Walking Dead: Building Your Own Hope
Chapter 5 of my Walking Dead story, enjoy.
Reviews
Boris Yeltsin: Thanks and yes, things are slow, but getting better.
Parent12D: Thanks, yeah, a lot to cover. Well, yes, she clearly wants to try and return to normal. Yes luckily she has others to help her. Well, it's more like he's confused than anything else and neither he nor Carl know about each other. Yup, indeed but well, Rick is clearly becoming obsessive, to the point he's destroying himself. Glad you liked it all though :)
Wolfgirl2013: Thanks glad you liked them. Yeah :/
Now onto the story.

Season 1: Episode 5
Making her way home, Laurel sighed as she straightened the skirt of black mid-thigh short sleeved dress which she paired with fishnet stockings and short boots. As she did so, she thought about what had happened earlier that day.
'Hmmm, so maybe I was too forward, but really...Jamie and I have been friends for so long, has nothing really grown beyond that since then?' She wondered to herself. 'I just hoped he...I mean, even if just as friends, surely it'd be better to go to Homecoming together, rather than being all by ourselves.'
Shaking her head sadly as she considered this, she made her way around the corner, she was on her street now, almost home. She'd barely gone down the street when suddenly she felt a sting in her neck and almost instantly, despite her efforts to cry out, she stumbled, her voice barely able to make a noise. Her vision blurred and she was on her knees.
"There, there...just let it do its work." A voice said.
She tried to move, to get up, to get away. But it was no good and she couldn't hear anything else, there was nobody else around to see this. She felt hands take hold of her and drag her somewhere as she blacked out.

The atmosphere was frantic, when Laurel was several hours late coming home, her parents Richard and Erica reported her disappearance to the police. In light of the recent happening with Beth, the police acted at once and began searching the whole town for her. They weren't alone either, for Laurel's friends were also involved in the search.
"I can't believe this." Jamie remarked, eyes wide in shock. "I never thought-"
Olivia and Melanie, two of Laurel's sisters, older and younger respectively, were nearby and shared sympathy with him.
"We just don't understand it either." Olivia explained. "She couldn't just disappear so something happened."
Jamie grimaced. "Um, think it's got anything to do with what happened to Beth?"
Brian who was nearby too spoke up. "That's what the police think...and they're not the only one."
They looked over and noticed the parents and the oldest sister Rachel, talking with two officers, looking frantic.
"C'mon, we need to help them, we need to search." Melanie said.
Jamie nodded and so they joined the others and began looking around for anything that would help hold some kind of clue. Also searched together, Andrew, Marissa and Carl were looking around and concerned.
"This doesn't make sense...it's just like what happened with Beth." Carl mused.
Marissa shuddered. "It's terrifying, if people like Beth and Laurel can be taken...no one is safe."
Andrew bit his lip. "We, we need to try and figure this out. Before it gets worse or someone else gets taken."
They all shared a worried look at that.

Groggily waking up, Laurel tried to make sense of her surroundings, but she couldn't, her vision cleared but the room, wherever it was, was too bright. Everything around her was white, her eyes hurt, she tried to move only to find she couldn't. She was tightly bound and her efforts to try and pull herself free were futile. The only concession she felt was that the skirt of her dress, or indeed any of her clothes, had not been tampered with.
"Wha-" She mumbled, her voice slurred and still groggy.
Then that voice again. "Ah, awake now Laurel, good."
She flinched at that, her captor, the one who was responsible for this, but who was he, where was she and how did this all happen. No matter how hard she tried, her mind felt foggy and she felt unable to even begin to do so.
"Well, now we can begin." The owner of the voice continued.
Confused as to what he meant, Laurel tugged at her bonds again when she then heard the click of a camera, something which made her tense. It took a while for her brain to catch up, in which time more pictures were taken when she finally pieced it together.
'This is...what happened to Beth.'
She tried to say something, to turn away, but her body just wouldn't respond as yet another picture was taken.

Time was wearing on and Rick was on edge, he looked over at where Lori and Carl were talking to Laurel's family.
"I know it's not easy Rick, but we can't search indefinitely." Shane said next to him.
Rick tensed at that and sighed. "I know, but...this is just…"
Shane gently touched his friend's shoulder. "It's crazy, that this guy would strike twice. I know you're eager to catch this guy, for Beth's sake and to save Laurel. But we...we need rest, leave it to the second team who are gonna start soon. We'll have people searching throughout the night."
"I just hope it's enough Shane." Rick said at last.
He walked over to join his family. Meanwhile the rest of the friend group had gathered for the same reason.
"I feel bad doing this." Marissa admitted. "But mom and dad are right, we need rest."
She looked over her shoulder as she said that, over to Greg and Margaret Garland, her parents who were watching with sympathy and concern.
"Yeah, I guess that's true." Jamie admitted.
Andrew nodded. "We'll try again tomorrow, we'll find her, we have to."
They agreed and so, with a heavy heart they went their separate ways and left the search to the secondary team.

Tugging at her tape bonds, Laurel whimpered as another photograph was taken. Finally, it stopped, but before she do anything else she felt a shadow cover her, the figure was leaning over her and suddenly, before she could say anything, the figure covered her mouth with more tape and then she felt the sting in her neck again and she soon blacked out.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
