Camila woke up in a bed, confused, the last thing she remembered was falling into a pool and then nothing. She stood up and looked around it wasn't much just a tiny room with a bookshelf, window, bed, and a door she opened and looked around the hallway which had several paintings of a family almost every member having long bushy hair. She stopped at a small table where the witch she had run into sat in a chair her head underneath her arms and then looked at the human girl.
"Oh, your awake..." She said.
Camila didn't know how to respond to this after telling the witch what had happened to her sister. "Are you mad at me for telling you?"
"What? Why would I..." The witch stopped for a moment. "No, I'm not, Lilla was always the adventurous one in the family, but what happened to her is still..." The witch then let out more tears. "Is it possible to retrieve her for a proper burial?"
Camila shook her head. "They always put them somewhere no one knows..."
The witch sighed before looking at her. "Tell me what is your name?"
The girl took a while to reply. "Camila."
"No last name?"
"Never had one, that's what my friend always called me," Camila replied.
"Marilyn Clawthorne." The witch stated as she stood up. "You almost look just as old as my own daughter, Evelyn!"
A young girl with almost the same large hair as in the painting walked in, with a youthful, innocent look. "Yes, mum?" She spoke with calmness in her voice. Marilyn struggled to speak before quickly bursting into tears again as she got up and hugged her child. Camila watched and slowly the feeling got to her as well.
Nearly a week later a small memorial was carved into stone with several of Lilla's personal objects placed near it, Camila slowly placed the diary and Stachel near it but was stopped by Marylin.
"Keep them, she'd want you to have them." Her adoptive mother stated as Camila placed the satchel over her shoulder and placed the diary into it. "It looks perfect on you."
"It does?" Camila asked while holding her paliman staff in one hand.
"Yes, and I'm sure she'd love that you'd be the one using it." The family then hugged each other as well as Marylin's husband Gabriel. "It's like she's still with you."
Camila sniffed while letting out a smile. "Thank you for all of this." She turned her attention to Evelyn. "I swear that as your sister, I'll make sure you're safe no matter what."
"Really?' The young witch asked.
"Cross my heart." Camila started crossing her heart and holding Evelyn's pinkie with her own as she took out the journal and wrote in it.
A Decade Later
In a cave and abandoned mine, the crackling of fire sparked out as Camila held a lantern in one hand and her palisman in the other while exploring the area before stopping and beginning to write in the diary. "May... 21st I think? My exploration of the forgotten mines has yet to conclude in any results, though I believe if it still exists that Exlispe lake will still hold some of the titan's blood. How much I will need depends on what is left of it, and I hope that soon enough if those at home could see the beauty I have seen over the past decade, then perhaps shall perhaps they will amend their cruel barbaric ways for peace between each other and create a new age that all will see."
"And finish!" She stated adding a period in the last sentence before retracing her steps from when she had arrived and eventually found the large pool which was still full. "There you are." Quickly pulling a vial she reached into the pool quickly scooped a full tube, closed it with a cork, placed it inside the satchel, and headed back outside. The second she stepped into the bright light of day she stopped after seeing someone outside the cave looking at the view of the isles.
There stood a person in his early twenties with a long blue-sleeved coat and breeches with a pair of short boots with buckles, with their ash brown hair tied into a ponytail with a single bang over his forehead. Camila simply stood there before asking.
"May I help you?'
The man turned around and his eyes widened in disbelief. "Your alive?!'
Camila was slightly confused. "Of I am, why wouldn't I..." She stopped after noticing a symbol on the coat that looked like a crest with a golden bird spreading its wings she stopped before looking at his blue eyes and the tone he used. "Philip?!" At that point was when her mind simply broke as she stumbled before fainting on the spot.
