Destiny threw his hand down, waiting for the scream, the heat, the flames.....but it never came. He looked at his son's body, and it remained there. It was still near death, but it wasn't crispy.
What is this? He looked over to see his right hand was...wet. It made no sense. Kaos didn't have the energy to summon a water spell...how could this be?
"Hey!"
Destiny turned, and was sent flying back, crashing through a glass window and into an empty playroom. He grunted, only to get a blast of water striking him in the crotch, causing him to scream and fly farther in.
"That's enough!" The Fire chief called. His men turned the hoses off, and promptly joined the group that had ran from the crash site. The Police had turned off their sirens and hoped out of their cars, older citizens that had caught a ride jumping out of the back. Soon, men and women, looking at Kaos and giving a glance at the window where they heard Destiny bellowing in pain, surrounded the area around
Kaos laid there, not knowing what had happened, only knowing that he was still alive. He felt something tug on his head, lifting it up, and he jerked. His eyes opened, and he was greeted to a pair of small green eyes.
The little girl was only 3 years old, yet here she was, trying to get his face out of the dirt. He saw other children trying to lift his wings, and failing miserably. She frowned, and let out a frustrated cry as she tugged hard on his head. Had he been in his senses, the sight of a toddler lifting his mutilated head would have made him chuckle.
"Someone get his wings!"
He felt more hands, and his eyes moved to see a waiter grabbing one of his wings. A fire fighter was lifting his shoulder, a woman in a blue dress was taking his hand. He breathed, felt hands caressing his face, getting the hair out of his eyes.
And the he was up. He felt support, as hands reached out to hold a wing, and arm, a leg. He felt weightless, as he was stood up and supported by these people. He looked to see an 80 year old woman and a 20 year old with 50 tattoos working together to steady his main wings. The children had gathered at his legs, holding up his lower wings and bracing his legs. The citizen's of Flint had successed in lifting a 7 foot tall god from his final resting place, and now held him standing once more. And even though he should have felt heavy, felt tired...he didn't He felt safe, he felt lighter then air....
"Isn't this a touching sight!"
Kaos turned his head slowly to look at his father. Destiny looked at his son, standing there. It looks like he had been crucified.
"I must thank you humans for making the target easier to hit. I will make your deaths quick and painless for this, I assure you."
Kaos was then blind, but not because his eyes had failed. No, it was because of the swarm of people moving in front of him, blocking him from his father's path.
He heard a police officer say, in the calmest voice he had heard, "You want to hurt Geno Roads? You're going to have to kill all of us to get through to him!"
Another voice called out, "He has done more for us then you! We don't even know you, and you come here claiming to be our king? Geno could have been king ten times over, but all he wanted to do was be our friend and help us out. And you think we are going to let you hurt him?"
A member of the Flint Fire Department nodded. "He is one of us. And if you kill one of us, you kill all of us!"
A chorus of voices joined in, calling for Destiny to attack them first. None reached for a weapon to actually kill Destiny, they knew that couldn't be done. But they had decided to stand with their friend and die, then hide and let him fall.
Destiny smiled. "So be it." His hand went out, and one of the children flew into his grip. Kaos heard her cry out in surprise, and instantly knew it was the little girl that had first tried to help him. "I will suffer the little children."
He turned to look at her, and was shocked when she stuck her tongue out. He growled, and squeezed, feeling her airways close. He could feel her heart slowing, her body going limp...
And then she was getting stronger. He looked at his hand, shocked. He should have crushed her windpipe, yet she was still alive. And then, his fingers began to open.
His eyes went wide, and he turned back to the crowd to see they had parted. He looked at his son's right hand, and saw it was slowly opening, and as it did, so did his.
"It's not possible." He whispered. "It's not possible!" He bellowed out louder. Maybe he was angry, or maybe he was trying to stop whatever Kaos was doing. "You were as good as dead!"
Kaos smiled.
And Destiny saw it. Everyone last human was glowing. Around them were auras....auras that were entering Kaos. The magic seemed to be focused on a ring around his head....
"NO!"
The light ring flashed, and took the form of a crown. It was a silver band with a star shaped gem in the center. Kaos' eyes glowed brightly as the auras faded and he rose away from his saviors. He looked at his father, and with a wave, the girl flew to him. He held her close and erased any damage Destiny did.
"In all your years, you tried to become the king of gods. But you forgot, there is another race that needs a king." He set the girl down and motioned to the men and women who stood behind him. "Father, a day will come when I shall fall on the field of battle, and I will rest in peace in the halls of my ancestors." His lips twisted into a half smile, one many duelists had seen before the crushing blow. "But it is not this day. No, today is a day of wolves, and shattered shields when your dynasty comes crashing down!"
Kaos landed and marched towards his father, who backed away slowly. "I tell you now, I stand here not as a god, not as an angel, but with my brothers and sisters, as a man of the earth!" With that, his hand glowed, and he grabbed his father by the throat.
Destiny's eyes bulged. "The honor of man was lost, purged from their hearts long before recorded time!"
Kaos leaned in, so close his father could notice something terrifying: His son wans't breathing. And with the strangle hold Kaos had, Destiny knew he no longer had a heart beat. Even he, the king of gods, had to breath, had to have blood in his veins. But his son...was now far above such needs.
"It has been found." He cocked his fist back, feeling the tension, and released it, letting out a scream of pure fury. And with that punch came all power of the earth, of mankind, of every man, woman and child. Kaos would be the one to deliver the wound the earth begged to done upon it's tormentor.
The sound of the elder god's skull breaking echoed through the city.
