"Niece." Maxwell greeted both his niece who's just teleported herself to their main base. The sun is already setting, tucked beyond the horizon.
It's been over two weeks since all survivors got transported here. Not only the survivors but even Charlie, her Shadows, and his own creations also got transported here. Thankfully, Charlie is open to some sort of truce while they're all in this new world. And for the first time, he and the survivors could be in the dark without being afraid of attack from Charlie's Shadow.
"Uncle," Wendy replied, tucking away her Telelocator Staff and Moggle into her backpack. Abigail is bobbing alongside her. Instead of her usual yellow flower, Abigail's flower is changed to the blue flower he has never seen before, probably native to this world.
"How the state of those foolish avians? And where are Knight, Ran, and Walter? Isn't they with you?" He asked his niece, handing her some of his yellowberries. He is quite grateful for having a different selection of new fruits, vegetables, and meat in this new world, which is named New Constant(name subject to change) by Wilson. Also, whatever or whoever bringing them here has toned down the aggressiveness and hostility of the creatures from the Constant that got brought here with them. Some of them could even be tamed now!
"90% of them are dead by our fighters and creatures of the Constant, though most of them are dead because of Charlie's Shadow. 8% of them is hunkering down at our other bases, with the remaining 2% scattered around." She reported. Chewing the given berries, she continued. "Ran and Knight goes with uncle Warly's team to provide close-quarter combat capability since both Wolfgang and Wigfrid just died earlier this evening. And Walter goes with Wilson's team to help move the scrap and technologies from the avians."
"Is this percentage accurate?"
"Yes. Yuriko herself give it to me."
"I see. Speaking of teams, how about our losses?"
Taking out the note-filled papyrus from her backpack, she read the report. "Hm. Most of our close-range fighters died in battle because of the avian's pellet or their orange blades. But most curiously, Shepard said the death is not caused by the impact of the pellet unless the strike is direct to the head. But rather, from the bleeding. On that note, Yuriko's shield never got penetrated by the pellets, not even once."
"Oh. Is that so? Interesting..." Chuckling to himself, he asked about the form of technologies that others have observed from the avian.
"From account from Wheeler, Winona, Shepard, and Louise's team, they displayed no use of a such magic item like us. No avian use revive item for their fallen comrade, and Charlie also said she doesn't sense an ounce of Soul, Void, Lunar, Nightmare, or other types of magic on them. Same for the magic-based tool. They didn't even pick up the Life Amulet I dropped, choosing to ignore the amulet or tossing it aside instead."
"This means they either don't use such items, or they don't have any knowledge about magic in their culture, both are very beneficial to ourselves."
"However, Wurt say some of the avians have displayed abilities to manipulate some blue flare to telekinetically move object and item around. At first, Yuriko thought that was their magic." She stopped before continuing. "But she can redirect and reflect the flare, so that blue flare isn't magic, but some kind of science, as Wilson put it."
"What other effect of this flare? Aside from telekinesis?"
"Yuriko said when she got subjected to this flare attack for the first time, she says her body mass suddenly dropped, and then she got flung away by one of the avians."
Ah. These avians must be quite capable then if they could fling Yuriko, their tank. He absorbed the information given in silence. He decided on the course of action right away. "Alright. I will tell Katarina, Wilba, Wormwood, Regice, and Wanda to immediately start making some revive items and effigies after this." Grabbing his own Telelocator staff from the nearby chest, he continues. "Wendy, you will teleport to other groups and tell everyone to regroup on our Lunar base."
"How about Wilson's team? He going crazy over some of the technology used by the avians, died multiple times too.." Taking out her own staff, she asked.
Sighing, he answered. "Yes, including Wilson." A beat. "Winona too."
