Miyuki was still in awe of the massive structure, even when she was already inside it. Tokyo Tower was, and always would be, Odaiba's greatest landmark because of how tall it was. In the year she had been in the district, she'd learned from school that it was based off of the Eiffel Tower in France. She had never imagined that it would have been built with an elevator system, though. That alone blew her mind and she was grateful for the architects' generosity.
This is really amazing… Miyuki thought to herself as she hugged Dracomon, trying to comfort him.
Dracomon sniffled, before turning a little to Miyuki. "Thanks for the comfort, Miyuki. I'm going to miss him." He used a clawed hand to wipe the tears away and shuffled away from his partner, glancing at the note every now and then. The small dragon wished things had been different.
Miyuki finally got to her feet again and wandered back to the pinboards, her eye wandering over the remaining note on the board they hadn't gone near yet. She discovered the note had a list of names on it that she didn't recognize.
"They must be the names of the other Chosen children…" Miyuki murmured under her breath as she studied the names to memorize them. She took the note down off of the board and went back to Hikaru to show him the list.
"Hmm?" Hikaru made an inquiring noise as Miyuki came over to him. "Ah, their names."
Miyuki observed Hikaru read over the names, watching as his eyes widened at one of them.
"No way!" He exclaimed softly, showing her the list again with one finger pointing to the topmost name. "Taichi Yagami. Literally the best soccer player in my grade. I had no idea I was in the same grade as him."
Miyuki gave him a deadpan stare. "I should know him because why? I came from Glasgow, remember? I don't know anyone famous here or of note."
Hikaru returned the deadpan look. "He's not "famous", but he is very well-liked by his friends, okay?" He smiled back at Miyuki, to reassure her he meant no sarcasm. She wasn't convinced.
"The way you talked about him made it seem like he was some big shot in the community. How the hell would I know who he is? I don't have anyone close, except for you."
Hikaru sighed and closed his eyes, lowering his head. "I know, Miyuki. I know. Hopefully one day we find the right people. In the meantime, we need to get you acquainted with more people. Would you be alright with that?" He raised his head again and looked at Miyuki.
"I don't really have a choice, do I?"
"You always have a choice, Miyuki. I just want to try and help you extend your friendship circle."
Miyuki nodded. "Okay, why not then?" She smiled thinly.
"Anyway, back to this." He tapped the list. "I didn't realize they were all trapped."
Miyuki watched her friend mull over his thoughts for a few more moments, before she noticed Plotmon X growling. She turned her focus to Hikaru's Digimon partner and was about to ask why she was growling when she caught sight of something in the shadows.
"Hikaru, we have a visitor." She said, her voice quiet. However, she was sure the Digimon already knew it had gotten their attention.
"Thanks." He murmured under his breath. Hikaru lowered his hand that held the note and faced the foe slowly. "How long have you been watching us? And who are you?" He asked the Digimon, since he couldn't determine which one it was just yet.
The Digimon finally stepped out of the shadows, revealing itself to be…
"A LadyDevimon?! How? They normally only work for the bad guys!" The words burst out of Dracomon's mouth.
The foe smirked. "My allegiance was to Alterous."
There was stunned silence. Hikaru and Miyuki glanced at each other in confusion and their partners did the same. This couldn't be possible.
But it was starting to make sense.
"Why are you still here then?" Miyuki cautiously asked. She was curious as to what LadyDevimon's reasoning was in staying behind in her deceased lord's hideout.
Miyuki watched as LadyDevimon turned her gaze on her. "I'm here guarding the tower, that is all. I see great potential in you two. So I will test the two of you."
Without warning, the fallen angel launched herself at the two friends quickly.
"Jeezus…" Hikaru swore as they leapt back to avoid the sharp clawed hands.
Dracomon and Plotmon X responded by evolving first to Coredramon Blue and Tailmon X. Then they evolved again to Wingdramon and Triceramon X.
Wingdramon released a supersonic heat blast from his mouth, trying to injure his opponent. LadyDevimon didn't halt her attack on the two one bit; she simply folded her wings around herself to deflect the flames, before unfolding them again and continuing the assault. She threw out an arm and countless bat-like creatures of darkness burst forth as energy from her palm.
Miyuki guessed their goal was to try and destroy their Digimon. But if she was testing them, why would she want to finish them off? Unless she could control the bats at will…
"What is with that look? I'm not trying to kill you. Only gauging your capabilities." LadyDevimon huffed, looking put off.
"Certainly not stopping you from trying to end us, though." Miyuki sniped back. "Even if you're not actually doing so." She exhaled sharply through her nose and rolled her shoulders. Focusing on Wingdramon, she gave him some encouragement. "You can do this."
All she got back from her partner was a grunt but it was a positive sounding one, so she was happy with that.
Meanwhile, Triceramon X was doing slightly more damage to LadyDevimon. Just when Miyuki thought they had a chance to beat LadyDevimon, she took them all off guard with her next move. She knocked them out.
Wait, she what? Miyuki took a step back, surprised at the outcome. She had thought their partners would be able to damage her a bit more than that. But apparently not. Hmm, this made things difficult.
"I wouldn't worry too much about it. They'll be back up in a minute." LadyDevimon remarked, seeing the concern on Miyuki's face at how quickly she had taken the two Perfects down.
Miyuki looked at her, not quite convinced. However, she was surprised a few moments later when Wingdramon and Triceramon X started stirring and got to their feet. "Well, okay, I guess. Guess you didn't knock them out too heavily, so that's okay."
LadyDevimon stared back at her as the two Perfects devolved to their Child stages. "Not normally one to pry, but what exactly happened to you, child?"
Miyuki hadn't been expecting the question and glanced away. "I was harassed before here."
LadyDevimon nodded slowly to herself, one hand clasping her chin thoughtfully. "Very well. I won't inquire further. I do recommend getting some help with that, though." She then lowered her hand back to her side, pausing for a moment. She was about to start speaking again when Hikaru interrupted.
"So what now?"
"Firstly, you need to get stronger. I can help you achieve Ultimate. I have an ally here; he goes by the name of Clockmon. His ability allows him to stop time, which will be exceptional with your training." LadyDevimon started explaining.
Miyuki's eye widened. "That sounds really cool."
LadyDevimon raised a finger, however. "Secondly, both of you would do well to remember I am doing this on the down low. I am not like my fellow LadyDevimon who work for evil. I was once a Darcmon."
Miyuki stared at Hikaru in surprise. She had not been expecting that.
"Why did you evolve into a dark Digimon?" Miyuki asked, cautious. "If you don't mind me asking, that is."
LadyDevimon shook her head. "Not at all. It was just the way my evolution line went. I can already reach Ultimate myself, I just won't show you until later."
"That's fine."
