Azure Angel
Jumping behind a boulder, I barely escape the flying debris from the blast. My opponent this time, unlike other has exceptional sword skills. Mine were lacking since I relied heavily on my magic. My sword futile, I decided upon an uncommon spell. A moment passed, I leaped to face my opponent. Fire filled my ruby red eyes, a final gaze at my enemy, azure eyes, no it can't be. In my moment of hesitation, his sword found it target, silver sliced the air. I felt my body fly through the air and land with a hard thud on the ground. Arrows of pain shot my every limb. Faintly, I heard my friends calling my name. Through blurred vision, I focus my eyes to the azure sky. Slowly, I lift my hand to my chest, a deep diagonal ran across. My chest as if a heavy stone was placed upon it. Each breath I found harder while the crimson liquid escaped my body. The ground beneath turned red. My blood I felt soaks through my clothes. The red pool steadily grew larger. My breathing became shallow and ragged with each breath. Darkness filled the corners of my eyes. I quickly realized I was in a losing battle with my life. T let it end this way without a struggle is a sin. A never warming chill crept through my body. My blood became ice. Tears gently flow down my cheeks mixing with blood. Clouded vision turns slowly to blackness. My heartbeat grows distant. With what little strength I have left, I raise my other hand to the man with azure eyes. "I love you." I whisper softly with the last of my strength. He dropped his blood ladened sword as if he heard me. A step at a time, he approached. His hand reached out to mine. No longer am I able to withstand the unfathomable pain, closing my eyes I slip into the darkness pulling at my soul. My hand falls to the ground while the other slips from my chest. I don't hear my name being yelled, crying for me to return, to stay. Nor my body being lifted into strong arms. From above, I watch streams of tears fall from their eyes. The man with azure eyes cradles my lifeless form. His tears combine with my blood as he cries hard into my crimson chest. He realizes what he has done. A comforting hand I place on his shoulder, "It all right," I tell him, "you didn't mean to." Steadily he rose to his feet, carrying my still body; he walks off into the horizon. His heart filled with despair. For he's lost the one thing he holds dear. From here on, I'll your guardian angel.
