What's Your Sign?

You use them without asking, & you're toast! And I'm not joking when I say that.

So, the only rules left are:

Madame Elizabella Ratburn woke up in her hammock in her gypsy wagon.

Feeling the sun's golden rays upon her dark brown fur, she stretched her arms, smacked her lips, & got up to make breakfast.

Making her morning meal wasn't much of a hassle. Madame Ratburn just made herself a cup of herbal tea & cheese muffins.

As Madame Ratburn sipped her tea & nibbled her muffins, her wagon door slammed open.

Then, staggering into the gypsy wagon, entered a small, pudgy mouse with brown fur. He wore a big blue jacket, a small turquoise shirt, blue trousers, a brown bowler, & a pair of shiny black shoes.

And his name was…Manchester Maurice.

He worked for Mouses Fiennes, the world's greatest criminal mind.

But today, he was on holiday.

Manchester Maurice was at Madame Ratburn's house for a reason. He had a very nasty prank to pull.

And he knew what a frigid loner Madame Ratburn was.

Maurice gasped, & said in mock surprise, "Oh, my goodness! Madame Ratburn, did you hear the news?"

Madame Ratburn turned around, saw Maurice, & said, "Not really…why?"

Manchester Maurice said in fake fear, "The Queen just made a proclamation! She said that if you don't find a husband & get married soon, the Queen herself will kick you out of the country!"

Madame Ratburn immediately spit out her tea, & said fearfully, "Oh, my gods! The planets must be misaligned!"

Manchester Maurice nodded, & pretended to agree, "They sure must be!"

Madame Ratburn rushed out of the caravan, & said, "I better hurry, & find a suitable husband quick!"

As soon as Madame Ratburn was gone & out of earshot, Maurice chuckled to himself, & said proudly, "Boy, did she fall for it! Now she's gonna go on a wild goose chase! Because nobody likes Gypsies & fortune tellers!"

The only big question on Maurice's mind was, When will Gypsies EVER learn?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Madame Ratburn is a Gypsy fortune teller.

Manchester Maurice is a spoof of Ethel M. Grimes' fanfic character, Cheapside Chauncey.

If you think my GMD saga's getting twisted around, don't worry, because the Baker Street Family doesn't exist yet, Ratigan & Fidget aren't reformed, & Olivia's mother is still alive.

The Olivia's-mother-being-dead thing is explained in my fanfic "Ratigan's Story" (For those of you who haven't read it, check it out! It's really great!).

Hope you like the story so far!
