.

For the next ten minutes, he sat in the tense silence of the room as Basha and Drum took care of Sasha. They wrapped her wounds with bacta patches and bandages. They straightened her leg out and placed it into a brace to keep it still. They gave her a lot of different medications that he had to assume helped with the pain and whatever else she was battling. He had heard the list Drum had listed off for General Kenobi and Scamp's stomach turned that she was in that condition. He wondered if that had been any later, would they have even found her alive?

Scamp quickly shook that thought away. That was a very negative thought to have. He was beyond grateful she was okay. He mentally admonished himself for even thinking like that.

Finally after what felt like an eternity of waiting, Basha and Drum stepped away from Sasha, finished. Scamp straightened up on the bed as he noticed them move away and wipe their brow.

"How is she?" Scamp asked, worriedly.

"She's stable," Drum started as he looked at Scamp. "She should be okay once we get her to the nearest medical center and into a bacta tank. Right now, though, she's in a bit of a rough spot."

"But she'll pull through," Basha added quickly. "She's strong and determined."

"I know she is," Scamp said, sighing. "Is there anything we should worry about?"

"She's lost a lot of blood and hasn't had the proper nutrients in some time," Basha continued, frowning slightly. "The IV we have her on should help with that. And we've given her something to help with the blood loss as well as wrapped her wounds. We've also hopefully stopped any chance of infection, but there's always the possibility. Her concussion is worrying as it has the highest risk of turning things from okay to worse. But we've given her medication to help with the swelling. Other than that, there really isn't anything else."

"What about her broken ribs?' Scamp asked, gesturing to her tightly wrapped midsection. "You mentioned one of the bones was close to puncturing a lung?"

"Yes, but the scanner didn't pick up any tissue damage on the lung," Drum responded. "So unless she does something to cause it to shift before it's probably healed, she should be in the clear."

That caused Scamp to fully sigh in relief. "Alright. Thank you both for helping her."

"Of course, Lieutenant," Basha said as he started to clean up.

Scamp stood from the bunk and stared at her resting form. She was heavily bandaged and looked worse for wear, but now that she was getting treatment, he felt relieved. He looked to Basha and Drum. "I'm going to go keep watch. Call me when she wakes up or if her condition worsens," he ordered them, gently. "In the meantime, stay with her."

"Yes, sir." Drum said, nodding his head.

Scamp returned the nod before casting one last, worrying glance at Sasha. Then he looked away and stepped out of the room. The door sliding shut behind him.

The room was silent for a long moment before either Obi-Wan or Maul spoke. There was a vast room of space between them as Maul remained on the platform and Obi-Wan remained near the door. Then Maul's hand raised and Obi-Wan was immediately pulled across the room. Obi-Wan could have tried and resisted, but he was trying to play the part. He did surrender to Maul after all and this was to protect his friends. His padawan. His family.

As he reached Maul, he was slowed by the Force before he was dropped at the base of the platform. Obi-Wan managed to land in a crouch, but couldn't move further as Maul used the Force and kept him in place.

"I have waited for years for this moment," Maul started as he loomed over Obi-Wan. "You took everything from me. And I have taken everything from you. Well, almost everything." He sneered. "You still have your life and your precious padawan. And today I am going to end your life after you watch me take your padawan from you." Maul knelt down before him and Obi-Wan glared at him. "And there is nothing you can do about it."

"I wouldn't be so cocky," Obi-Wan snarled. "Anakin will still see to it that you are defeated, even if I am dead. The Jedi Order will make sure you don't get away with this. We may not get revenge, but we will stop at nothing to make sure you don't take someone else's life away."

Maul smirked, evilly. "I was so close to breaking you when I killed your precious Duchess. How did it feel seeing your padawan a bloody mess? So close to death?" He asked, trying to get a rise out of him.

Obi-Wan held his glare, but tried not to let Maul get to him. Trying to keep his anger and frustration in check. He even kept his thoughts clear of every possible negative thought that wanted to enter as Maul could sense it. Sense the negativity and the darkness that was trying to seep into his heart.

"You won't win," Obi-Wan said, evenly.

"But I already have," Maul said, confidently as he stood up. "But I'll give you a chance to fend for yourself before I gut you alive before the whole galaxy."

He released his hold on Obi-Wan and the Jedi started to slowly move to his feet. Obi-Wan looked up at him as Maul still stood on the platform, just about a head taller than him.

"You'll regret giving me a chance at all," Obi-Wan said, grabbing his saber.

"We'll see about that," Maul sneered.

Obi-Wan Force pushed Maul back and the Sith flew back into the window. A spider web like crack formed as he impacted with the window. Maul dropped from the window and landed in a crouch. He then snarled as he produced his saber from his belt and lunged forward, activating it in the process. He swung wildly, aiming for Obi-Wan's neck. Obi-Wan side stepped, parrying the blade off to the side as his own came alive in a snap hiss and kicked at Maul's backside. The kick landed and Maul tumbled forward, almost into a table.

Maul regained his footing and wheeled around with a snarl. He leapt forward, bringing his saber down in a vicious overhead chop. Obi-Wan blocked it and it pushed him back slightly. They glared each other down as Maul put his full weight behind the blade and tried to bisect Obi-Wan. Dropping to one knee, Obi-Wan allowed Maul to bring him down. But once he reached his knee, he used his position to grab Maul's hilt with his left hand and pull him over as he used his knee to throw Maul over him. Maul flipped over the Jedi and landed with a thud on the ground as Obi-Wan got up to his feet.

With a snarl, Maul Force pushed Obi-Wan back and the Jedi went flying across the room colliding with a couple tables on the far side of the room. The collison made his sore body scream as it awoke old pain that had long since disappeared. But he pushed that aside as he looked up and watched as Maul stalked towards him, throwing tables and chairs off in different directions, clearing a path straight to Obi-Wan. Quickly, Obi-Wan staggered to his feet and blocked the vicious slash Maul swung at him as he closed the distance. They then started moving backwards as Maul threw slash after swipe after strike at Obi-Wan, who blocked them and parried them as efficiently as he could. But Obi-Wan wasn't giving him any advantages or openings. He was not, could not, lose to Maul. This was his chance to defeat the Sith once and for all.

But soon his back hit the far wall and Obi-Wan found himself in quite a spot as he was now stuck. Maul slashed at him and Obi-Wan ducked to the side, dodging the blade. It scored the wall and cut through the durasteel enough that if one looked through the melting metal they might see the hall on the other side. Maul brought his saber up and around to do the same strike again, trying to cut him. Obi-Wan dodged to the other side as the blade connected with the wall again, adding another slash to it. Obi-Wan then kicked out with his leg for Maul's gut, but Maul caught his leg and twisted it around causing Obi-Wan to lose balance and drop to his knees awkwardly, Maul still holding his leg. Maul then brought his saber down in a stabbing motion to stab Obi-Wan in the back. But Obi-Wan thought fast and used his other leg and knocked Maul's feet out from under him, sending him to the floor and his saber moving away.

Obi-Wan got to his feet again and put some distance between him and the Sith. He then readied his saber again to continue their duel. Maul kipped up to his feet and glared at Obi-Wan. He reached out with the Force and tried to push Obi-Wan back, but the Jedi resisted and kept his footing. Maul then slashed forward with his saber and the blade managed to graze Obi-Wan's thigh. A yelp escaped his lips as the blade connected and he tried to keep his footing. Maul then slashed again and this time the blade caught Obi-Wan in the side. Obi-Wan hissed in pain as he dropped to one knee, clutching his side.

Maul leaned in close as he grabbed Obi-Wan by the throat. "Did you think I was a fool?" He hissed. "I can sense your clones and Skywalker outside that door. They have not left. And for your insolence, they will be punished." He produced the controller.

He knew what that controller meant. Sasha was in danger. "No!" Obi-Wan cried out, but Maul tightened his grip on his throat and he choked.

Maul thumbed the button and a red alert sounded through the complex.

Anakin had been pacing a path into the corridor as he waited for the signal from Obi-Wan to charge in and help take down Maul. But suddenly an alarm started to sound throughout the base and that caused all of the clones and himself to look around in anticipation. Suddenly the sound of metal feet were heard marching down the halls towards them..

"Arms up men," Rex ordered as he produced his twin blaster pistols and leveled them at the corridor to his right. "We're about to have company."

"This is where the fun begins," Fives said with a smirk to his tone as he did the same as Rex but the opposite direction.

Everything felt foggy and heavy. Sasha didn't know where she was, but her body felt strange. Like it was suddenly made of the hardest element and she couldn't move. But her limbs weren't restricted of movement except her left leg. It felt like it was braced in something. And there was something on her face that wasn't there before. Then all of the pain from her injuries resurfaced to greet her. But they were duller this time, but only a little bit. Her ribs and head still ached. Her leg felt better, but she was sure if she tried to move it it would hurt. And all of her lacerations stung. But compared to how she felt when she first woke after her Master saved her, this was a better feeling.

Her Master.

She could vaguely sense him in the Force, but she could tell he was nearby. And he was in danger. She remembered that much. And she needed to help him. Maul was going to kill him. There was no surviving their duel today. She knew what Maul had in mind for Obi-Wan: it was that after she was saved, Maul was going to lure Obi-Wan into a room, separate him from the others, fight him one on one until he'd collapse, and then send commandos out to kill all of the Clones and drag her back to be killed before her Master before he is killed next. And this would be broadcast for the whole galaxy to see, the ending part that is. She could already sense the battle occurring right this second. The light side and dark side were battling each other in the Force, she could partially sense that around her. This all meant her connection was returning, but everything was still blurry. Either way, there was no time to waste.

Sasha slowly opened her eyes. Everything was hazy and seemed muffled. She thought she heard voices say something as she saw white figures move before her. She couldn't make out their shapes initially, but as her vision slowly cleared it became obvious they were Clones. Their names, however, escaped her as she looked up at them. Only one name seemed to come to her as she opened her mouth and tried to speak.

"Obi-Wan…" She gasped out, her throat dry. "Where…"

"He's not back, Commander," one of the Clones said as he came to her side.

"He's… in danger," Sasha tried to tell them as she started to move.

"The General will be alright, but you need to remain still," he admonished as he tried to gently push her back down to the mattress.

"Let me… go," Sasha pleaded as she continued to resist with what little energy she had. She clenched her jaw as her breathing quickened as she tried.

"Get the Lieutenant," the Clone said to the other as he tried to keep her laying down. The other Clone left the room and this one grabbed her by both of her shoulders. "Commander, please. Lay down. You're in no condition to move."

"I have to… help him," Sasha explained as she somehow managed to get up onto one of her elbows which resulted in a sharp wince from her ribs and the laceration in her side. She reached up and removed the mask. "I can't lose another Master." She mumbled as she dropped the mask, panting slightly.

"Let her go," another clone's voice said from the doorway.

"But sir, her injuries," the clone medic pleaded as he still tried to keep her in the bed.

"I gave you an order, Drum," the new clone said, sharply. "Now let her go. Let me talk to her."

The Clone, known as Drum, nodded and released her. He stepped away from the bed. Sasha continued to struggle to get into a sitting position even with his hands removed. Her breathing felt strained as she struggled to do this simple task. The new Clone stepped over and placed his hand gently on her shoulder.

"Sasha, you need to lie down. You're severely injured," the Clone said gently.

She looked up at him and realized who was talking to her. "Scamp…" She breathed out. He had his bucket off and was looking at her with a very worried expression. "No, Obi-Wan is in danger."

"General Kenobi is fine. I promise," Scamp said, confidently. "He has Rex, Cody and General Skywalker with him. I know you want to go help him, but Sasha you're in no condition. You shouldn't even be trying to sit up right now. You need to heal if you're going to help him. So please, lie back down and rest."

"But Maul… he's going to kill him," Sasha argued as her breathing became erratic. It felt like something was stabbing her lungs and stealing away her air. "I can't… lose him too… Like I lost Zane… and Satine…" She struggled to say as she suddenly became dizzy. Scamp's hand on her tightened as she faltered.

"Sir," Drum said from behind Scamp, his voice full of panic.

"I know," Scamp said, urgently without even looking at Drum. "Sasha, I understand you're worried about him. And I understand why after everything that's happened. But you need to lie down." He pressed. "Please. If you don't, you'll be risking further injury and you won't be able to help General Kenobi. And we can't lose you too."

Sasha looked up at him, taken aback by what he said. Was her condition really that bad? The pain she was feeling in her chest at the moment was telling her yes as it hurt to breathe. She slowly nodded, giving into his pleas, and allowed him to help her lie down. She winced sharply again as everything moved back into a still position. Her chest rising and falling in quick succession as she still felt short of breath. She felt warm too. Sasha hadn't fully noticed that before, but now that she was lying down again, she was able to notice she felt uncomfortably warm.

Scamp moved aside to give Drum room to work, but he stayed close to the bed as he stood by at her feet. Drum grabbed the mask from where it had fallen, dusted it off, and set it down beside her head as he then reached for a scanner. The second clone medic that she now recognized as Basha came around to her other side and checked the monitors they had set up for her.

"Where does it hurt?" Drum asked as he started to run the scanner over her.

"Chest," Sasha breathed out sharply.

Drum moved the scanner over her chest and inhaled sharply before cursing under his breath. "It's the broken rib, it's pressing into the lung."

"But I thought its position was close, not that close," Basha exclaimed, looking at his fellow medic stunned.

"Looks like we were wrong," Drum said, frustrated with himself. "I'm sorry, Commander." He then mumbled softly to her, apologetically.

"Then what do we do?" Scamp asked from the foot of the bed, looking anxiously between his two brothers. Drum and Basha looked at each other for a moment, contemplating what to do. "Men, we don't have all day!" Scamp barked. "Is this something you can take care of now or will she be okay until the others return? Because I can haul this bucket of bolts out of here and to the nearest medical center if it means she'll be okay. I'll take full responsibility with the Generals for leaving them behind. But I need to know now!"

"Scamp, that won't be necessary," Drum finally answered. "The bone is pressing into it. It hasn't punctured it yet. But she has to remain still or else it will puncture the lung." He gave her a sharp look at that.

Sasha nodded, understanding the situation. She knew this wasn't the first time she had a punctured lung, but this definitely was the first time she was conscious for the discussion about it. She had to admit this was a terrifying discussion to be present for, even if her mind felt hazy at the moment. For what little research she had done on medicine, she knew one thing for sure and that was that punctured lungs were a horrifying injury to have. And without proper and most times immediate treatment, she could die. If there was a chance to prevent it from puncturing, Sasha was all for it. "Then… please. Do something… about it." She ordered breathlessly. "I don't care what. I…" She hiccupped as tears came to her eyes. "I need… to be here… for Obi-Wan. Please." She sounded so scared. She always tried to keep a brave face when around the Clones, but given the current circumstances, her health, and pain of losing Satine still very present in both her and her Masters mind, it was hard to stay brave.

Drum frowned at that then sighed. "We don't have a proper surgical suite here, but we do have all the tools." He groaned. She was right. If they could do something about it now, it would be once less thing they'd have to worry about. And it would mean she would be in a more stable condition.

"It should also be a fairly easy procedure because it hasn't punctured the lung yet," Basha pointed out.

"Alright, let's prep her for surgery." Drum said, looking at Basha.

The other medic nodded as Drum stepped away from the bed. He started removing his armor on his arms and torso so he had more mobility to operate. Basha followed suit once he finished pulling out the surgical tools and setting them up accordingly. Scamp moved back over to Sasha's side.

"I'll be right here when you wake up," Scamp assured her. "You have my word, Commander." He added more formally.

Sasha smirked as she grabbed his hand and he squeezed it tightly in return. "I know… you will be." She said, tiredly.

Scamp remained at her side as Drum and Basha continued prepping. It took them a couple minutes before they gloved up and came ro her side. Scamp moved aside, but remained next to her, holding her hand as Basha replaced the mask to her face. Drum then administered something into her arm. And before she realized it, Sasha drifted to sleep.

As soon as she was unconscious, Scamp let go of her hand and stepped away to give Drum and Basha plenty of room to operate. They were continuing to prep when the door slid open. Scamp looked over to see Sol, one of the pilots, in the doorway.

"Sir, we've got company," Sol informed him.

"What are you talking about?" Scamp said as he moved over to the door and blocked Sol's view of the operation about to occur.

"Droids, sir," Sol said, hefting his blaster. "They came out of nowhere and are surrounding the ship."

Scamp blanched at that. "Alright, let's move to deal with them," he said, then looked to Drum and Basha. "Stay here and lock the door. Do not let anyone who isn't one of our brothers or the Generals in."

"Understood," Basha said, nodding.

Scamp grabbed his bucket and headed for the exit to the room. He cast one last glance at Sasha as the medics finished their preparation. He then slipped on his bucket and exited the room. He heard the mechanism in the door lock behind him once he was outside. Scamp produced his blaster pistols and followed Sol for the ramp.

When they got closer to the ramp, they could both hear blaster fire as they approached. Scamp and Sol came down the ramp cautiously to find the other four brothers fighting off against Commandos that surrounded the ship. They quickly returned fire as they dodged the blaster fire. Scamp ducked for cover near the base of the ramp. He did a quick head count of the enemy to see how many droids they were dealing with. He counted twenty.

Twenty commandos versus five Clones. The numbers were not on their side. And their only advantage was lying in surgery aboard the ship. This wasn't good.

"Men," Scamp spoke up through the inner bucket comms to the others fighting. "We need to do everything to protect the ship. We cannot let them get their hands on the Commander. She's in no condition to fight, so it's our job to make sure she is safe. And if this is our last stand, it's been an honor fighting with you, brothers."

"For the Republic!" Bow called out that it could be heard as a loud muffle from under his bucket.

Scamp couldn't help but smirk. But his smirk quickly faded as he laid down fire and then called his commanding officer through a private channel, so the others didn't hear. "Cody, this is Scamp. We've got a problem. The ship's surrounded by commandos and the Commander is in surgery. We need help if you can send it!"

"Surgery? Is she alright?" Cody responded, shocked. "Should I tell the General?"

"No, not yet," Scamp responded, quickly. "And she should be okay. One of the ribs was pushing into her lung. They are taking care of it, on her orders, before it punctures."

Cody was silent for a moment as a few bolts flew a little too close to his cover. "I'll see what we can do. We are tied up here."

"Thanks, Cody," Scamp said before ending the call and returning fire, killing the droid that had almost nicked him.

They had to hold their ground until reinforcements showed up. Or die trying.
