Here I am back with another chapter! So, there has been updates on the new Total Drama season, and the cast are an interesting bunch, also really Scary Girl? Nothing wrong, she sounds like a hoot. Although I do see a point in what everyone on the TD Discord servers I'm on are saying that they don't stand out as much, but they are bringing the show back after a number of years, so I guess they're not trying anything too crazy.
Besides that, I saw Black Adam, I mean screw the critics, I liked it, Dwayne Johnson did a good job. I just wished they had a little more focus on Atom Smasher and Cyclone. I'm also going to see Black Panther this weekend, so lets see what will happen.
And also, Rest in Peace to Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman. Still can't believe it.
I own none of the content, and please enjoy.
Melissa unfortunately did have a nightmare of her ordeal when she was kid, due to the Phobia Factor challenge, but it had only happened once. The next couple of days were fine with blissful sleep. Melissa didn't tell anyone about her dream, she didn't know if the others did due to their fears, but they possibly did, but didn't want to say anything.
It was a challenge day, but before anything happened, both Melissa and Bridgette went out to surf for a bit. Or the latter was teaching the former on how to surf better. They did it for like an hour, and were now heading back to the cabin.
"Gotta say, when you said you surfed occasionally, I thought you would need a couple of lessons to get a better hang of it. But I gotta say, you were a fast learner, Mel." Bridgette praised.
Melissa beamed, and said," Thanks. I am a quick learner when it comes to something I'm interested in. But I believe you outclass me."
Bridgette smirked, and said," And don't you forget it."
Both girls giggled, and walked into the cabin, got their clothes, and went to the washroom. They didn't notice Geoff look out the boy's side, and made sure to look around. Once he got the girls side of the cabin, he was glad no one was there. He walked inside, and then came back out a second later, and walked back to his side of the cabin.
Later both Melissa and Bridgette walked back to the cabin after showering, and were going to put their stuff away. Bridgette walked to her bunk, and noticed something under the cover. She raised a brow, pulled it back, and gasped in shock and horror.
"Oh my God." She said in disbelief.
Melissa went over to see what it was, and blinked at what she was seeing.
"Oh… that is so bad and corny at the same time." Melissa said, just as shocked.
Later, both teams were at a clearing, near the beach, where Chris had instructed them to for the challenge. Chris was standing in front of an easel that had a map of an island on it.
"Bass, Gophers, today's challenge is a true summer camp experience. A canoe trip." He said, and pointed to the canoes on the shoreline.
Melissa gulped, and Bridgette looked at her in concern. Especially with the fact she looked kinda green.
"You'll be paddling your canoes across the lake to. Boney Island!" Chris said the last part in a spooky voice. "When you get there, you must portage your canoes to the other side of the island, which is about a two-hour hike through treacherous, dense jungle." Chris explained as he showed them a map of where they were going to go.
"We gotta pour what?" Geoff asked confused.
"Portage. We have to walk with the canoes." Melissa told him.
"Oh, got it." Geoff said with a nod.
"As I was saying. When you arrive at the other end of the island, you'll build a rescue fire that will be judged by me. The first team to paddle home and return their canoes to the beach is the winner of invincibility."
"Uh Chris, can I go back to the cabins for a moment?" Melissa asked.
Chris shook his head, and said," Nope. Move, campers, move!"
Everyone started to run to the canoes, but was by Chris, who had something else to say. "Oh wait! One more thing I should mention. Legend has it, if you take anything off the island, you'll be cursed forever!"
As soon as he said the last part, thunder was heard, and caused everyone to fearfully look up, even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
"Oh yeah! Haha! A cursed island! Whoo!" Owen cheered, but the others didn't share his sentiments, and stared at him.
"Now, get in your canoes and let's have some fun!" Chris said, and this gave the contestants the cue to leave, and Owen cheered again.
The sound of a toilet flush was heard, and Beth ran into view in front of Chris, and she had toilet paper stuck to her show.
"What'd I miss?" She asked.
"Canoes." Chris said as he pointed to where everyone was at, and Beth took off after the others.
-Confessional (Melissa)-
Melissa looked worried, but she then took a breath.
"It's going to be okay. It's just a canoe." She said as a mantra, but she still looked worried.
Bridgette looked at Melissa, and saw the worried look she had, and asked." Are you okay Mel?"
Melissa sighed, rubbed her arm, and said." Yeah… I don't do well on boats. I get seasick. I have motion sickness pills in the cabins, but I didn't take one."
Bridgette winced, and said," So that's why you asked Chris to go back to the cabins. Don't worry. I'll do most of the paddling then if you're not up for it."
"No it's fine… I'll be fine. Don't worry about it." She said as she gave the surfer a weak smile.
-Confessional (Melissa)-
"Yeah, don't know how, but every time I'm on a boat, I get seasick. And I end up barfing all over the place. I'm good with swimming and any other aquatic sport. I do get a little queasy while surfing, but nothing major. I do take motion sickness pills that help. I would've taken them earlier, but I didn't know the challenge would involve something boat related." Melissa said with resigned sigh.
Everyone went to the canoes, Izzy tried to lift her's, but she ended up tumbling into it, while Leshawna looked at what she was doing with raised brow.
"Just follow my technique. I'm 1/87th Cherokee you know? Which means the tribe could claim me at anytime."
"Let's hope it's today." Leshawna grumbled as she pushed the canoe into the water.
Geoff was walking down the stairs, he saw Bridgette, who was smiling at him. Geoff smiled back and waved, while hoping she liked his gift from earlier. But his thoughts were shut down when Bridgette said.
"Courtney! You want to be partners with Mel and I?"
Geoff looked to see Courtney nodded as she walked down the stairs. And Geoff ended up face palming.
-Confessional (Geoff)-
"Man, I thought Bridge and I were tight, but suddenly, I don't know, it's like she's fadin' on me." Geoff said sadly, but he then perked up. "Nah! It's all good!"
"Hey Geoff, need a partner?" DJ asked as he patted the party dude on the back, and he gave a thumbs in confirmation.
"Excellent!" Geoff said, and the both of them walked to one of the canoes they were going to share.
Tyler approached them, and said," You guys mind if I have tag along? I can do all the paddling."
"Sure dude. Hop on." Geoff said.
-Confessional (Tyler)-
Tyler rubbed the back of his head, and looked slightly down.
"Yeah, I feel like I need to prove myself. After last challenge I came close to being voted off. So I'm going to try my hardest." He said the last part confidently.
The three of them passed by Bridgette, Melissa and Courtney, who were putting on their life vests, and Geoff grinned at Bridgette. But he was confused when she looked away, and what was stranger, Melissa was giving him a strange look. He didn't know what it meant, but he felt like he messed up on something.
DJ tapped the canoe with his foot, and he looked apprehensive.
"Yo man, do canoes flip over a lot?" DJ asked Geoff.
"No, you're thinking of kayaks." Geoff said, and DJ looked relieved, but then looked fearful when Geoff said." Unless we hit some rough water."
"Water can get… rough?" DJ asked fearfully.
"Oh yeah. Sometimes it can get totally radical out there." Geoff casually said as he put his life jacket on.
Tyler patted his teammate on the shoulder, and said," Don't worry dude, we got you."
-Confessional (DJ)-
"When I was eight, my brothers dared me to jump off the high-dive platform at the pool. I was scared, but I jumped. I wasn't gonna let them call me chicken. I landed on my butt. Sounds better than a belly flop right? Wrong. My trunks went so far up my butt, I had to go to the hospital and get them removed. They invented a new word for what I did. The wedgie flop. I've been afraid of water ever since." DJ explained.
He then thought of something," I wonder if Melissa can help me. She has before. She's pretty cool and pretty."
He then realized what he said and he then blushed a little.
"Uh…"
DJ then held onto the canoe tightly as Geoff got it into the water.
"Dude, relax, we're gonna be fine." Geoff assured him as he tossed an oar to him.
"If this canoe's a-rockin, don't come a-knockin!" Owen said as he rocked his and Heather's canoe passed them.
Heather's response to his antics was to smack him with an oar, and Owen yelped in pain.
"Ow that's smarts!"
Everyone was soon in their canoes, and Chris was on the beach, and was holding a gun in the air.
"On your marks… get set…"
BANG!
Chris shot the pistol into the air, and everyone started to paddle. A second after doing that, a hawk fell down to the ground at Chris feet, due to it being accidently shot by Chris.
"That's going to provoke some very angry emails." Chris said to the camera worriedly.
Soon both teams were paddling to the island, with some talking to past the time, Cody tried to flirt with Gwen, but she ended up using a paddle to hit his family Jewels. Izzy was regaling Leshawna of her questionable tales about her and the RCMP, which the sister didn't believe.
Meanwhile, Melissa was looking sorta green, which concerned Bridgette and Courtney.
"Okay, you weren't kidding about getting seasick." Courtney winced.
Melissa shuttered, and sad," Yeah… I'll be fine with a distraction."
Bridgette thought about it, and then her eyes widened, and cringed.
"Well, I have one, you would not believe what Mel and I found this morning, Courtney. After showering after surfing, we came back to the cabin, and I noticed something bulging out of my covers. And when I lifted it there it was."
"I gave her this awesome coin holder. I used a picture of you, me, Mel and Bridge, did some fixing. And made it look like I had my arm around her." Geoff explained, the same time as Bridgette was explaining it to Courtney.
"No! /No you didn't/That is bad." Courtney gasped in shock while DJ shook his head at what his friend did, and Tyler cringed.
"And that wasn't the worst part the back said 'I hope you think of me whenever you drop loose change into this." Bridgette said and gagged.
Melissa gulped, and said," It was bad. I've watched romantic movies with better-"
Melissa didn't' finish, due to her puking on the side of the boat, and the other two girls winced.
"You… I can't believe… dang dude. That is so bad, you need a new word for how bad that is." DJ said, and Geoff deflated at the reaction.
"See dating is like feeding a bunny, you want the bunny to come to you, so you don't make any sudden moves. 'Here bunny, bunny, bunny." DJ explained, and continued when Geoff nodded to continue."You drop a heart stamped handmade clay ball on the bunny, and the bunny's gonna run man, you feeling me?"
"So I screwed up?" Geoff asked.
"You screwed up big time dude. It's best to just let it run its course, and treat Bridgette nicely, make her laugh, get to know her, take things slow. To the point you feel like you can ask her out. Sure presents work, but nothing like what you did. Just work on it. I also think it's a good idea to ask for some pointers from Melissa. She and Bridge are close."
"Yeah, just do what I did when I got Lindsay. Chicks dig a guy who acts like himself. And also when you do cool things to impress them. But what DJ said works." Tyler said.
Geoff nodded, and said," I got you. So, is that what you're doing with Melissa, Deej? Cause you both seem to like each other."
DJ eyes widened, and he felt his face go red, and stuttered," I-I what? No… I don't like Melissa like that. We're just friends. Nothing more."
"Oh, my bad then." Geoff said and continued to paddle.
DJ looked conflicted, and looked over to Melissa's canoe. Although he had to wince when he saw her throw up on the side of the canoe.
Back with Melissa, she took a couple of breaths, and wiped her mouth. She then noticed something, and saw fog had now seemed to surround them.
"Okay, I'm not hallucinating due to me being sick right?" Melissa asked, and both Bridgette and Courtney shook their heads.
Both teams found themselves surrounded by fog, and they soon could see the silhouette of something, and they all looked fearfully when Boney Island came into view. And the most noticeable thing was that the cliff side looked like a skull.
"Well, this could mean One-Eyed Willie's treasure is here." Melissa said with gulp, both in fear and from swallowing bile. [1]
A couple of minutes later, both teams made it to shore, and Izzy was the second person to get out of her canoe, Melissa was first so she can get off of her's so she can be on land again. Izzy looked and talked excited. But Melissa and the Bass picked up their canoes, and started to go deeper into the island, with the Gophers behind them. Needless to say, the island only got more scary, due to numerous skulls on the ground.
They all had to stop, due to a tree falling down in front of them. They all looked around, and soon saw the bushes rustling, as well as glowing yellow eyes along the tree line. A moment later, something did come out of the bushes and it were…
"Monster… beavers!" Cody yelled fearfully.
Giant beavers, who had also had tusks came out of the bushes, and they looked hungry. Everyone screamed, and ran away.
-Confessional (Chris)-
A remnant of the Pleistocene Era, the Woolly Beaver is a day-active rodent indigenous to Boney Island. Oh yeah, and they're meat eaters." Chris explained.
The Gophers ended up being chased by the beavers, but stopped and left once they stopped a pond. They would've felt relieved, if it wasn't for prehistoric geese emerging from nests, and soon chased the Gophers. Luckily Cody had a loaf of bread in his pants, and tossed it at them, and they ate it.
While the Gophers were running for their lives, the Bass were dealing with a more mundane issue.
"So, which way should we go?" Geoff asked, as they looked at the split path.
Katie hummed, and said," I think we should take the left trail. That was Sadie and mines favorite direction."
Tyler nodded, and said," Yeah, we don't have time to lose. We should go left."
Melissa and Courtney raised a brow at that, and looked at each other. Both girls had been talking about strategy, and their team. They both agreed to let the others have a say, especially the ones who haven't done anything of signficance, and give them chances to prove themselves.
"So, what do you say?" Melissa asked.
"Might as well, we don't have enough time." Courtney said.
And with that, the Bass took the left trail, and walked along the path. It didn't last long, due to Melissa and Courtney stopped, due to them starting to go down. Bridgette had stopped just in time, so she didn't get sucked in.
"What the heck?!" Melissa shrieked in fear.
"Oh no, it's quicksand!" Courtney exclaimed.
-Confessional (Katie)-
Katie had a sheepish look.
"I may… have been known to give bad directions at times."
-Confessional (Tyler)-
Tyler's only response was to facepalm.
-Confessional (Chris)-
Chris was shown laughing.
"Can you believe they fell for that? I set it up, but I didn't think anyone would walk into it! That's that just great! Ahahahaha!"
"Chain link! Link arms, so you can get us out!" Courtney instructed.
She and Melissa did so, while Bridgette linked her arm with Courtney's. While the rest of the Bass did the same.
"Okay pull!" Courtney said.
They all did so, and they managed to pull both girls out.
"Are you guys alright?" DJ asked worriedly.
Melissa took a couple of breaths, due to the quicksand going to her chest, and nodded.
"Yeah… and Katie, next time leave the directions to us. That also includes you Tyler." Courtney said with a glare.
The two people in question could only nod, feeling bad.
The group got back to walking the trail, but it again didn't last long, due to Geoff tripping on something, and his knee hitting the ground hard. And this caused the party dude to hold it in pain.
"AHH! My knee! Man down! Oh, it's so unfair! Why did it have to happen now?! Why!" Geoff yelled in pain.
Melissa went over to him, and looked at it, and said," It's fine, dude. You landed on your knee wrong when you fell. From the looks of it, it's just a sprain. You'll be fine if you don't apply pressure to it for a bit. We should put you on a canoe so you won't exasperate it." She then whispered in his ear." Besides, be brave and move forward. It'll help with impressing Bridgette."
Geoff nodded, and said," If you say so dudette."
-Confessional (Geoff)-
"I didn't know if I was gonna make it. It was touch-and-go." He worriedly said, but he then smiled."But I also knew I had to push through. It was cool of Mel to help me with Bridge as well."
-Confessional (Melissa)-
"Yeah, as lame and bad as his gift was, I felt like I needed to help him with Bridgette. And also I had to stop his… no offense to you once this airs Geoff… but you were acting like a big baby when it was something minor." She said the last part apologetically.
-Confessional (Bridgette)-
"I've seen surfers get eaten by sharks before, but this? it still freaked me out!" Bridgette fearfully said.
-Confessional (DJ)-
"The man just… kept on going! Dude's got heart!" DJ said as he patted his chest in solidarity and respect.
The rest of the way to the beach, both Tyler and DJ carried Geoff on the canoes. Once they got there, they were shocked to find the Gophers were already there, and were starting to make a fir. While also waving at them in a taunting manner.
"Alright, people, let's get to work. Move!" Melissa ordered.
Heather was busy rubbing two sticks together, while Leshawna was banging two rocks together. The former got a little smoke, but nothing worked, while the latter was getting sparks, but nothing was also happening. Heather looked up in annoyance, but she gaped in shock when she saw that the Bass already had a small fire going.
"How did they do that so quickly?" Heather asked.
Duncan had a smug look, and held out his lighter, and turned it on.
Chris, who was watching from in the air from his helicopter, had a megaphone, and said," No rules against lighters! Edge, Killer Bass! Gophers, you better hurry!"
The Bass looked at their resident competition and rule follower.
Melissa shrugged, and said," Hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Let's get going!" She said, and the others nodded.
As time went on, both teams were busy gathering supplies for the fire, no one noticed Beth finding something. and with the Bass, Geoff was busy crawling over to the fire with a couple of sticks in his hand. Once he got close enough, he tossed them into there.
Melissa held back from giggling at the sight, but she subtly poked DJ's arm, and he nodded.
"Bridge, you got first aid training right. Maybe you could check Geoff's injury. He might have gangrene. Or maybe something tore."
"Yeah… I don't have proper training like you Bridge." Melissa said.
"Or Jungle Rot." Geoff added.
"Or Athlete's Foot." DJ said with shiver.
Bridge nodded, and went to check on him.
-Confessional (Melissa)-
"I talked to DJ earlier about what was going on, and he told me his side as well. And we both thought to help Geoff out."
-Confessional (DJ)-
"I owe Geoff big time. He helped me get over my fear of water. And after touching base with Melissa. We both thought he needed help from drowning with the ladies."
While Bridgette checked on Geoff, the others checked the fire.
"I don't think this is big enough. We need more material." Courtney said.
"You heard the woman, we need more wood." DJ agreed, and the others walked off to find more.
Harold looked worried, and he looked around for something to burn. He then spotted the oars, dashed to get them, and tossed them into the fire. Everyone on the Bass looked on in shock, and they soon glared at him.
-Confessional (Courtney)-
Courtney looked annoyed.
"Okay, what is with everyone messing up today! Ugh, if Melissa didn't make a case of giving everyone a chance. Then things would be different."
"How are we supposed to get home now?" Bridgette said with a glare, while Harold looked worried.
"Crap… we'll figure it out when it come to it. We gotta hustle people." Melissa said.
BOOOOOOOOM!
Before they could, they all jumped and looked fearfully at the large explosion where the Gopher fire was, which was big and roaring.
"We have our fire building winner! The Gophers!" Chris announced.
"What the hell was that!?" Melissa cried in shock.
"How and where did you learn how to do that?" Heather asked in shock.
Izzy who had soot all over her said," I sent a summer training with the reserves. Yeah I got into some trouble there and like blew up the kitchen by accident which is why the RCMP is like still all over my butt! I am so totally AWOL!"
Later both teams walked to the canoes, while the Gophers were able to move their canoes due to having their oars, the Bass weren't.
"What are we gonna do without paddles?" Bridgette asked aloud.
"You guys could get someone to swim behind the boats and push them." Izzy said, as she and Leshawna paddled near them. "I did that once for this huge 60-foot yacht. The whole crew had to flutter kick for like eight days to get to shore, and like four of us got eaten by sharks but I didn't, not me. But yeah, it was really insane. Later. Ah!"
Leshawna aggressively paddled the canoe forward, causing the girl to fall into the canoe, so she would stop talking.
"That might work!" Geoff agreed, who was being supported by Tyler.
"Yeah, all we need is the strongest guy to do it. And I think I fit the bill." Tyler boasted.
"Actually, we may need someone who is also big enough to swim behind the boats and push them, along with us." Melissa corrected, and smiled at DJ. "And DJ is going to do it."
"You can't ask him to do that. The dude can't swim!" Geoff said, who knew DJ's issue with swimming.
Melissa would've agreed with Geoff, but time was of the essence. She went over to DJ, placed a hand on his shoulder, and said," Look, I get it, you have a fear, but we all, including yourself faced and conquered our fears during the Phobia Factor challenge. So I guess it's time to overcome another fear. What do you say, Deej?"
DJ nodded, sighed, and had a serious look," Your right, I have to."
-Confessional (DJ)-
"It was all up to me. And Melissa was right, I had to conquer my fear and not let no wedgie flop was going to get in my way. I needed to swim like a Killer Bass should. And I did."
"That is one brave man." Geoff said in respect to DJ.
"Thanks man… but I'm gonna need words of encouragement as well." DJ said.
"Done… just please don't take offense if I sound like my Track coach, he's an ex-Drill Instructor." Melissa said.
"Go DJ! Go!" Melissa cheered along with the Bass.
DJ was doing very well, he was able to swim and push both the stacked canoes, and his teammates. He did so well, that he ended up passing the Gophers. And they soon crashed to shore, but they accidently flew off a large rock like ramp, they ended up flying over Chris, and crashing on the other part of the beach.
"The Bass are the winners!" Chris declared, and the Bass cheered.
Melissa hugged DJ, and said," That was awesome DJ, you made the Bass proud."
DJ blushed a little, but luckily Melissa didn't notice, and said," Thanks."
The Gophers got to shore, and Leshawna was giving Izzy a piece of her mind.
"You cost us the game! You are dead!" Leshawna yelled angrily.
She was mainly angry at the girl for giving the Bass the advice that helped them win, but she was also at her limit with the stories and antics of the crazy girl.
Izzy rolled her eyes, not feeling the least bit threatened by the sister, and said," Right. Okay, you are so lucky that my license to kill is currently expired."
Whether Leshawna believed her not, she didn't care. Her response was to pick up one of the oars threateningly. Izzy realized she was in danger, and immediately took off, with Leshawna chasing after her.
Once again, night had fallen over the island, and it was time for the Gophers to pick who they were going to send home. So far, Heather, Owen, Gwen, Cody, Lindsay and Beth had gotten their marshmallows, while Leshawna and Izzy were the only ones left. Izzy didn't look worried, while Leshawna showed a little bit of worry.
"One last marshmallow for the one safe. The one who doesn't, will walk to the Dock of Shame, and take ride on the Boat of Losers. Who's it gonna be?"
Before Chris could do his dramatic silence before giving either of the two their marshmallow, the sound of a Helicopter approached. Everyone looked up, and saw a Helicopter hover over them, and they had a searchlight on.
"Izzy! We know you are down there! You are under arrest!" A voice yelled over the loudspeaker of the Helicopter.
"You mean all that trash you were talking about was true?" Leshawna asked in surprise and disbelief.
"No. Just the RCMP part. See ya!" Izzy said, got up, and pointed at the Helicopter. YOU'LL NEVER GET ME ALIVE!"
Izzy then took off into the night, laughing manically, while the searchlight and Helicopter were in hot pursuit of her.
"Well. That wraps that up. Night everyone." Chris said.
The Gopher's were too shocked to give a proper response.
Later that night in the girl's side of the Bass cabin, a sound of something breaking was heard. And it was shown that Geoff's gift to Bridgette was broken.
"Oh shoot. Do you have any glue?" Bridgette asked.
"I wouldn't waste my time fixing that." Courtney said.
Bridgette held some of the pieces, smiled a little, and muttered," Maybe I would."
Melissa was in her bunk, and she grinned a little at what her friend said. She looked at Katie, and made a heart shape with her hand, and the girl giggled.
[1] The Goonies reference
And that's it for chapter, funny thing, I had a Lindsay moment due to when I was close to finishing the chapter I forgot Tyler was still in the game. So I had to go back through the chapter to add Tyler. Lol
Also I think I did a lot of confessionals for everyone this chapter. Maybe I should make a confessional counter at the bottom of the chapters?
Till next time, and please tell me what you all think.
