[Issei Hyoudou.]

*BEEP!*

"Fuck… Saji said he's going to take a bit to get here…" He turned to Freed's unconscious body before turning to the sword— no lightsaber in his hand.

It was cool as fuck. Not that he'd admit it.

"Asia, let's go, we can meet him sooner if we move in their direction." He said, waving his hands frantically in order to initiate sign language…

Asia tilted her head and nodded.

It worked, somehow and they began to walk towards Kuoh Academy.

"Kch… you fucking bra—" Freed's ramblings were cut short by a swift kick to his head courtesy of Issei.

Asia recoiled at that but tried to get closer in order to heal him.

"I didn't kick him that hard. You don't need to heal him." That was a lie, he had thrown Freed off of his shoulder and kicked him in mid air while still carrying Kashin on his back.

Issei smiled at her, she blushed, and then they began to walk towards Kuoh again.

As they walked Issei made small 'talk' using the —not so good— translator on his phone.

He didn't know half of the things it spewed out but he made sense of the nonsense anyways.

Asia tells him about her time in Italy, her time traveling place to place —Issei couldn't figure out how she got the money for that— after getting kicked out for her church, that time she travelled with a green haired man with one arm —Issei grumbled something about doughnuts— and her eventual recruitment with the fallen angels.

She told him of her whole story.

Issei told her of his own life, Kashin, the doughnut shop she would have loved that closed two years ago, his school, his friends, his family…

"Family…" Asia's tone was downcast, a far cry from her excited and happy voice a few moments ago.

"Ah…" Right… she didn't have a family. Dumb Issei. He chided himself, remembering the fact that she was raised an orphan.

"Sorry." He apologized as she shook her head and began to say something to the phone in order for Issei to understand.

"[It's fine Issei.]" The translator… tranadlsted."[I would love to hear more about your family and friends! Can you tell me more about your school? Please?]"

She smiled softly at him and he began to tell his own story.

They talked as they walked, exchanging stories of their lives, Asia's travels revealed a lot about her, she could actually cook, she often took care of plants and that she worked at a doughnut shop one time were the points Issei could understand.

This went on for ten minutes until they realised they still hadn't met Saji or had come close to Kuoh.

The path they had been taking would have let them reach Kuoh in thirteen minutes but the fact that they still weren't seeing the school confused them.

Freed waking up at random and Issei having to kick him again and again slowed them down by a few seconds but that didn't explain why they weren't seeing the school…

Or the fact that… there… were no… people…

"Tch. Freed got beaten by brats?"

"Donasheek why the hell didn't we ambush them earlier."

"Warrior's pride."

"Well fuck that."

"HEY NO—"

*PHYNG!*

Issei tackled Asia to the ground and softly threw Kashin onto the ground and kicked Freed in the opposite direction as a spear made of light impaled the ground where he once stood.

The sky was red. Why didn't they notice that?

"Tch missed—"

*Srrk!*

"—Kidding~" He heard the voice say as another spear of light skewed through the shoulder of his left arm, making him bite down at his lip to not scream out in pain.

"Stay… close." Issei bit out, pulling the hilt of Freed's sword out of his pocket and taking a —Insultingly bad— sword stance.

*Phyuuuu—*

Sound. Left. Swing.

*—Kcing!*

Issei cursed. There's two of them. I can't take them both.

His extended right hand swung a sideways arc and blocked another light spear that would have pierced his eyes without looking, but…

It fucking hurts! He had never used a sword before —desks don't count— and didn't know the proper way to swing it so though his swings were harsh and fast, they strained his muscles.

The sword was also made of light, but it was heavy as shit!

He also had an injury to his left shoulder, which limited his movement.

To be frank… he was fucked.

Spear. Lef—

He rolled his shoulder to the side.

A light spear whizzed past him.

Spear. Fron—

*Swing! Phymmm!*

IT STILL FUCKING HURT DAMNIT—

Huh?

He narrowed his eyes at the floating figure of a blonde, short, twin tailed girl and…

"What the fuck is tha—"

*Phhhyyyyyyuuuuu—*

Swing. Left.

*Clnk!*

There was a… thing… indescribable… peering into my gaz—

Step. Back.

I took a step back.

*CRASH!!*

A ginormous, bloodied, veiny, boney… amalgamated claw slashed down infront of me. Inches away from my face.

My breath stopped for a moment.

"ASIA RUN!"

But I had to make sure they would make it out. I couldn't let them die here. Not because of me.

[Heh.]

I swung the heavy sword at the… thing.

*Phymmmm—*

Spear. Right.

[Again, boy.]

*Srrk!*

I screamed.

I swung again.

The claw was unfazed, even though the sword made of light passed through it.

*Srrk!*

[More intent. More willpower.]

I screamed.

I thrusted.

This time, the beast behind the claw screamed with me.

Yet…

*TWHCK!*

"AGGGHHH!!"

…I wasn't strong enough to slash it off. Even after I slashed down and split it in two as the claw healed itself within a second and threw me away from it.

My arm…

It hurt like hell. The right one.

I can't feel the left one anymore.

Is it broken? Snapped off? Slashed off by those light spears I ignored in order to split the claw.

Why did I do that anyway… I could have just run…

[But now you can't.]

Yeah… voice in my head… I can't…

[But if you could?]

I would fight on until Saji made his lazy ass here and if I could… live.

[... acceptable. I don't want my host to die this fast.]

Heh—?

[BOOST!]

[Your will to protect is greater than my other host's your age.]

Wait hold on— what's going on—

[And you won… what did you humans call it…? Ah yes.]

Red lizardlike scales slowly climbed up my hand, flowing up from my fingertips.

[The genetic lottery.]

The backhand of of right hand carved itself in as the scales marched up and covered my entire hand, beginning to morph once again as a green gem manifested in the carved space where a chunk of my hand once was.

[Huh? That's… new. The gauntlets are not supposed to literally become your hand.]

The scales shaped and morphed, getting bulkier near my knuckles and denser near my upper hand as it was finally formed into a deep red demi-gauntlet covered in scales that shaped my knuckles into spiked molds that I knew could tear apart metal with a light green gem in the middle of it.

The gem glowed.

[BOOST!]

"AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!"

Power. Flooded my body.

[Huh. A subspecies. That's new. Go wild kiddo.]

I felt the blood on my face slowly retreat into my body, the pain in my right arm slowly faded away and my left arm stopped bleeding —it wasn't sliced off, just skewered in the nerves— as the green glow faded from the gem.

[...what…]

The sword in my right hand felt lighter, like a newspaper in my hands.

A deadly lightsaber version of a newspaper mind you.

Thanks voice in my head.

[You're not going to be saying that in two minutes.]

Two minutes?

I took a breath.

That's enough for Asia to escape.

Then I ran.

I was not fast enough to break the sound barrier, nor fast enough to not be undetectable from the claw monster's 'sight'...

But I'm not going to be fighting it.

I put the deactivated light sword in my pocket.

"HYAAAAAAA!"

*Bam!*

"Ack—"

Well that uppercut did the job.

I was going to be beating the living shit out of the girl beside her, maybe break her legs.

I glanced at my non-functional left arm.

Yeah. Definitely breaking her legs.

"OOOOOOOHHHHHHGGGGGG!!" I swung my right arm again, hitting her ribs and breaking them apart as blood spewed from her mouth.

Then I grabbed at her leg—

Spear. Lef—

I spun around with her body, defending myself with it.

Two spears of light wavered inches away from her torso.

"S-SHI—"

I let go of her body.

*CRACK!*

My body crouched and jumped into the air while spinning around clockwise, chambering my leg close to my torso and—

*BAM!*

—kicking.

Her dress was torn to shreds as her spine and wings bent like a coiling snake before she was launched away from my foot and into the… disappearing… light… spears…

Oh. They can control that.

STEP. FORWARD.

My instincts flared, making me step forward.

The claw fell behind me, leaving a giant, bleeding slash on my back.

I wasn't fast enoug—

My right hand grabbed a light spear launched at my head, inches away from its target.

[Heh. Granted.]

[BOOST!]

My wounds healed —slightly— and I began to rise from my kneeling position.

I breathed in and took the light sword out of my pocket and let it take form.

The light sword glowed bright… red?

[... subspecies are weird.]

Am I a sith now voice in my head? Or should I call you Darth Voice?

[Keh. You'll know my name soon enough. Focus on your battle for now.]

Yeah. I gripped down at the sword. But I still need more power.

[BOOST!]

I could feel the fingers of my left hand.

[EXPLOSION!]

Silence lingered in my mind for a couple of moment's as a sudden rush of power filled my entire body. Greater than the ones I received a couple moments prior, but unlike them this was more…

[Stronger? This was the two minute thing I was talking about. You now have only two minutes before BURST wears off and you return to your injured body. Exhausted beyond belief.]

[You need to finish this fast boy. Less you want to end up like my last host.]

Yeah.

I crouched down and redied my sword into a wide arc.

Fast.

I launched off with a sudden burst of speed.

Air pushed everything behind me into a wreaked pile of dirt and concrete as everyone paused at my disappearance.

Draw.

The claw split in two.

A blur of red passed right through its midsection.

I appeared mere moments after, with my right arm fully swung in a giant arc, sweat slowly trickling down my face as I hoped that that would have stopped the thing from moving.

"FUCKING KILL HIM RAYNARE!"

Wha—

A sharp object pierced my back, barely missing my spine as I spun and swung my sword at… it…

I was faced with…

What.

A monster, covered in thousands upon thousands of gnawing teeth littered all throughout its body that opened and closed randomly making its body unsteady even as blood poured out of its now amputated arm that was bigger than its own, tall, womanlike body covered with muscles, tissue and Chunk's of human and animal meat that tried to replicate a human woman's body in a grotesque display of inhumanity.

The.

It's left arm, composed of several spines, taken from animals I didn't even know existed, all freely squirming and slithering in the air with skills lining the entire length of the arm with several gigantic yet thin needles purtruding out if it like a boney, veiny voodoo doll.

It's legs were almost non visible as bald, skinned, heads that were locked into a perpetual state of pure agony lined it's torso as veins, red, blue and purple dropped from it like curtains that covered the two beast like legs which lay underneath all its coverings.

Fuck.

Then it's face. It's face was… normal? The thing had Raynare's face mounted onto it, her mouth was dangling open as if her jaw had been pulled out from her face and her eyes were…

Two red 'X' shaped structures replaced what used to be Raynare's eyes, I noticed as I stared up at her face.

Blood. Blood. Blood.

'IT HURTS! IT HURTS!'

'PLEASE! I BEG YOU STOP— N–NO! NOT THE— AAAGGGGHHH!!!'

'NOT MY SON— NO! NOOOOO!!!'

'Doctor…? Why does everything hurt…?'

'SAVE ME— SOMEONE PLEASE!!!—'

'S—STAY AWAY! NO! D—DON'T COM— AAAGGHHH!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUAUAUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHGHHGHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGG-—'

'My… eyes… I can feel… them…'

A wide open maw of thousands of teeth snapped me out of my daze.

I felt my right hand get lighter.

My face was inches away from all of the mismatched teeth that comprised it's body, I was barely breathing as that voices faded away from my thoughts.

A hand reached out from inside the maw.

"Oh~ Issei~"

I recognised that voi—

*Swsh!*

My arm swung along with the sword, slicing several spines that would have speared me through my heart otherwise as I snapped away from the ghastly daze and jumped away from the… thing.

[Heavy breaths. Even I don't know what just happened.]

Illusions? No those voices… they were real. No matter how illusionary I wanted them to be, they were real.

No illusion could fake the screams of pure helplessness, weakness and… fear that had passed through my ears. I chose to believe in that.

Those screams… and the final words—

"CATCH THIS!"

I could dwell on them later.

I brought up my right hand infront of my face in anticipation of a spear made of light to come at my face.

It never did.

"YA' THINK I'LL DO THAT AGAIN!? RAYNARE!"

But a gigantic mass of flesh and blood did.

I couldn't catch it, or push it back due to its sheer weight in such a thin and tall body, the spines digging into my left arm also hindered my performance as they dug in further and further while I failed to push back 'Raynare's' body away from my ar—

*Srk!* *Srk!*

Two spears of light dug into my knee.

I bent over and howled in pain, doubling down even more as the spines finally pierced through my left shoulder, making me unable to hold 'Raynare' back any longer.

Her body crashed into mine, breaking some of my ribs and almost pulling my left arm apart as her spines refused to let go of it,

Only for a moment.

"AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!"

[RESET!]

*Snap!*

*RRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPP!!!*

Two minutes were up.

*STAB!*

"GYAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAH!! TAKE THAT!"

When did I drop the light sword?

*Srrk!*

"THAT'S FOR KICKING THE SHIT OUT OF ME!"
