Charles stared at the shattered moon, his heart beginning to race, and he did the only thing he could think of, he ran. His dagger in his right hand gripped tight, the leather grip pressing against his calloused palm, and as he dodged a guard, he broke out onto a busy street. His curly black hair was beginning to get in the way of his vision, and he brushed it away with his free hand. His dagger was soon tucked away as he heard the people he rushed past mutter to themselves.
His sprint broke as he entered an alley, turning his body as he braced himself against a wall, nearly collapsing as he took shakey breaths. "Okay, okay, okay, think..." He said to himself, wiping his face with both hands, and he took a minute to collect himself. His pale hands rubbed his face as his brain processed what had happened so far, being ambushed, fleeing when he saw how many foes he would have to face, hearing the leader bark orders to get him, using his magic to fling illusions behind him to try and get away, and finally into diving into the Labirynth.
His eyes travelled upwards and he began to properly get his bearings, once more fixing his eyes on the shattered moon. "Where am I?" He asked himself, before heading back out onto the street, joining the crowd once more. His black shirt was ripped and shredded in places, his jeans muddy and his boots covered in dirt. Slowly he tried to find a sort of landmark, anything big and populated, eyeing street signs, none of the names familiar to him. After almost twenty minutes of just following the crowd, he broke away, down a mostly empty street, 'I need to try an Iris message'. He thought to himself, before hearing the shattering of glass, and before him a man was flung through a storefront.
From within that store he could once more feel the magic from those crystals, and he looked at the man, spotting a young woman with some kind of red box, that had began to expand and turn into a scythe. He shuddered and then glanced into the store, seeing men with red swords, "What in the?" He muttered as she began to flourish her weapon, a wicked looking thing, crimson and silver. He had heard stories of what a certain scythe could do, and that had scared him enough to keep his distance from those things. Three thugs burst out of the store at the command of another guy, and he sighed, grabbing the unconscious thug's sword off the ground, only to recoil at the sound of a gunshot, seeing her twirl and take out two thugs in a row, her moving with the recoil of her gun.
A thug had spotted him picking up the blade, rushing towards him with a sloppy swing, and he parried the strike, before leaning into his momentum, driving the pommel of the sword against the thug's temple, and the man crumpled. "What is with this place?" He asked himself as he looked at the young woman and the guy in white. "Whats going on?" He called out, the fallen thug's blade in his hand, grabbing their attention. The girl blinked, "This guy and his thugs were robbing this store." She said, and the guy in white began to raise his cane, Charles just barely able to spot the scope, and he blinked. "Look out!" He shouted, just in time for a shot to be fired from the cane.
He covered his eyes, spotting the man fleeing in the midst of the explosion, and he gave chase. 'I should not be doing this', He thought to himself, seeing him move up the ladder, and he followed, "Stop!" He called out, trying to feel the Mist, to try and trip the man up, but it was incredibly faint, and all he could do was make a rung above the man turn invisible for a moment. This sudden disappearance caused the man to falter for a moment, and Charles nearly caught up, but he was a bit too slow. He heard footsteps behind him, and as he made it over onto the roof, the girl had made it up beside him. The two teens looked at the man as the girl called out, "Hey!"
An aircraft suddenly lifted itself up into the air, and Charles could feel the magic radiating off of something within, it was raw, potent and twisted. The man tossed one of those crystals, a red one, and shot at it, an explosion going off, though no debris seemed to strike Charles. As he opened his eyes, he saw a woman with some kind of riding crop standing in front of him and the girl. A purple barrier floated in the air before her, and he stared in awe, he could feel no magic from it. And the aircraft began to get pelted with some kind of attack from the woman, and he stood there in awe as another burst of magic radiated out, accompanying a fireball, then some wierd blast and attacks, culminating in a set of explosions that stole away their attention.
The aircraft took away and he looked at the two women, the older one specifically as she scowled at the two of them. "You're a huntress." The scythe girl said, and with a dumbfounded look on his face, Charles simply asked, "What the hell just happened?"
Small AN: Didn't mean for this to take so long, but life is one hell of a ride, so I have been rather side tracked. Hoping to get another chapter out before the end of November, and at the latest before Christmas.
