Chapter 6 On The Run

Stiffs in suits rummaged through the office while the employees were forced to the side watching as the agents investigated everything that Izuku Midoriya put his hands on. The agents tore up the office, papers and confidential information littered the floor. The supervisor was floored yelling, "I should have never hired that man! His kind are bad omens!"

Bakugo narrowed his angry eyes, just watching as everything was searched around him. Everything that Deku touched was getting examined. He barked at the suits knowing that the extra didn't mettle with any of his work so they need to step away from his organized station. He didn't need to clean up his station, it would be a waste of his time whereas he could be out in the field doing what he does best.

The agent looked at Bakugo doubtfully. Bakugo was irritated, it was like the agents had expected him to also have had that green-haired bastard editing his work. Bakugo snarled, "I don't need that pansy ass in my business and I certainly don't need a stiff in a suit disorganizing my shit. All the rest of them had him edit and correct their reports. And there is no way that cry baby would be leaking confidential information from this office to terrorists. So, stop making a mess out of everyone's work so we can do our jobs in the field."

One of the higher up agents in charge strode over to him, "Do you know him personally?"

Bakugo scoffed, "Had the misfortune of growing up together, and no, we ain't close." The agent directed the blonde to a closed office to question him.

"You have no idea of the whereabouts of where he is or where he would run off to?" The agent interrogated.

Bakugo glared, "No. He doesn't have any family nor friends, he's just running aimlessly like the idiot he is."

"We can charge you with obstruction if you lie about his whereabouts."

Bakugo opened his palms as little firecracker explosions crackled, "Try threatening me, you bastard. I got nothing to do with this. You people must be idiots if you can't see the picture about Deku. He keeps to himself with his head low, he doesn't want to cause any problems since jobs for people like him are hard to come by. If he really is going the terrorist route, I wouldn't be surprised, with how the world treated him." The blonde thought more to himself, There's no way Deku would be petty enough to be violent towards the world even if it were against him.

Bakugo nudged the agents away from him, "If you people can't find him, then find a different career. He doesn't have a gift nor any combat background, he will be the easiest person to apprehend." He strode out of the office to take his spot back with his coworkers as they continue to watch agents rummage through everything. Bakugo narrowed his eyes, Deku is a weakling and emotional, but the bastard is resourceful with languages and has a friendly approach. It's possible that if he could manage to get out of the country, he could become adaptable.

Bakugo scoffed as the agents weren't so gentle as they shoved his coworkers for individual questioning. Always thinking about yourself huh Deku? Leave a mess behind so others can clean up after you. You haven't learned to stand up for yourself and harden your skin, you are just letting yourself be a pansy to take people's crap. You're such an idiot.

Izuku stopped for gas on the outskirts of farmland. He peered at the creatures in his car, Sonic and Tails were sleeping in the backseat while Knuckles continued to glare out of the window as the moon began to rise higher in the sky. The adult of the group put a hat on and hastily went inside the gas station to pay by cash to prevent leaving behind a paper trail.

He paid for the pump station and headed back out, Izuku nervously glanced at a repair shop with broken cars parked outside. We can get tracked by our license plate – I need to change it out. Izuku grabbed a screwdriver from the back.

Izuku remarked to Knuckles, "Be on the look out to make sure the cashier isn't watching."

Knuckles stared at him momentarily then shifted his gaze to the gas station wordlessly.

Izuku went to the back and front of his car as he proceeded in taking off the license plates and nonchalantly went to the repair store to switch out the plates. Thanks to the cover of night, his illegal action was better hidden as he exchanged his plates from another car that was a similar model to his.

He was hoping they can catch one of the ferries that carried cars to Korea using the Camellia Line to travel from Fukuoka to Busan. He had a plan to keep the boys in the car while the ferry carries them across the water to prevent them from raising any suspicion.

Izuku worked quietly as he attached his new license plates to their car. He slipped back in the car and continued their journey. Izuku let out a sigh of relief, thankful for the silence. Earlier that day it was practically one hundred questions – he had been under high stress and too focused on the drive to not swerve or drive too fast to safely leave the prefecture's limits. Most of the questions had been directed to Knuckles, which he noticeably answered nonchalantly and briefly. Their new addition was reserved, not too keen on elaborating his motives.

Izuku had thought about it on their ride, how this teenager must have endured hardships to make him as cold and collected as he was. Izuku felt some pity towards him, how it was not fair for the youth to be forced to grow up so fast due to war and death. The red creature next to him didn't see himself as a child no more, but stubbornly, Izuku is still willing to treat him as such in attempts to ease him.

Knuckles broke the silence of tranquil snores and the hum of the car engine, "Where are you going?"

Izuku jumped slightly, he wasn't expecting the Echidna to initiate conversation first, "I am going to take us to a ferry that can carry us across the water to another country."

Knuckles gazed out to the window once more, "Would it seize the hunt?"

Izuku hesitated to answer at first. These were government agents, he was sure they had the means of using their authority outside of their own country, "It will give us some time."

"If running doesn't seize the hunt, why not fight and prevent the unnecessary travel?" Knuckles asked.

Izuku sighed glancing at the red furred creature, "I don't have any fighting experience, and neither have them."

Knuckles narrowed his eyes, "Pathetic. The Owl dropped off battle illiterate children to a docile adult –."

"Maybe 'the Owl' didn't want them to be warriors and to be uninvolved with fighting." Izuku grumbled.

Knuckles scoffed, "She is a fool, whenever the crystals are involved, the meek will be tempted to obtain them, whatever means necessary."

"You keep on saying crystals, so whatever they are, are they what brought you here too?"

Knuckles crossed his arms, "I'm not one of those that are influenced by their promise for power. I am one of the last guardians for the crystals. They need to return to their shrines to lessen their influence on weak minded individuals that can easily be corrupted by their power." The Echidna threw his thumb back over his shoulder to point to Sonic, "The boy is just a pack mule until the crystals find their host."

Izuku kept his eyes on the road as he quickly looked towards the rear-view mirror to Sonic, "A pack mule to find their host?"

"An avatar, a being that can withstand the full force of the energy the crystals radiate. Unworthy holders become corrupted, can even rot to dust as the energy eats them from the inside out. Many of my ancestors attempted to will the crystals to their bidding. Some have obeyed and prospered the colonies which they had resided in. But other crystals inflicted their wrath for being used as battened weapons laying waste on their users, even towards the societies that have sworn to protect and worship them." Knuckles answered, his purple eyes stared towards the stars.

Knuckles' mind went to Lyric, The Snake Ancient, who was one of the first creatures that had fallen to the crystals' corruption that led to madness with the fall of the Ancient society. He knew Lyric wanted the power of the crystals once again to continue his conquest of the galaxies and Knuckles felt it was mercy to prevent the Snake Ancient from touching the sickening flow of chaos again. Knuckles will extract the crystals from the boy before he succumbs to the sickness of being in contact with all the crystals. This crusade of having all the crystals together to make an ultimate entity would finally be put to rest.

Izuku took in the information, fear ran through him – the fear for Sonic, having that untapped energy underneath his skin worried him. He wasn't sure what this Owl did to Sonic in order to prevent the crystals from destroying the hedgehog, but he didn't like the thought that anything could spark the gems to react. "Is there anyway to stop the crystals from going off?"

Knuckles pondered over the question, "It's the crystals will, think of them as their own entities that are aware of their surroundings and existence. Yes, they are an energy source, but they sort of have a conscious of their own, they can essentially choose who can wield their power, but they have the capability to destroy their vessel. A being has to convince and indulge the crystals to use their power, but very few are able to withstand their might for long periods of time."

"But you said Sonic was a pack mule, so how can he withstand those crystals for that long unless he is one of those avatars you spoke about?" Izuku asked.

Knuckles sighed, "That is why I am puzzled and decided to come with you to determine what he is. He isn't radiating off crystal energy, but sometimes he does with little to no remanence left behind. If he was a mere pack mule, he would not be able to use the crystals, and most likely the Owl convinced the crystals to stay dormant to evade discovery. But I'm sure even a pack mule would succumb to being destroyed by having that much energy within him."

"Then take them out of him!" Izuku hissed over a whisper to prevent waking the two in the back.

Knuckles glared at him, "And raise a beacon for all geokinesis beings to our location? No, I need preparations to safely and discreetly retrieve them."

Izuku scowled glaring back at the road as they continue their trip, "Promise me it won't hurt him."

"I will give no such promises." Knuckles responded shifting in his seat so his back was facing Izuku to signify the end of this conversation.

Drones and cameras worked overtime as they combed through every route leading out of the city in every direction. The Eggman traveled in his mobile lab as cameras indicated a description of the vehicle had been sighted on a security system from a run-down gas station practically out in the boonies. Multiple agents and drones are in the area tracking down the direction of where the car was heading.

The plump man studied the camera noticing this Izuku Midoriya changing the license plates. Such a feeble attempt to outsmart my creations. The new license plates were already running in the systems for any camera toll or street surveillance. His beady eyes narrowed, he exploited the keyboards as he overrode tolls and electric pathways to limit the routes that one can take. The buildup and limit of routes should signal in on the simpletons that were attempting to evade him and the government.

They had examined everything within this giftless's house and workplace – painting a good picture of Izuku Midoriya's habits and his comforts, even the questionable child-like items within the home gave some insight on the intelligence and characteristics of the creatures he had hid away.

The Eggman was certain the creatures were extraterrestrial; the evolution of the animal species was too fast for this planet – but it gave interesting insight of what route evolution would take in thousands of years to reach similar states. His attention went towards the continuation of route closures and the proximity of what was present in their directory – Oh trying to be sneaky, eh? And this is where we have checkmate. Eggman punched in a command of the monitor signaling the final escape route with a blockade, all personnel closing in on the entrapment. The energy source will soon be in the clutches and he will claim his ultimate prize.

Izuku had bought energy drinks from the last stop to keep him wide awake from driving all night to morning. The sun was at the horizon making him squint slightly by the assault of light. All three of the boys were sleeping, surprisingly the Echidna actually drifted to sleep after the intense conversation about chaos crystals with the green haired adult.

The route to their destination took longer than he initially planned with unexpected closures for entering different cities. He glanced at the clock and their location, he hoped they could reach the port before the morning ferry leaves. Izuku turned on the radio to see if there was any news for traffic and accidents in the area so he could plan out his routes better, rather hitting another road block.

Izuku slammed on the breaks and swerved as a black SUV came right at him on the wrong side of the road. The sudden jerk brought the three boys out of their slumber, the two younger ones in the back screamed as another vehicle came at them as Izuku made another sharp maneuver as they got side swiped.

Sonic yelled, "What's happening?!"

"Put your seatbelts on and hang on!" Izuku ordered as he shifted gears in attempts to drive faster as another wave of vehicles sped towards them.

Adrenaline coursed through Izuku as multiple vehicles attempted to box them in as they were getting hit on all four sides of the car with the lead vehicle slamming on their breaks to slow them down.

Knuckles scoffed picking up his spear, "Time for running is over." The Echidna smashed through the window. He jumped out of the passenger window in a red blur as he thrust his spear through one of the SUV's front windshields, impaling the driver and freeing Izuku's car from that side.

Izuku gasped as their car got t-boned resulting them to get spun out of control and slammed into the highway divider. His head was spinning as the impact smashed the window sending glass shards at him. Tails and Sonic yelled for him with his vision going out of focus with his ears ringing.

Sonic shook Izuku, "Hey, stay with us, old man."

Izuku wheezed as he attempted to regain his bearings, "R—run."

Tails hastily unbuckled Izuku hearing shouting and heavy foot falls heading towards them. "We aren't leaving you." The fox urged as he pulled on Izuku with all his might with his tails feverishly spinning to pull the man freely out of the wreckage.

Sonic scrambled to his feet as the three of them got out of the car with Tails sitting on Izuku's shoulders as he fluttered him down on solid ground safely – exerting enough energy to carry the grown adult for a few moments.

Suits were pointing guns at the three of them, while in the distance Knuckles was swerving down advancing agents and vehicles with each flash of his speed attack. Sonic pushed aside the shaking fear as he watched the older strike down agents with a red blur of speed. If he can do it – I can too! Sonic flashed through the advancing agents tripping them in their wake to give Izuku an opening to run.

Tails stayed on top of Izuku's shoulders as the adult advanced through his opening between disoriented agents. Izuku hurried towards an empty car, he fell forward as he was tackled from his waist. Tails screamed as he hopped off Izuku's shoulders and kicked at the assailant to release his father figure.

Sonic zoomed through the waves of the agents as he swiftly tripped them up – he laughed nervously feeling his muscles burn from the excessive stop and go of his attacks. He stood frozen as he watched a swarm of drones come from the horizon blocking out the view of the sun by the sheer amount of them.

Knuckles flashed next to Sonic flicking his spear to free it from blood. The Echidna remarked, "You got fight in you after all."

Sonic showed him a lopsided smile, "I'm no quitter."

Knuckles rolled his eyes, "Don't stop now, stop when you are dead." Knuckles rushed forward as he sped up in a ball to strike at the advancing robots.

Sonic watched the Echidna destroy the drones with elegant rolls in the air before he struck down hard onto the next. The hedgehog went into a track runner stance, he breathed through his nose heavily as he charged up for his next attack. Go! Sonic released himself through the air, mimicking the rolling air move as he broke through multiple frontline drones.

Eggman came onto the scene, his glee evident as the doors to his mobile lab opened with his battle drones ready for combat. He watched eagerly as he saw strikes of blue and red ahead of him. Eggman set a command into his creations, "Bring them in alive."

His attention came back to his tablet as it read another unusual signature ahead, his beady eyes gaze towards the direction where a light shimmer of yellow could be seen. There is another? Oh, what a day to have three fine specimens!

The robots advanced to the three humanoid creatures just as another wave of agents and cops came onto the scene with their sirens blaring in all directions. Eggman watched intently as the red one smashed through a robot with a mighty gloved fist. He signaled in on the smaller blue one – the scientist stared at it, completely taken aback by how human it looked.

He glanced down at the tablet as the energy source readings from earlier was indeed the blue one. There you are my little prize!

Izuku caught Tails as the fox fluttered down from the sky after extorting a mighty kick to another agent. He ran towards where he last saw Sonic and Knuckles in hopes to force them back into another car and attempt to run away to recuperate.

The green haired adult gasped as a robot came straight at him with electrified limbs. Tails grunted out of his arms as he flicked his tails at the robot in attempts to destroy it. The robot spun last second landing an electrifying blow onto the fox. Tails screamed through the shocking pain, Izuku sprinted forward landing a kick into the side of the robot sending it flying back, he gasped as he jumped forward to catch Tails once again.

"Hang in there!" Izuku begged as Tails curled up into his arms, his fur burnt and raised by the electrification. He sprinted forward noticing the fall of metal and fire in the distance as drones combusted from getting assaulted by speed rolls from Knuckles and Sonic.

Sonic turned towards him, but before he could manage another word, a large robot advanced upon them sucker punching both Knuckles and Sonic to the asphalt ground. Knuckles gasped and rolled onto his feet to avoid another punch as he sent his spear flying towards the robot. The spear was swatted away by the robot's massive hand.

Izuku skidded forward to pull the stunned Sonic into his arms with Tails as he jumped back as he came too close between Knuckles and his attack upon the massive robot.

Knuckles harshly slammed his fists into the metal denting it slightly, he pulled his fist back as red energy sparked around his fist as he slammed the robot again leaving a fist-sized hole. Izuku watched in amazement as the large robot combusted in smoke and electricity. Knuckles smashed his gloves together as he yelled a warrior's cry as the large robot tumbled backwards only to be replaced by another swarm of drones.

A shot rang out, Izuku's arms flailed out by a force that slammed through him, releasing his hold on his two boys. Izuku gasped in pain, confusion and shock shook through him as he glanced down noticing blood seeping out of the front of his shirt.

Knuckles turned around swiftly; his eyes went large from shock that was before him just as he was tackled by an agent.

Izuku stared in front of him, watching as the three boys were kneed to the ground as they flailed and yelled for him. Their calls were deaf to his ears as he stared at them – Sonic and Tails with their eyes glistening with tears. Izuku could only hear the loud thumping of his own heart as it desperately pumped out blood to keep him alive. Save them! Move! Move! I need to save them! He attempted to move his body, but it barely moved aside from falling to his knees.

His green eyes focused on them, watching as they were beaten into submission by the agents. The two younger boys wailed in high pitched screams that were deaf to him alone. Blood gurgled in his throat as he attempted to yell for the agents to stop it. He needed to do something – he couldn't let it end like this!

Help! Somebody please save them! I beg of you!

His gasps were clotted with blood, he willed his body forward towards them, I need to save them! The world was still silent to him as the rush of blood and adrenaline aided his desperate attempts to move forward.

Izuku felt trickles of blood seeping down his lips to the ground, I must save them! He hacked violently resulting in more blood to slip down his body.

"Is that what you wish?" An eerie voice whispered into his mind; he gasped inwardly almost missing the words under his violent hacking. His green eyes focused on Sonic noticing light illuminating from the exhausted hedgehog.

Izuku thought desperately, Yes! I will do anything for them! Please save them!

"You are worthy to defend our vessel…"

Izuku's eyes widened open as strikes of light ran him through. Light exploded all around them, blinding everything in bright white. Every living being in that radius felt a shockwave run through them with a massive pressure enveloped all around them just as the blinding light faded…
