Chapter 2: Scaring a prince

6 months later...

"Hey, Hitomi!"

Ren was shouting as he entered the well hidden house deep in the forest far away from

Zaibach. He was still wondering about how they managed not to be caught by the guards but

no one knew that Hitomi was the Emporer's daughter. It was good that no one had ever seen

her before – so nobody could recognise her. Well, maybe a rich nobleman from Zaibach who

had met her before but the chance of meeting someone like this was up to zero.

Hitomi looked up, letting her sword sink as she smiled at him. She kept training but he knew

that she had learned how to use a sword fast. She was even better than himself by now – well,

she tried to fullfill her own wishes and using a sword better than a man was one of them.

He was amazed at how good she actually was. Never were he, Aki nor Jean thinking that a

princess would be able to HOLD a swort but she teached them better.

He grinned but his smile faded as he saw what she had done to herself.

"What did you do?!"

He pointed at her blonde hair that was lying on the ground. Her hair was now short – it didn't

even reach her shoulders.

She didn't seem to understand about what he was talking so she followed his gaze and

understood.

"Oh, you mean my hair. I cut it... it was always in the way when I was training and when

we were doing other things, too."

He knew what she meant. When she changed her look she could not so easy be recognised

as the one she was. The last 6 months had changed her, really. She didn't even look back at

the green dress that she had been wearing the night she had been kidnapped. Now, she was

wearing green pants, a green shirt and light brown leather boots that were reaching her knees.

It was fitting her perfectly, matching her green eyes. When he was honest, he would say she

looked like she had never lived anywhere else. A beauty...

"OK, I give in. It's your hair. But you didn't have to cut it this short."

She shook her head. "I want it this way and you're not telling me to do it otherwise."

"Well, I came here to ask if you want to go with us to Fanelia."

The hint of a smile crossed his face as he saw her eyes shining brightly. This was the first

time she would go to a city after 6 months.

"Of course I'm coming with you. But what are we going to do in Fanelia?"

"Oh, the king of Fanelia is going to visit you father in Zaibach because they want to talk

about how to get all the ones out of their countries who are talking against their politics."

"Ouch!", Hitomi said, narrowing her eyes. That didn't sound good. That sounded really

bad. When she was at the castle she had never been interested in politics. But when she had

heard about what her father was doing she had been shocked. It was as if he wanted to kill

everyone who didn't agree with his opinion.

"And what are we going to do?", she asked, trying to look innocently.

"We aren't enough people to do something that would change anything but we can make them

remember that we are here and we are not as helpless as they may think. What about

getting into the caslte, taking something out just like we did at your home?"

"Yeah, but we won't take anyone with us time, will we?"

"Oh, NO! I don't think so! We were lucky to find you but we don't think we will take

people with us again. Kidnapping the children of kings would be not the kind of thing we

want to do."

"We won't harm anyone, will we?"

She was still distrustful but she let go of the breath she didn't know she had been holding

back.

"We'll just scare them a little bit – there's nothing wrong with that."

***

Hitomi was nervous. This was the first time she would actually do her part in a job and a really big part, too! Since Aki broke his leg about two weeks ago and Hayao kept his tradition of appearing and disappearing anytime soon, Ren and Hitomi were the only ones left to do this job.

They would sneak into the castle and while Ren was standing outside, staying with the horses, she would try to find someone to wake him up in the middle of the night and scaring him so he or she would wet his pants. That would surely remind them that there were still rebels out there, waiting for their chances.

She smiled nervously and looked up at the moon. The light coming from this planet far away looked like liquid silver and made her look paler than she was. Her dark green coat was reaching her boots but she didn't mind. Once more she would enter a castle – not the one she had been living in for years but the one of Fanelia, where the king and his sons lived. She didn't know much about them – to be honest, everything she knew was what Ren had told her.

The youngest one of the two princes was named Van and Hitomi knew that she was standing right under his window. His brother Folken went with his father to Zaibach so the only royal left was Van and that made him become their target. She sighed and looke once more in the direction she knew Ren was standing. He was smiling and she started to climb the wall that should protect the caslte. She was surprised at how easily she could reach the top of it without any effort. Strange, she had felt safe back there, in her father's castle until Ren and his friends had kidnapped her.

She smiled because of this thought. She was thankful for what they did; otherwise, she would be Allen's wife by now...

"Yuck!", she whispered and looked into the big window in front of her nose.

"Concentrate on what you are doing, Hitomi! If you fall down you'll surely have some broken bones to take care of.", she reminded herself, staring at the room she was going to enter.

Without making any noise she placed one feet on the window-sill, then the other one. It was dark inside but she heard the soft snoring of a person and saw the shadow of something that could be nothing but a huge bed.

She crossed the room, slowly, trying to make no sound at all. Her heart was beating fast. Suddenly she stood next to the bed and looked down at the mess of black hair on a pillow. Hitomi couldn't see his face but that wasn't important – as long as he didn't wake up right now; she swallowed and then stopped in her movings.

The room's door opend and some light entered the room; before she could think she let herself fall down, dropped next to the bed and tried to hide in the shadow. When the someone who was at the door wouldn't cme near she could be able to get out of this without any harm. An old man's voice mumbled something that Hitomi couldn't understand and then the sound of a closing door made her breath in softly.

"Let's do this quickly.", she thought and wanted to stand up but as she struggled to her feet she felt someone catching her wrist. She went pale and wished for a short moment that this was just a dream and she would wake up anytime soon in her bed with Ren making jokes about her being so frightened.

She turned her head slowly towards the bed and looked at the young prince of Fanelia.
