The sun rose over Royal Woods as the clock hit 7 A.M. Lincoln had school today but he had no intention of going anywhere. He remained sitting on his bed with bloodshot eyes from lack of sleep. His mind was still racing with last night's events and his grandfather's words. Lincoln shook his head, wanting nothing more than to forget about his evil grandfather and Chandler.
Lincoln's gaze went to the door of his bedroom as someone began to knock. "Fuck off Luna, I'm not in the mood," Lincoln said with little power in his voice.
"It's me." the voice behind the door clearly didn't belong to Luna since it didn't sound like the person had just smoked 50 packs of cigarettes.
"Lucy?" Lincoln opened the door as one of the only sisters he liked made her way into his room. He could see that she was already out of her pajamas and fully dressed. "You're dressed early. You going somewhere?"
Lucy sat down on his bed. "What about you?" Lucy gestured to the muddy clothes Lincoln had not yet taken off. "You been crawling around in the sewers?" Lucy quipped, folding her arms and crossing her legs.
"Har har. forgive me for not taking hygiene advice from the graveyard girl." Lincoln responded as he closed the bedroom door.
"Graveyard... like the one you were at last night?" Lucy asked, causing Lincoln to freeze immediately on the spot. Slowly he turned to face her, struggling to find his voice for a moment before asking.
"Y-You knew?" Lucy shook her head. "No. But the other members of the morticians club called me and told me they found three corpses at the graveyard. Chandler and his two friends. Did you kill them? After all the talking you did about not becoming like Pop-Pop?"
"I DIDN'T MEAN TO!" Lincoln suddenly shouted, most certainly alerting the other stupid members of this household. "Keep your voice down!" Lucy hissed.
"It was an accident! And I didn't kill all three of them only Chandler! the fat fucker was watching me! he's been watching all of us!" Lincoln said without pausing to take a breath and grabbing onto his sister's shoulders.
"Okay first, get your clammy dirty ass hands off me. Second, you mean Pop-Pop? he was there?"
Lincoln removed his hands from Lucy's shoulders and gave a nod. "He said he's been watching all of us. The fuck's most definitely got trackers in the house and in our clothes or something." Lincoln sat back down on his bed. "He keeps trying to make me like him, some freak who kills people and gets off on it. Just another reason I need to get enough money to leave this hell hole." Lincoln sighed and put his head in his hands.
"So your plan is to leave. And what about us?" Lucy asked, sitting down on the floor.
"Us?"
"Your family, dumbass. I know you hate most of us and in some cases, it's justified but you'd leave Lily alone with Pop-Pop? Leni? Lisa? Me? And what about money? Now that Dad's dead, we have no stable income. This family was poor before but soon? we'll be flat broke. So the plan is for you to make enough money to run away while we all starve to death or get eaten by mom?"
Lincoln shook his head. "That won't happen." "No?" Lucy asked. "No. I won't let it-" Lucy interrupted. "You won't let it even though you're going to run. How're you going to stop it if you aren't here?"
"I don't know, Lucy! I'll figure something out! man with the plan, remember?" Lincoln took his head out of his hands to look at his sister in the... bangs.
Lucy got up to her feet with a sigh. "Whatever, Lincoln. But whether you like it or not, you've got a choice to make. Either you save yourself and live knowing you left your family to suffer or you stay and live with the stress of being in constant danger while doing your best to protect us. Someone needs to keep Lily, Lisa, the twins, and Leni safe." With that, Lucy left the room leaving Lincoln sitting on his bed, alone.
