Beginning A/N: Welcome back to the story, everyone! I hope that you all enjoy this new chapter, because it's time to see our favorite bundt cake for brain Ed-Boy arriving in the world of Avatar The Last Airbender! Now, I understand that some of you have been giving suggestions for Ed to have an edge in this world, and they're all good ideas. But I've got something in mind that I can really work with. So, strap in because this is gonna get crazy.
Disclaimer: I still don't own Avatar The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, or Ed, Edd n' Eddy!
Two Guardians Converse!
Standing in a swirling mass of darkness and galaxies, two shadowed figures watched as the multiverse continued to branch off and spread like the branches of a great tree. One of these figures was a human, a man, wearing a hooded cloak that kept his face shadowed from the nose up. He was wearing a T-Shirt with Heisei era Godzilla on it, a pair of cargo pants, and sneakers, and he had an aura of near unrivaled power. His companion was currently in the form of a mighty dragon.
He was a dragon of Chinese origin with golden yellow scales, a red underbelly, green ridges that curved backwards along his head down the length of his body, dual-tone red and yellow sideburns, horns like an elk, tufts of green hair on his elbow and rear knee joints, and a tuft of red hair at the tip of his tail.
"Old friend, are you sure this is necessary?" the human man asked the dragon. "I understand that what Unalaq and Vaatu did in the original timeline was unforgivable, but to bring an otherworlder into this conflict? And one so young?"
The dragon snorted small flames from his nostrils and replied, "I don't like this any more than you, DJ, but the fact remains that the Avatar can't do this alone. She isn't Avatar Aang, and she's going to need all of the help that she can get. If there's any hope of saving their timeline, it's that young man."
The dragon was referring to how Korra was about to purify the dark spirit, Vaatu, who was released from his prison due to the manipulations of Korra's own uncle, Unalaq. However, just as she was about to purify him and end his reign of terror, Vaatu pulled a stunt that essentially restarted the timeline in order to save himself. What he failed to realize, however, was that in doing so he did not erase the original timeline but caused it to branch off at a certain point. One history where Aang was the one to stop the Firelord and end the Hundred-Year War, and another where Korra will have to do so.
To that end, to give her the help and support that she would desperately need, the dragon, who was one of the guardians of the multiverse… in fact, one of many guardians of the multiverse… saw fit to recruit help from another world entirely. DJ simply rose an eyebrow and looked at the laughing young adolescent who was falling through the portal on his way to the branched off timeline caused by Vaatu's machinations. He conceded to his friend's points, as he always has a good reason for what he does. But still, he can't help but ponder…
"Why does it have to be that particular Ed-Boy? Isn't he a little too… mentally challenged… to handle such a task as this?" DJ asked while trying to be nice about Ed's intellect.
Or rather, his lack thereof.
"I have run some tests of my own on the Ed-Boys and have come to the conclusion that the one eyebrowed Ed-Boy has the most latent potential out of the three and will absolutely flourish in this new world. Plus, let's face it, Double Dee would be too busy trying to rationalize everything with science, like he did with that cursed phone that brought nothing but bad luck and pain to Eddy." explained the dragon.
DJ just shrugged and replied with, "True.".
"And Eddy would just see this as an opportunity to form new scams to get rich quick and would just make more enemies rather than allies."
DJ had to admit that this was also true.
"Plus, I have another reason for bringing Ed in particular to this branched off timeline." said the dragon, who goes by the name of Luong.
"What?" DJ asked.
The dragon blew a cloud a smoke in front of DJ, and the young man looked inside, and his eyes started to go wide beneath his hood as he saw a vision of what would come from those two's adventures together.
"Ed? …Korra? TOGETHER?" DJ asked as the smoke vanished. "This is the plan?"
At the dragon's nod, DJ's seemingly infinite patience seemed to finally run out.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?! THIS WILL NEVER WORK!" DJ shouted in denial. "Oh, my old friend, you've been in that form for too long, your head is in the clouds."
DJ crossed his arms, but soon found himself fighting off strong winds as Luong flew circles around him. Literally.
"Okay, okay, okay, alright, OKAY!" shouted DJ. "I don't think this will work, but I trust you. I just hope you know what you are doing."
With their argument settled for the moment, the two guardians of the multiverse peered back into the merging branch of the prime timeline where Ed would soon be arriving. He had a big mission that he would need to accomplish. But he wouldn't be doing it alone.
Ed was falling. Falling very fast through this column of flashing lights to who knows where. And yet, it didn't register as a potential threat to the monobrowed Ed-Boy as he just laughed his head off as he continued to fall. After five more minutes of falling, he exited the column and continued to fall from the sky in a strange new land while a hole in the sky sealed itself closed. Ed laughed and laughed, and he laughed some more…
And then he fell headfirst on a pile of sharp rocks as tall as a large hill. Ed kept laughing as he tumbled down the sharp, pointy rocks, making cartoony sound effects with each landing before finally hitting the ground at the base of the rocks with what sounded like a 'SUBALUWA!'.
"Do it again! Uh-hah-hah-hah!" laughed Ed, who apparently had no damage at all.
If anyone was around to witness what had just happened, they would first be wondering if the poor lad had taken any serious hits to the head and immediately get him some much-needed medical treatment. They would also be dumbfounded as they would wonder who in their right mind would fall down a small mountain of rocks, many of which were sharp, tank hit after hit, and land at the bottom laughing while saying they wanted to do it again.
Good thing Ed is just that durable.
***To Be Continued…***
Ending A/N: Yeah, sorry that this chapter is shorter than I would have liked, but I'm still hammering out the finer details of what comes next in the story. And I also couldn't think of any extra dialogue that fit the direction that I was going with this chapter. But anyway, I do have some things planned for the dim lit Ed-Boy that will help him very much in this new world. One of which is the creature that I have chosen to be Ed's animal guide. So, you can look forward to that. Also, if my good buddy DJ Rodriguez is reading this, I hope you don't mind that I included you in this chapter. So, a great big shoutout to my friend! Go over to his fanfiction profile and give his stories a read, because he makes amazing content! Anyway, thank you all so much for reading, don't forget to leave a review, and I'll see you all in the next update!
