Yugi pressed closer to the window in the door, and felt his heart stop beating. It were as if each part of his mind were screaming at once yet shutting down at the same time. All he could think about was the glowing mass of warriors that had dragged Gneo down,a dn now were figthign like some school of piranhas.
And now, a group had broken off, and were moving at them. He jumped back, pulling Mai away from the door as it shuddered, as if hit with a wave. Quickly, Seto, Guy, Yami and Tristan all rushed forward to hold the door shut.
"Well, they can't get in the door." Seto said. "And they've stopped!"
Mokuba pointed at the wall. "No, they just decided to attack the wall." Sure enough, dnets began to form all around them.
Joey sat down. "What do we now?"
Yami turned to Dr. Kevin. "Can you shift us out of here?"
The good doctor frowned. "I could do a few of you...but I doubt I could save you all. And even if I do...I will die in the process. I can only warp so much with me, and if I do it too much....besides, if I lose it during a warp, I will cause whoever went with me to die."
Raia leaned against the telescope. "I guess we get ready to meet our maker."
Yami shook his head. "I can't believe we are going to die like this."
Tristan moved from the door, and with a frown back handed Yami, sending him to the ground. Everyone looked at him as he rubbed his wrist. "You stood against dark forces that would make most of us shake with fear...that MADE most of us shake with fear." He looked at Raia. "You and Seto reunited after all those years of being apart because of a madman." He turned to Mai and Joey. "You two have fought in duels that would claim the lives of anyone else, yet are standing here..." He frowned. "And this is the thing that kills us?"
Tea shook her head. "This is different."
"Your right....instead of us fighting, it is Geno, a man that risked his ass trying to every everyone...and we are standing in here, waiting for him to die!" He stared them all down with disgust. "Well, I for one am not going to sit and wait for the gods to decide my fate!"
Seto looked at Tristan, almost amused at this outburst. "And what do you plan to do? Go out there and save him yourself?"
Tristan shook his head as he took a gun from Dr. Kevin's briefcase. "No...but if Geno is to die, I will at least give him an escort worth talking about. I will send as many of them with him...with us, as I can."
"You've lost it." Joey replied. "1 agaisnt a milliona ren't good odds."
"Then let's make it two." Serneity said, pulling out the gun she ahd been given earlier.
"Make that three." Dr. Kevin replied, moving to the door. "I can't warp us out, but I can still take enough of them out." He was stopped by Guy's hand on his shoulder.
"No....not just three." He turned to them all. "This is the day...when mankind must fight."
Kaikou nodded. "Our father has saved us all...let us save him."
Gala nodded as she put a hand on Yami's shoulder. "If we are doomed anyway, it's can't hurt to try?"
Yami looked at him, licked his lips, and then stood up. "We'll need weapons."
Gala smiled. "That I can cover." She focused on her mage training, and slowly, swords began to appear. She repressed the urge to curse, mad she had never gotten around to learning how to summon guns or tanks. No, she had to have learned how to make staffs and swords.
Most picked up staff, not trusting themselves not to lob off a hand or an leg of a friend in a wild swing. Infact, only Raia and Seto took up swords. Each nodded, and threw off their coats, rolled up their sleeves to expose their tattoos.
Guy pulled his guns out, and his wings flapped, sending him into the air, hovering above them. "Now, let's test these things out."
Tristan nodded. "This is it."
Everyone made a silent nod, ready for this. None would stay behind to be protected, none would not take up a weapon. This was a battle each would fight.
Dr. Kevin took the main point, right in front of the door. "The history of man was not written in tears and sadness, but in moments of bravery and courage." He turned to the group. "Let them see a new day come: a day of death, a day of battle, a day the worlds shall speak of. If we are to die, let us give them such an end that they shall speak of it till the end of days!" He closed his eyes. "May this be the day, that mankind takes back it fate."
Serenity and Tristan glanced at each other, and through open the doors.
Isis turned at the sound, and the army of light stopped. From the building came a vampire...no...one of the vampires. He leapt into a group, his cane spinning. The warriors tried to take him out, but he would shift about the field, cracking there skulls. Sh paled, realizing he wielded one of the demonic shift gems.
And then she heard it, a call she had not heard...that none had heard...in over 5000 years. The call of reinforcements of a long dead tribe. Two voices pierced the air, and even Geno, bloodied and brusied, looked up. In an ancient tongue long lost to all but a few, three voices screamed:
"The Medji are upon you!"
The two moved through the ranks rapidly, their weapons cutting down the warriors. They trembled, remembering the last time a Medji had faced them, and that was enough fo a pause to give the new attackers a chance. Now more people came pouring out, and forming a circle, began to move towards Geno.
"Attack them you fool!" Isis screamed. But as she said this, from the building came her youngest grandson and granddaughter. Their winds glowed under the dying light of the sun, Guy holding his guns, cutting down row after row of warriors with each pull of the trigger. Gala simply pointed a staff at them, and fire or ice would make sure they didn't do anything for a while. They were covering the mortals, she realized, as the two Medji took point with the vampire.
Her hand glowed, and hunks of asphalt flew up, hitting some of them. But as one would fall, 2 others would close the gap in the circle till their comrade rose. Guy and Gala had now landed, and were acting as the long range fighters, sending whatever they could at the rear ranks, causing confusion and death amoungst these creatures, the toughest warriors ever.
"I told you humans were strong." Geno managed to mutter before she gave her son a swift kick to the chest.
"The harder they are, the more pieces they break into!" She said with a laugh, the laugh of a woman not yet out of tricks. With that, wings rolled out to full length and she rose. Her eyes flashed, and the roof began to roll as the earth quaked. "Dodge this Medji!"
